After cancelling our original hotel, the Auramar, we opted to stay at the Vila Gale Cerro Alagoa. This is a lovely 4 star hotel which is spotlessly clean throughout. It comprises of four floors and approximately 440 rooms. We stayed in room 422 which has a decent view of the main pool & reasonable view of the ocean. This is an excellent modern spacious room, which again was spotlessly clean. Couldn't fault the daily room service, with bed change every other day, and fresh towels daily. One word of WARNING, the mini-bar mentioned in the brochure, exists in the form of a fridge, consisting of nothing but three bottles of water !! ... We made the silly mistake of consuming the water and ended up with a €35 bill when we checked out !!

We stayed bed & breakfast; the choice was quite good with fresh bread, croissant’s, choice of cereal, toast, tea, coffee, juice, fresh fruit, and an English style breakfast if you’re brave enough! Personally I didn't like the foreign sausage, the bacon was very fatty, but just about bearable, the fried eggs were literally swimming in oil, the scrambled eggs and mushrooms were nasty, and the beans were cold, so for five days I just ate toast !

The hotel facilities were excellent, consisting of a large outdoor pool, indoor heated swimming pool, sauna room, steam room, extensive gym, games room, & large internal pub. The location of the hotel is perfect, there is a lovely little road train that stops outside the hotel and runs every 20 minutes to the New Town, Strip and onto the Old Town, a day ticket is €4 each and can be used up until about 11.30pm.

I’d certainly recommend a visit to the Old Town, where you will find plenty lovely little shops, Bars & restaurants, and your only a short walk away from the sea front and golden sand beach, which are very well kept and spotlessly clean.

IN SUMMARY
This hotel is rated 4 star and defiantly lived up to its reputation
Good location, with lots of local amenities, Inc: Large Supermarket, KFC & McDonalds
All areas of the hotel was extremely clean, well presented & maintained
The food quality was average with reasonable amount of choice for everyone
Main restaurant was exceptional, outstanding food & excellent service
Rooms were modern and of a high standard with daily room service
Lovely clean pools, with all internal & external tiling work second to none
All staff was pleasant and helpful, and a smile was never too much trouble
Free Wi-Fi in the hotel lobby area

Room Tip: Ask for fourth floor with a pool view

Dear Guest

It was very pleasing to read your kind review and find you have found the Cerro Alagoa up to standard.
The mini bars are equiped with waters and these have a cost as mentioned on the mini bar door. We hope this fact did not spoil your image on our hotel or your holiday.
We hope you may visit us again in the near future

Kind regards

I stayed here in May and loved the hotel. It is comfortable with nice rooms, friendly staff. The swimming pool area is excellent with lots of space to sit around and relax. The food was good. The only minus I would say is that the bar is a bit dark and drab but the bar staff are excellent .This hotel is on the main road and is close to the Old Town and the Strip.I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends.

We stayed here for 4 nights during October half term.
The hotel itself was very clean ! The food was fine and we enjoyed the table service snack menu on the all inclusive at lunchtime. palo the pool bar man was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a pool view room which was great, you could also see the ocean. The pool was gorgeous and there was plenty of sunbeds as it was out of season. The pool was on the cold side but we were very lucky with the weather which was fantastic during the day although chilly at night. The surrounding area was good 10 min stroll to the old town and far enough away from the strip. The land train stops right near the front of the hotel which takes you all round the whole resort. Our only negative was that due to it being out of season there was no evening entertainment and we travelled with 4 teenagers who luckkily enough were entertained by the evening bar man and playing cards with us ! 4 nights was ok any longer might of been difficult. There are shops & places to eat right near the hotel but some are shut in the evening due to low season. Overall a great value break and a hotel I would re-visit.

Stayed in this hotel for 1 week in early October. Had a room at the front of the hotel on the 3rd floor and wasn't bothered by any noise at all and I'm a light sleeper the best of times. The room itself was fine no complaints there. Distance to the old town is about a 10 minute stroll and the strip is a few minutes away on the little train that stops outside the hotel so the hotel is situated between the best of both worlds. We stayed half board and while I found the breakfast nice, the evening buffet just wasn't up to scratch. For breakfasts for the week I lived on the fresh pineapple, yogurts and pastries but I dreaded the evening meal so much so we ate out 3 nights as I couldn't face it. For example they had a meat station which was tough chewy meat sitting in trays covered in gravy and people we poking at it trying to get the best piece and on the other side of the station was the vegetable, fish and side dishes such as mac & cheese etc I witnessed several people using the fish slices to scoop up the pasta dishes, disgusting! That was just some of my gripes about the evening meal. A pint of beer is €4 in the bar which is a complete rip off, go to the local bar behind the McDonalds across the road which is only €1.50 for a pint. Over all it was fine and I would stay here again but would do b&b only.
