“Fantastic Apartments”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

We stayed at the Sereia for 14 nights and couldn't fault them. On arrival we were met buy Bruno who made check in easy. He gave us a map and pointed out local supermarkets. He even helped us carry the cases up the stairs. We were in room 206 facing the front. The apartment was huge. A double bedroom with loads of storage space. The living area was a good size which had a double sofa bed which was perfect for our 13 year old.

The kitchen was great, large and fully equipped with fridge freezer, cooker with oven, microwave and a washing machine. We were cleaned 5 days per week and the cleaners were really good.

There is an Indian restaurant under the apartments which was as good if not better than those at home. Also under the apartments is Cheers bar which is great for a drink on the way out and a nightcap on the way home. They do a happy hour up until 8pm, the beer is 1.5 euros.

Definitely will return to the apartments and would recommend them.

Room Tip: We had a room at the front of the property (206) which got the sun early afternoon, not as noisy as...

The rooms are spacious and as a family we needed the space. The apartments were clean and towels were changed regularly. The facilities were good and the swimming pool was large enough for our children to enjoy it.
Unfortunately what spoilt it for us was the noise from the busy road. It was noisy at night with both traffic and people shouting coming home from the nightclubs etc. this unsettled us and woke us up several times during the night so we weren't able to have a good night sleep on our holidays.
I personally thought to charge us for air conditioning when we arrived was poor. I would rather the hotel include it into their price when we booked the holiday instead of having to fork out more money when we arrived.

Room Tip: Ask for a room pool side. Though we asked for this and didn't get it.

Spent 8 days at Sereia da Oura from 24th June and our stay was excellent... the location was easy walking distance to Old Town and just a short stroll to Strip. The Apartment was very spacious and very well equipped even a washing machine which we didn't think we'd use but we did and it meant we weren't coming home with a case full of dirty clothes. The pool area is small but the complex is small so plenty of sun beds and it was spotlessly clean as was the whole complex and the cleaning staff were lovely. Bruno the manager is a lovely guy, very helpful and extremely pleasant, Paul in the pool bar is also very nice and helpful...overall a very pleasant place to stay but request a upper floor....

Room Tip: Just request a upper floor pool view its lovely but balcony small...

Handy location between old town and strip. Basic rooms but clean and tidy with comfy beds, and a decent shower. The place is very well run and maintained. We were on the middle floor on the pool side and their was no real noise considering the apartments are on a quite busy road.

Had a lovely stay in Sereia de Oura. Good location, in walking distance to old town (15 mins) new town (5mins) and beach (10 mins). Pool area nice. Rooms a little dated but clean, comfortable and spacious. Windows are only single glazed so you can hear everyone who passes by! Rooms weren't cleaned until the evening time which was slightly inconvenient. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There is also a reasonably priced pool bar and a small supermarket 5 minutes walk away. I would definitely stay here again.

Just back from spending a week in an apartment at Sereia de Oura. The bedroom was very spacious with lots of built in wardrobes, the kitchen was fully equipped including a washing machine and there was a good sized living area. There were three of us (2 adults 1 child) but the apartment could comfortably have handled 4 and if the kids were small maybe 5 at a push (we were provided a fold up double bed and the couch could sleep one as well). Air conditioning was extra at €6 per night (it is €5 per night in the studios), it certainly made the apartment very comfortable although perhaps that price is a little much for the rental. The pool is adequate for the numbers in the apartments, no problems getting a sun lounger and they provide cushioned liners as well for increased comfort which is a nice touch. There is an onsite pool bar that can prepare snacks as well as having ice-creams that is tended by a very friendly member of staff and the prices are not unreasonable. There is no wifi in the rooms but it is available in the reception area or just outside reception where they provide a table and chairs. Not ideal but it is free. The tvs have around 5 english language channels (itv, bbc1, bbc news, cnn and sky). As mentioned in other reviews the manager Bruno is very likeable and helpful and has perfect English. Rooms are cleaned 3 times per week (monday, wednesday and friday) which was sufficient for us. Our room was on the ground floor at the back of the hotel (room 107), no great issues with noise although if you were a light sleeper you would hear the bin trucks in the morning and the seagulls but there isn't anything the hotel can do about that. Location wise the hotel is around 20 minutes walk from the old town, it is probably a bit arduous if you have small children or difficulty walking as there is a steep hill involved and the heat doesn't lend itself to long walks. There is a street-train with a stop up the road around 5 minutes away that might suit some people as that covers the worst of the hills but the return journey would take a long time as it goes in a long loop. The new town (or strip) is much closer being less than a ten minute walk. The nearest supermarket is about 5 minutes away, it isn't very big but was adequate for our needs. The nearest beaches are around 10 minutes away (longer on the return journey as that will be uphill) and they were nice beaches. There are a number of restaurants located at the front and adjoining buildings to the sereia,- Cheers bar is very reasonable (pint of local beer for €1.50!!) and they serve nice snacks. There is a good Indian and three perfectly adequate restaurants within 100 yards of the apartments so no need to travel if you so wish. In conclusion, it's a small well run, apartment complex with friendly staff and is good value for money.

We have just returned having stayed here for two weeks at the start of July, we picked these apartments based on recent reviews but were disappointed. We arrived only to find we had a three hour wait for our room (not the only guests to experience this during our stay) which is not an ideal start to the holiday. Our apartment overlooked the pool area and although it was quite spacious it was basic and in need of modernisation. The fixtures and fittings are old and a coat of paint would not go amiss. The bed sheets were changed only once a week and the towels three times per week, no cleaning or emptying of rubbish is done at the weekends. Our bedroom was at the back which meant constant traffic noise throughout the day and night which made it very hard to get a good nights sleep. A mixture of guests stayed here, both young and not so young, with the young ones coming back at 5,6 or even 7am making noise and keeping us awake. We can't fault the staff, they were very friendly and helpful, and it is ideally located for the strip and old town but this place is not for us.

Room Tip: keep away from roadside.
