“If you like fish you must visit here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2014

We saw the reviews of this place on here and we love fish so thought we'd give the place a try. Finding it was a chore as its over the other side of town and there is no name on the restaurant we walked past it twice there was just an awning saying snack bar no menus on display or anything. Eventually we worked out this must be the place and went in. We were sat down by Ricardo and asked if we like fish we said yes ordered some wine and that was it! Five delicious fish courses, potatoes, tomato salad, bread and a bottle of wine and a crepe full of strawberries and chocolate plus a coffee and we were fit to burst! Salmon, bream, baby squid, king prawns and another type of bream we think and all were delicious. Extra potatoes were brought too. We were well out of our comfort zone as we didn't agree any price or anything but we'd had a fantastic meal so we thought lets get the bill and if it's reasonable fair enough! We got the bill expecting maybe 80 or 90 euros which we thought would be ok the service had been fantastic as had the food and friendliness of all the people cooking and serving. We got the bill and noticed some items had been left off! We called Ricardo over to explain and he thought we were quibbling over it I think so he went through every item and explained they didn't charge for extra potatoes and other things! The handwriting wasn't so good on the bill and we thought it said maybe 77, 88, or 99 euros so we asked him and he said its 44! We couldn't believe how such a meal for two with a bottle of wine could be so cheap. It had been one of the best meals we have ever had and incredible value. Although we were only in Albufeira for a week we went there again before we went home and it was just as good but without the mystery element! It's a great place very friendly people and in our view a must visit restaurant if you're a fish lover.

“Simply Delicious”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2014

A very simple menu but what I had was incredible. I choose the fish, which was a few different types to eat. All so simply cooked and fresh. But from entrée to the dessert was perfect. The staff were friendly. Not the quickest of service but it was very relaxing, especially sitting outside. Be sure to book though or try going early.

“LIKE TO EAT FISH? DONT MISS THIS PLAICE”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2014

Fresh, tasty, fantastic, top quality, excellent value. Words do not do justice to this restaurant. .. Run by brother, sister & a chef passionate about his fish, A Tasquinha do Rossio serve the tastiest freshest fish imaginable. Cooked simply over charcoal using only basic seasoning of salt, lemon & olive oil, the result is heavenly & a must visit if in town.. chicken & steak is available for non fish eaters. They are so busy with both locals & tourists alike that booking is advised & often only way to get a table at what we called fish heaven!!

“Very delicious and great atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 December 2013

The food was very nice and simple. Quite good value and the service was excellent. The perfect spot for a relaxing dinner. The only problem was the night we went the restaurant was very smokey; other than that it was great.

“Unpretentious... but a little over hyped”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2013

I visit Albufeira a few times per year, it is , in my opinion a little over hyped. A courvert will arrive at your table which for Albufeira is better than most you will encounter, olives, a pate paste, a home made dip (very nice) but there is just too much bread. If you happen to get through most of the courvert it will help disguise the fact that the amount of fish you actually receive is quite small. True you get a variety of fish for €12.50, but if you are not a fish eater the choice is very limited. When you arrive you will be asked if you like fish. There is a high probability that for your first course you will be presented with 3 to 4 squid for 2 people. All well and good, but, not all of us who like “fish” like squid. You will then probably be presented with a medium portion of salmon (for two diners), followed by a medium portion of sea bass and bream. All this is accompanied with a portion of algarvian potatoes and a mainly tomato based salad. If you are not a fish eater, then you will probably be limited to a portion of chicken which will also cost you €12.50 which for Albufeira is expensive. On the plus side they are very reasonable for their deserts which are good and inexpensive for wine, coffee etc. There are over 500 restaurants in Albufeira and not all are listed on tripadvisor, many of which are so so at best, but I guess I should remember that is by and large a holiday resort. It is better than most, an unpretentious place and the staff are friendly.
