“Faultless”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

We stayed at the Aqua Pedra Dos Bicos for 10 days in early September and enjoyed a faultless stay. The rooms were clean, well maintained and nicely decorated with free air conditioning and safety deposit box.
We picked the hotel based on the fact that is was advertised as adults only and during our stay it was true to this. The feel of the hotel was very laid back and relaxed with helpful and friendly staff.
The breakfast offered everything we could have asked for, including sparkling wine! And as a bonus the breakfast times were reasonable, serving until 10.00am (handy for when you've had a late one the night before).
The beach is a short walk away as is the new town. The old town is a short taxi ride away and we paid no more than 6 euros each way.
The poolside restaurant offered a range of meals and snacks and while it may have been ever so slightly more expensive than the restaurants based in the town, you have to expect this for the convenience factor.
Overall our experience in this hotel was fantastic and excellent value for money. We'd definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to family & friends.

Just back from 14 nights B&B at this hotel through Thomas Cook. One of the most important factors is that the Hotel staff were very helpful and polite. The hotel is relatively new, in keeping with the area. The public areas were kept clean and breakfast wasn't bad. We were told that the hotel site was under contract, run by an independent operator which might explain some of our following concerns.
Having booked a superior side sea view room, we rated this site average for several reasons as follows:
If the room was superior, I cannot imagine what was not superior. The balcony was just large enough for two people to sit on but certainly not comfortable. Tea/coffee making facilities were provided but we had to ask for replenishment on several days. Room itself was okay. Perhaps rooms 007 to 014 at street level overlooking parked cars was in that lesser category.
We tried the hotel bars and restaurant but found them expensive and not good value compared to similar offerings in the area. In fact we were relieved not to have faced the restaurant quality more than once. Better quality for the same money outside.
The only entertainment was either an automatic piano or one of those "cut your throat" singers accompanied by the same piano!
WiFi was chargeable and despite one free replacement period, time kept running after iPads and phones were turned off. Lost about 1/3rd of the initial three days 24 euros spent. Luckily there was plenty of free wifi outside in other hotels and bars.
Good point was that the room safe was included in our room price. Some other hotels are also "free" but others about 2.50 euros a day.
A pool towel is charged at 1.50 euros a day, if you change it.
As experienced by other TA contributors (despite hotel excuses), this hotel does allow children on site which either needs stopping or at least their advertising saying it is child free needs withdrawing. They lost a point from us for this "error". We booked on the basis of No Children and will take this up with Thomas Cook.
Room cleaning was average with my wife pinching the mop every so often to clean the floor properly and get rid of the residue. Cleaner times were unpredictable and varied from approx 0900 to 1530 - mostly done early to mid afternoon despite using the "clean room" card early morning most days.
As others have remarked, the beds are hard and because of the local Karaoke bar the balcony door has to be kept shut, at least until 3 a.m. (If your room is on the left hand side of the hotel)
Compared to some other sites rated 4 star we looked at I would say this one is really at the bottom end of that scale, if not an upper 3. Including flight this holiday for two cost about £2800 all in, with no trips and average priced meals.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms ending 07 to 14 especially on floors Ground and One, due to view and proximity to cars p...

I was on my vacation in this nice hotel for a week from 20 to 27 Sept.
Pros:
It was the anniversary of our marriage, and when the lady at the front desk learned about it, she sent us a bottle of Champagne to our room, the strawberry, and the chocolate fountain!
All the staff speaks English language, and this refers to the whole city.
Sleeping quality is extremely good, no noise from outside, good walls, comfortable beds and pillows.
The air conditioner allows you to sleep with the aircon on, and not be frozen to death.
The system of lighting allows you to switch all the lights on or off from your bedside.
The hotel is very stylish, trendy, there is nice soft music sometimes playing in the corridors.
The massage was very good, the lady’s name was I think Manuela, I used to go to massage every day for different massages.
The people who live there are quiet, intelligent, no kids, no Russian tourists (we are from Russia ourselves, but we don’t like to stay with our nationals). Actually, there were almost no Russians at all in Albufeira, which is also good.
Cons (one):
The hair conditioner and the body crème were given only once, we used them in 2 days, and were not ever put again in our bathroom.
I would also like to speak about general overview of the town.
If you want some exquisite cuisine, it is not a place for you. The best food was in a few of Chinese restaurants, which are close to hotel, and also in the street called The Strip. All the other restaurants are mostly with British food, fish-n-chips, beer, etc.
The best bar for me was the closest to the roundabout in the Strip, this bar has the best music (house, techno, so the not so main-stream as other bars had). It also serves the greatest variety of the cocktails.
So, I would recommend this hotel and the place to either young people who want to party hard at night and have a sound rest in the morning or daytime, and to all other people also, who enjoy staying without any kids or Russians around.

lovely hotel in a good location only 5 mins walk from the beach and also the main strip of albufeira but far enough away that it isnt too rowdy!there was a good selection of food at breakfast and dinner although sometimes it is hard to get a seat as it is very busy at times.lovely relaxing cocktail /lounge bar with a daily cocktail on offer.one down side was the amount of towels left on sunloungers at the pool for hours on end despite the signs saying specifically not to do this.it is very annoying and inconsiderate to other holiday makers.

just returned from staying at this hotel on 27th september13, very modern and stylish we had a standard room on b&b room was spacious very clean balcony was a bit small but ok, we looked out on to pine trees higher floors had better views but how long do you stop in your room. Breakfast was pretty good but sometimes you had to wait for fresh supplies, Very quiet location plus adults only hotel great, Location of hotel superb 2 mins to street for bars restaurants 6-7mins to strip 8-10mins to beach by steps or steep hill. Nice pool area everything very clean. B & B best option as there are so many good restaurants in the area at good prices tourist menu`s very good selection of food plus wine or beer from 10-15 euro. Old town is about 10min bus ride or 30min steady walk well worth a visit.

Room Tip: If you want a view ask for room on higher floor but these can sometimes be more expensive

Lovely, friendly and very clean hotel, little touches such as piped music in the corridors, free safes, English Channel on the TV and excellent room service makes this a lovely place to stay.
Its ideally situated for the bars, shops and restaurants. The breakfast selection was lovely and the pool area very relaxing. The only drawback for us was the trek down to the beach as you do have a lot of steps and its hard work coming back up, but lovely once down there. Would stay again.

Room Tip: rooms on the south side have very small balconies and no view of pool

Great hotel, staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was immaculate! We stayed bed and breakfast and the food was great. In a great location in new town allowing easy access to bars and restaurants whilst not being on a main road. We did have a massage at the hotel however upon another visit this is not something we would have again. Overall a fab hotel and would stay again.
