“Vila Gale Week”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

The hotel was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly to a very high standard and bedding and towels changed frequently. Road view rooms are noisy but we managed to change to a pool view and had peaceful nights. Excellent indoor facilities which we needed for a few rainly days. Well located within walking distance of town, the Strip and local cafe's and an excellent supermarket. Free wifi in public areas. Excellent pool with plenty of beds in Sept/Oct and grounds well cared for. Only negative was the dark, dismal hotel bar where 'happy hour' prices were ignored unless asked for.
Plenty of other bars nearby and better value.

Room Tip: Pool view ensures a quiet night away from the four lanes of road noise.

this was our 3rd stay at the Vila Gal'e the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent with plenty of choice for breakfast and evening meal. The hotel is in a centeral postion
which is ideal for walking to the old town and the strip. We had a pool view which was great, the rooms are bright and modern with flat screen tvs and plenty of wardrobe space, small fridge and a safety deposit box in wardrobe.

Room Tip: great pool sea view

We stayed at vila Gale hotel for our honeymoon (26/09/13 - 03/10/13). It was booked by our parents as a surprise for us, and what a lovely surprise it was.

The hotel was very clean, our room was a double room and very spacious. Bed was comfortable too. Bathroom had everything you need. No signs of any mould, dampness etc.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel even though the weather wasn't very good. We had lots of cloud and rain but was warm. This did not spoil our holiday as there was plenty to do.

There were all age groups staying at the hotel and I believe the hotel did well at catering for all. The evening entertainment was limited (and not to everyone's taste) but we weren't really bothered about the entertainment. We were all inclusive and had plenty to eat and drink.
The food was lovely and there was a great selection. The waiters and waitress's were very helpful and polite.
Hotel is situated very close to the old market town and beech. We spent some of our evenings at the old town. We really enjoyed the old town, lots of bars, restaurants, shops etc.

The only downside of this holiday was that there was a "mini bar" in the room which consisted of 2 bottles of water which we had to pay for even though we were all inclusive. To me a fridge of water is not what I would class as a bar. However the hotel lets you take drinks from the bar up to your room... so that's what we did!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this hotel to anybody who just wants a short break away.

This is a lovely hotel, rooms are nice and clean, the staff is friendly and the food is first class. One word of warning however - avoid the Hotel's Bar (Dog and Duck) because the prices are a total and complete rip off ! Otherwise this place is well recommended !!

My wife and I recently booked eleven nights all inclusive at this hotel. I must say we were swayed in favour by the somewhat over-rated remarks made by the majority of guests on this website. There was nothing fabulous, excellent or brilliant about this hotel. It was very tired and dreary, out-dated and desperately requires a lot of re-decorating, the lighting was so poor in the Dining Room and Dog & Duck pub it felt as if I was wearing sunglasses. Apart from the average breakfast the food proved to be very disappointing. I do not want to be have the choice of beef-burgers or sausages for an evening meal, I expect this kind of food to be served up in a Roadside Cafe... NOT in a four star hotel. The beef and meat dishes in general were so tough it made my teeth and gums ache chewing my way through. The repeated deserts of jelly and a single grape for decoration on display every night gave me the boke. Beware of being charged 3.40 euros for a bottle of water from the room fridge, this is a hidden charge as we could find no mention of it anywhere, we were hit with a euro bill of 31.60 when checking out. I also grudge being charged extra for French Fries when paying for all inclusive. The dining room staff looked as tired as the dull walls, but the exception to this were the barmen who appeared to be forever cheerful and chatty with good manners. The occasional entertainment in the ‘Dog and Duck’ is a hit or miss. The token towels for the poolside require replacing as they are threadbare and not a lifeguard to be seen in case of accidents. One last gripe, the beds are so uncomfortable they waken you up every time you turn over. To show our appreciation we left tips for the maid and barmen as we felt they were the most deserving. We have stayed in better 3 star hotels who have served far better food and presented superior entertainment than the Vila Gale. It has left both of us feeling very let down and disappointed on our first visit to this area.

Room Tip: I don't think it matters. Not worth paying extra for a pool view.

Returned home today after one weeks stay at the hotel On a bed and breakfast stay. Breakfast lovely, lots of choice:
Full English, continental meats, cheese, bread, crepes, fruit, cereal etc.
Hotel and rooms Very clean, towels changed and bins emptied daily.
Pool is clean and lots of sunbeds although often limited availability.
All staff very friendly...hotel manager in particular.
Just a 5-10 min walk into the old town/beach. Can catch a train outside hotel for 2.50 euro one way but is much quicker to walk as old town is last stop of 4.
New town 5 min taxiride approx 5 euros, new town is very lively at night with lots of bar crawls. We spent all our evenings in the old town as lovely shops/stalls/street entertainment plus gorgeous restaurants and cocktail bars.
As far as restaurants go el rancho (beach front) is fantastic as is the American Diner (opposite bank restaurant)
Zoo marine and slide and splash water parks are fab and worth the money. Para sailing is a fab experience too. Small shop in old town great for booking excursions (opposite ale hop)
Would recommend and would stay again.
