Description: Fine dining with tradition. Atrium Restaurant. Set in the heart of Old Town Albufeira this former Theatre dates back over 100 years. In this beautifully restored building you can taste a selection of Portugal’s favourite dishes; including fresh fish, meat and the famous ‘Cataplana’.There is no better setting than the high Theatre walls, to carry the sound of live, traditional ‘Fado’ music. The welcoming, relaxing atmosphere is the perfect opportunity to take in the cultural tastes and sounds of Portugal.

We went to this restaurant during the early evening. The restaurant is in an old theatre. Some original features have been retained and other elements have been partially restored / attempted to be restored. This makes for a lovely setting ... especially with the ability to dine partly on one of the several balconies overlooking the streets of the old town below.

We visited on a Monday which is one of three nights when live Portuguese music is played at the venue. The other days that live music is played is a Wednesday and Saturday.

Our meals were delicious - especially the kebabs. I happily recommend people paying this restaurant a visit and sampling something truly unique.

Restaurant atrium is a nice building in the heart of the old town of Albufeira, but the food was very mediocre. We ordered a traditional cataplana with sea food, but the fish was definitely out of the freezer: nothing fresh about it. It had a nice lemongrass flavor to it: we liked that. When the check came out they charged us for bread and butter which we didn't order (but did get as a started). And when the waiter tells you goodbye in Dutch I surely know that this is a place not to visit again: not for me... In the end, if you want to get true traditional Portuguese food, leave the Costa and head out for the smaller towns and look for the small, shabby looking places for a good lunch. If they are packed with locals, you know you are in the right place!

We found this restaurant mid way through our holiday, and what a great place to eat!
A lovely old building with a fascinating history, of which the staff were only too happy to tell us all about!
All the staff were SO friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for them! They fussed over my friend and I and made us feel very welcome! In fact when we left, we almost felt like one of the family!!
We had the most delicious lamb stew with veg! It made a nice change from Chicken piri piri overdose!! Only negative......there was TOO much of it, and sadly we couldn't finish it all.
If you're staying in Albufeira, you must definitely eat here!!
