Enjoyed our week at the Sheraton. I asked for a quiet room and Sheraton provided. Ocean view room 281. Not a spectacular view of the sea but a nice room and ticked all the boxes for us. Housekeeping very good and friendly, smiling, professional staff in all areas. Starwood bed was as ever, superb. Shower over the bath is not really in keeping with 5 star experience and must be difficult for elderly to navigate, but there we are. Recently stayed at the Kamp hotel in Helsinki - they have got bathrooms off to a fine art - not a shower curtain in sight!
Food wise, we ate in the resort apart from a couple of meals out. We particularly enjoyed the O Grill buffet with meat and fish grilled to order. I know that previous posters have complained about high prices, but prices are what you will find at most genuine 5 star hotels across the med. Buffet breakfast is fine, all tastes catered for.
The grounds are well tended. You can choose to sit by the pool or opt for full sun or dappled shade under the trees in the extensive lawned areas. Other guests headed for the beach so plenty of options to choose from.
A couple of suggestions for improving the product on offer: Why no bar service around the pools and lawns? Business wise it would be a no brainer.I would have spent much more on coffee, beer, and snacks whilst sunbathing had the bar staff been walking around selling their wares. Don't get me wrong, the bar staff are perfectly happy to carry your drinks over to where you are sitting if you ask them, but you have to get off your backside and order in the first place - I'm not normally quite so lazy by the way, just when I'm on holiday!
Secondly, the hotel is very child friendly, and absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, I've done the kids on holiday routine and I'm now at an age when we are more looking for a restful time on holiday. It was often hard to find a quiet space and it must be much noisier in high season/school holiday weeks. Why not designate one of the pools an adult only area. That would be a nice concession for couples.
All in all then, we had a good time at the Sheraton. The hotel deserves its 5 stars but I do advise couples thinking of booking to take into consideration the fact that this is predominantly a hotel for families. If you are a parent looking for a good quality child friendly hotel in the med - look no further, this one is for you. Have a good time. Oh, I should also mention the staff in the "wellness centre". Can't remember her name but she provided me with the best deep tissue massage I've ever had - superb!
