“Fine for short stay”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

We stayed here for four days on a mini-break in early July and I think that was just about long enough not to get frustrated by the limitations of the place.
Our apartment (large sitting room/kitchen, double bedroom and bathroom/toilet) was basic but perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean BUT was on the main road so there was constant night time traffic noise - problem if you are not a heavy sleeper (to compound it the fire alarm went off three times on our first night!).
The pool area and sunbeds are fine but beds do get booked very quickly and there are not THAT many. The pool itself could be cleaner - I think the problem is that it is not quite full enough so debris on the surface does not get washed over into the filters.
The bonus is that all the staff are very helpful and efficient and make you feel welcome. In addition the large pool bar is very reasonably priced for both snacks and drinks.
It's a solid 15 minute walk to the Old Town where there are lots of bars etc. but there are quite a few more local ones if you don't fancy the really steep hill

Room Tip: Try to phone ahead and get a room away from main road - once you are there they won't move you

The hotel itself is dated, the décor of the rooms is old fashioned and things such as sofas, bed throws and curtains all old and grubby. The actual hotel and rooms are kept clean and to a good standard, the towels were changed everyday. Air conditioning worked great and the TV in the room, you have to pay extra for a safe.

The biggest plus to this hotel are the staff. All of the staff work very hard and always very polite. The bar lady was there serving breakfast at 9am every day and was still in the bar when it shut at 11 at night, she could not do enough to help.

Pool seemed to be clean and there was someone out cleaning it most mornings, the downside is the sun beds are again old and lots are broken. The hotel is situated in an ideal position, right in between the new and old towns so you can walk to either within ten minutes, it also has the supermarket right next door which is a big plus!

Over all I would say this hotel was more of a 3 star than a 4 but if you going for a relaxing holiday and don't intend to spend too much time in the hotel it was ok.

Room Tip: Make sure you request a room looking out over the Pool, we didnt ask for a specific side so we were...

We stayed in 1 bedroom apartment for a week. The apartment was spacious with a large balcony. It was clean with plenty of cooking utensils, pots, plates etc. although there are only 2 rings and no oven, there is also a microwave but we didn't cook so no issue for us.

The apartments are between the old town and new town (the strip) both within walking distance (bout 20 min walk). There is also a large supermarket about 200 yards from apartments. The apartment is right on a busy road and roundabout so if you got a room at the front it would be very noisey. We requested a room at the back of hotel and although we were told they can't guarantee our request, we did get the requested room.

The maids were in every day but only made the bed twice in the week we were there and changed the towels every couple of days. The pool and pool area weren't cleaned in the week we were there and quite a few of the sun loungers were broken.

The safe is 10 euros deposit and then 2 euros per day.

Checkout is 11am but we did a late checkout which is 25 euros till 2pm and 40 euros for after 2pm.

For information there is no free WiFi.

We personally found the beds too hard and uncomfortable but everyone is different.

I probably wouldn't stay at these apartments again because we have found better deals in the past for much nicer apartments in the area. My personal opinion is that these apartments are more 3 star than 4 star but again this is just my view.

If you like Indian cuisine I would recommend Indian Ocean in the old town but off the main square, it's hidden away a bit but walk along fishermans beach towards the Marina (not far) and you will find it. It was delicious, all freshly prepared! Well worth a visit!

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view or garden view room at the back of the apartments.

I have to give the Alagoamar Hotel Apartments 5 stars for cleanliness throughout. My first impressions were how clean the hallways were even before we got into our apartment. We had a one bedroom apartment which was very spacious and well equipped with pots, pans, and utensils. The bar on the lower ground where the pool is was also kept spotless by the lady that ran the bar. The bar was inexpensive for food and drink, there was a pool table and air hockey for the children. The Alagoamar was also quite quiet, even though we stayed over Easter and the hotel seemed busy enough there was no rowdiness from anybody staying there. The hotel staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and our beds were made daily and towels changed also. A well presented and well run hotel/apartments and would recommend to anyone wanting to have their holiday here. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here it was central to a lot of amenities for eating out, within walking distance to the strips (taxis available a very short walk away), the supermarkets are practically on the doorstep. We had a very relaxing family holiday at the Alagoamar.

Stayed 6th May to 20th. Travelled as a couple and we were given a nice room on 1st floor overlooking the swimming pool. Very spacious and well equipped apartment which was cleaned every day, towels changed every other day. Great spot for both the old town and the strip and really good value for money. Nice bar, terrace and pool with good value food available and reasonable alcohol prices. My only criticism is there is a charge of 4 euros PER HOUR for wifi and the TV only had 2 English channels on it, although it was free of charge. However, there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby with free wifi, so no need to pay at all. It was over 30c for much of the holiday, so the air conditioning was especially welcome, particularly at night when sleeping. All in all, a great holiday and I thoroughly recommend these apartments - we will return next year.

Room Tip: Quieter on the swimming pool side.

We stayed here for a week. The staff were so helpful and really pleasant. We had a one bedroom apartment overlooking the pool and it was wonderful, very spacious and had everything you could want. The cleaners came every day and left clean fresh towels daily, thank you. Great location for shops, old town and strip. We will return again as we had a wonderful time here.
