Food ok. Rooms average. Always kept clean but very dark and dated. The lights had energy saver bulbs in. Which to be honest. Difficult if you wanted to read . I couldn't read my magazines by them anyway. The staff were lovely.,which actually made it ok. The Newyear gala was good especially if you liked seafood. We don't but had all the other dishes,I just think that the hotel should be brightened up and the rooms updated. Dark brown went out years ago.

Room Tip: You need to ask for a room not too far from reception as we where a bike ride away

We stayed for 7 nights 21-28th January on B&B basis. Our room was located in D block with a tree blocking our sea view.

The room was basic but had everything we required. A fridge and hot plate, small TV with maybe 3/4 channels in English. We asked for a double but got 2 singles pushed together which was a shame.

The room we were in had an attaching family room. Unfortunately at the weekend we had some Spanish youngsters staying next to us - separated by one thin door. Let's just say if we could speak Spanish we would be in on all their conversations :) We also had all their cigarette smoke in our room, which isn't great at 0100am and non smokers.
The hotel itself is dated and you can hear everything in all the rooms but it served its purpose.

Breakfast was great, sausage and scrambled egg one day and bacon and fried eggs the next. Plenty off drinks, fruit, cereals and continental breakfast items too. We did find it strange that chips were offered every morning.

The location is perfect. 20-30 minutes walk to the old town and 10 minutes to the strip. Lots of nice walks and exploring.

We would def recommend going B&B as you are not tied to the hotel for your evening meals and the majority of restaurants offer a tourist menu - 3 or 5 course meal for as little as 8.50euros.

Just got back from our stay (last weekend in jan 2014). Not only did we have great weather - 18 degrees in the day, needing a light cardy for the evening due to a breeze in the air, b the hotel was fantastic!
It looks very outdated, but it is ridiculously clean! Everyone who works there is very nice and accommodating. - they even gave me a complimentary bottle of champagne for my 30th birthday.
Unfortunately there was no chance of swimming in the outside pools, as theses are not heated, but the indoor pool made up for it! Small, but perfectly warm!
Quick and easy access to the beach, and a easy 20-30min walk across the beach to the 'old town'.
Good array of food at every meal (though these aren't always hot...but fear not they have a microwave on hand to heat it up if needed ( I never needed to)).
Lots of choices of drinks available on the all inclusive, including a range of cocktails.
We also had twin beds pushed together, which although I do to Ike they were exceedingly comfortable.
Overall, excellent value for money, an excellent winter sun get away, and not too busy atheist imp of year.
I would definitely go again.

We stayed for a week all inclusive in January for a bargain price. The room in D block was old fashioned but clean and very quiet. We had a fridge, kettle, ironing board and hotplate .There was a stunning sea view from our balcony. The food was very good, with plenty of choice -even a vegetarian option- and staff were friendly and professional. The entertainment programme every day and evening was an added bonus -all free, including mini golf and tennis .It was a couple of minutes walk down to a beautiful beach ,and we could walk along to the town in about 20 minutes. There was also a free shuttle bus several times per day down to the town.I will definitely be returning to the Auramar ,and can't imagine how anyone could say it isn't a nice hotel. For a 3 star,it's excellent value.

Room Tip: D block floors 2 upwards have great views.

We chose to go to Auramar beach resort just the day after Christmas. It was very cheap. The weather was nice. The rooms were old and not clean up to a standards. There wasn't a lot to do in the hotel and in the evening just a bar was open may be ,because was off the season.

We have stayed here 3 times now for short all inclusive breaks around this time of year. Hotel is nice, has great views from the pool and restaurant areas. The rooms are basic...all the rooms have twin beds rather than one double, there is a mini kitchen area and a tv (could only get 4 channels two which were in German and two Portuguse but have been able to get bbc news previously in English.) bathrooms are fine, balconies are small but nice views. We did email asking to be in block A or D, didn't have a reply and was put in block B, so don't think they check emails. The view from the rooms we've stopped in have all been good (had rooms in A B and D blocks. One time we did get put in a ground floor room which smelt really strongly of smoke and lights weren't working but asked to move rooms and they switched us to a higher floor room that day.
Food was pretty good. Had plenty of choice for dinners something different every day. Lunches were fairly similar daily but were nice. Breakfasts alternated between sausages, scrambled eggs and mushrooms to bacon and fried egg every other day, along with usual cereals and pastries.
Check in is 2pm, if you get there before you can check in but leave your luggage in the storage room in reception and still use the other hotel facilities (pools and restaurant etc) check out is midday.
Restaurant and bar staff are friendly and helpful. Reception staff aren't the friendliest though. Some people have said about the reception having a bad smell, never noticed it before but it did have a bit of a nasty smell sometimes but not constantly...on site hotel shop is expensive and not open long but ok for basics.
The ticket shop up the hill is best for excursions (someone's mentioned it in a previous review) as it is cheaper than stuff from the hotel and picks you up and drops you off at chilli peppers next door to the hotel. Hotel advertised a trip to Lisbon for €38 per person and the ticket shop was only €20.

We were here for a week half board in January and stayed in Block D which is pretty central to the complex. You do have to pay 10 Euros for your key at check in but you get it back when you check out. We had to hang around for our room when we arrived as it wouldn't be ready till 2pm but we did get in just after 2. Our room was sufficient for us the only problem was we thought there was not enough lighting (they only had 2 table lamps in the bedroom). The food is virtually the same each day/night but not bad.The lifts are tiny only fit 2 people with suitcases.
There is entertainment but we thought it was ok.
This hotel is very =close to the beach and good views from the dining room or even the outdoor swimming pool.

I have 1 brilliant tip for people who like excursions:
Go to "Ticket Shop" there is 1 just up the road from this hotel if you turn left from the hotel. They do virtually the same excursions as your holiday rep but cheaper. We actually went on 3 and saved 26 Euros where as if we'd booked through our holiday rep we would have only done 2.
We enjoyed our trips and got picked up/dropped off outside "Chilli Peppers" restaurant which is next door to the hotel. There are about 4 Ticket shops in Alburferia alone.
