“Not for the disabled or elderly as very hilly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 March 2014

Myself and my Husband stayed here for my 40th and throughly enjoyed it. The food was really nice with lots of variations, the guests were all clearly happy & enjoying themselves

Rooms were clean and spacious, we asked for asked for an upper apartment in a quiet location and got exactly that.

The negatives are the beds, which are quite hard and to be aware of the hills & steps.

The hotel is situated in the old town near the harbour (very peaceful) would definitely go back. ;-)

stayed here self catering only in a two bed apartment . it was very quite when we was there not many holiday makers about . the pool area is fab but the bar and restaurant is abit dated. the rooms we where in was abit dated but good value for the price and massive . iv been told there is new owners there and seem to be doing a good job. only thing i dint like is that they wanted to keep are passports and they only served half pints and the beds was a very basic pull out sofa bed mattress and hard . good priced food and drinks and meals looked good and very clean . will go again im sure .

Room Tip: ask about room your going to get to check if its been up dated

DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO NEGATIVE REVIEWS. Staff did say that new owners took over april 2013. Stayed here 1 week 15th feb. Hotel only had few guests (probably due to bad publicity) Staff are brilliant made us feel like royalty. Food was fantastic (see picturers) yes room was a little dated but exceptionally clean. View over gardens with beach Iin background. Icant believe someone took a picture of the floor in a previous review for god sake you only walk on it. Bathroom bit 70's style but i spent 10 mins in shower so no complaints. Towels changed daily bed every 2 day's. Pool area spotless (to cold to swim). All staff polite friendly and happy to chat if they had time. Nothing was too much trouble. I have been travelling abroad for 26 years but this was best valueI have had.. I couldn't fault this hotel. Edgar Hugo and joseph waited on us hand n foot great guys learned alot about life as a Portuguese man. Chef eder cooks to the highest quality. I cant believe people who leave bad coments .. go to the sol hotel's they cater for wannabe snobs. So for value this is a great deal.

My partner and I stayed here in May 2012.
We booked the holiday with icelolly and paid around £160 for four days all inclusive holiday including flights, transfers etc.
The value for money was fantastic.

The hotel was lovely and perfectly located.
At night we could sit out on the sun terrace and look over Albufeira. It really is a beautiful place.

We ate out a couple of times in the 'old town' - All meals were superb!!

The hotel is in short walking distance of the beach, which was perfect for us.

We booked a trip to the water park in Lagos through the hotel.
That was fantastic and so much fun!

ALL the staff at the hotel were amazing and couldn't do enough for any of the guests! ( Even when some of them were really rude) .

The 'cocktail of the day' was always delicious! The only downside was it would sometimes run out quite quickly as some of the guests were rather fond of the all inclusive alcohol lets say.

Overall, a really enjoyable time and just the break we needed.

Thank you.

We went over the Christmas period and had a great time so please note that some of the reviews are written by people that paid for 2/3* prices and expected 5*.
There was certainly enough to eat for all meal times and more than enough drink on offer. Service was good and although there was a few problems with entertainment everyone had a good time. With it being all inclusive there was always someone in the bar that was able to provide entertainment even if they didn't remember the next day.

The only thing I would say is that the beds are really hard and you get one pillow. If you like bigger pillows and have a camping blow up one you could think about bringing it.

Just in case you miss it on their site it isn't suitable if you have walking up stairs problems as you will struggle.

We went to Seville on a day trip (it's a touch colder there) and would recommend it. There's not a lot really to do in the area as it is really set up for sunbathing and being Dec it wasn't really warm enough for sunbathing but the town was down a steep but manageable hill and offered some interest. The beach was lovely.
We walked to the marina and was disappointed as a lot of the shops were closed.
Back to the food. I hope the management read this review and can post the recipe for typical portuguese pork. Couldn't believe how gorgeous it was. We have portuguese friends so it's ok not to put the recipe in english!

Worst rooms I've ever stayed in, the day we got there our friend burst into tears when she got to her room, we asked to be moved but they would only move us if we agreed not to put anything on trip advisor and we had to share an apartment, or we could pay the difference and move to an apartment each. The beds were 1970's couch blocks, pushed together to form a sort of bed. There were no windows or air con in the apartment, the doors kept falling off their hinges and it was almost impossible to shut and lock them, each time we went out I managed to lock the doors and when we got back, they were open, the cleaners would unlock them, then couldn't lock them so they just left them pushed together.
The pool area was dirty and we always had to wait to get served at the bar, even though there were not many people there, saying that, a few of the staff were very good and couldn't do enough for you. Also the food wasn't bad
Definitely would not go back there, even if they offered it for free.

We were a bit worried because of the bad reviews but it was no where near as bad we had a lovely time yes the hotel was dated but it was clean and all the staff were helpful and polite yes the food was a bit repetitive but if you did not leave it till the end of the sitting then it was plenitful and hot they even laid on a special menu for christmas eve which is when they celebrate
so dont believe everything that is written it was well worth the money
