“Far from the Maddening Crowd”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

An excellent hotel located in a quiet but not to distant part of Old Albufeira offering fabulous views over the town and coastline.
The staff were all helpful and polite including the resident cat.
My room was spacious and clean with a well situated balcony.
Breakfast offered all anyone would want to start their day.

My only small gripe was that the bathroom towel replacement was a little on the stingy side. Also a word of caution to anyone with a large build both the bath and more especially the gap between the wc and sink unit were very narrow (at least in my room).

But generally I am happy to give this a good 4 star rating ... I would go back without hesitation!. .

Room Tip: Definitely if you are of large size do ask about the bathroom .... see my comment above.

Arrived on April 25th and as soon as we stepped through the doors we were treated like one of the family , our opinion of this hotel is as ive said before a Quirky lovely friendly hotel that we would reccomend to anyone. The staff are very friendly and helpful always smiling and treating us as great friends which i suppose we are after 4 visits, its also facinating how many times you can become a little lost in the place as there are many little hidden places that amaze you when you find them :-) lovely sitting rooms full of books and games that i guess have been left by previous guests , a lovely veiwing room where you can sit and read and take in the glorious view,,the weather we had for the whole 2 weeks was never below 28deg. We always find the food very good with a great choice so you would never go hungry ,
my 1 and only dissapointment is the fact that you have to pay for a fridge and at 4 euros a day i think its rather expensive. we had room 323 overlooking the pool but we also has a view of the sea we have had 3 different rooms now and all have been really lovely.
will we return a 5th time YES definatly ,We think the location is perfect as the views over the bay are amazing there is a supermarket and a few bars very close by , Down in the town square there are lots of lovely little streets to wander around . we found a little local Bar on the way back to the hotel one night called Davids Bar very small very clean and very cheap , David is a very nice friendly man,
thank you to all the lovely staff at the Do Cerro we look forward to returning soon :-) :-)

Stayed at the Do Cerro for a week with a friend fully inclusive, hotel was lovely, it was clean, and the staff very friendly. Pool Area was good but could benefit from more sun shades. Our room (321) overlooked the pool, the evening entertainment was ok. Only complaint couldn't have Ice Cream through the day unless i paid for it but you could have it with meals in the dining room!! Our First Choice rep. Laura was great, very pleasant and when I mentioned it to her she said she had asked Hotel to have a time for fully inclusive guests to have Ice Cream but they refused!!!.
On one particular day the Manageress was having a real 'ding dong' with the restaurant staff at lunchtime, in front of the guests, definitely out of order, If she wasn't happy with them, they should have been taken to another place, or waited until the guests had left.
As the hotel is on the top of a hill, it was one heck of a trip back from the Old Town especially in the heat, seemingly 'Cerro' means hill. There is a bus stop right outside hotel only costs 1.40 and it takes you to Old Town, well worth it.

Have stayed at this delightful hotel on several occasions, and it's great see the same cheerful staff each time, they obviously love their jobs! I requested two sea-view rooms and was allocated Room 9 which has a double aspect, ie side balcony plus full-length window with a view to die for, and my friend stayed in Room 10, next door but round the corner. The bathrooms could do with a refurb, but this wasn't a problem. Plenty of variety for breakfast and dinner and the food is hot and frequently replenished. The bar is lovely and offers excellent entertainment six nights a week: superior singers, guitarists, sax players - even the karaoke (initial groan) featured a professional diva! If you are seeking a change from the usual package-tour range of hotels, I would thoroughly recommend this laid-back gem.

Room Tip: All rooms have balconies. If you are alone, there don't appear to be any singles, so you are su...

When my wife and I arrived at around midday on 28th April we were met by a very pleasant and helpful man, Paulo Guerreiro, who checked us in. When we got to our room we were amazed at the size, the view, the decor, in fact everything. It has been very cleverly designed because to get to our room and the pool area you actually go under the road in a tunnel that has a lot of of really old photos of Albufeira, then in a lift to the 1st floor to some rooms and the pool, you then transfer to another lift to get to the 4th floor, it is all very unique and interesting. The Hotel on the whole was very quiet, which suits us, and although on the top of a hill with a steep climb, it is definately in a very nice quiet area, well away from 'the hooting and roaring' of parts of the old town. Once down the hill the beach was very nice and not too crowded, with several places nearby to have a spot of lunch. On the two or three days that we stayed by the pool, there was never a problem in finding sunbeds. We had booked bed and breakfast, however as we are both in our 70's one trip per day up and down the hill was enough, and the hotel offered a very good discounted price for dinner (11.25 euros) which we did most nights. The quality of the food was excellent, also the selection of wines was good, each night was different, starting with a really nice soup, and there was always a lovely fish dish. Puddings and ice creams were delicious. What made it even nicer was the staff, Elisa, Ana, Edourdo and all the other staff were so nice, and could not do enoughfor us - so much so it was sad to say good-bye. Another added bonus was the fact that on 9 of the 10 nights we were there, there was entertainment in the lounge bar. Throughout the Hotel, the staff were always smiling and helpful, and reception staff were very efficient and pleasant. To sum up, we cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough, and we will definately return (not this year as we have too much on) next year. We would like to say a big thank you for making our ten days so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Talk to the Hotel before you arrive, they are extremely helpful and accommodating. Rooms on 4th floo...

How fabulous was this hotel. Answer, very.can't wait to return. The hotel was clean, the food was delicious ,the rooms top notch, and the staff second to none. They made our holiday brilliant . Yes the hotel is high up, but 5minutes down to the beach but 20 back up, but a small price to pay all things considered . If you are a little dodgy walking a bus will regularly oblige ,at a small fee. They run right passed the hotel.10 out of 10 for me .

Room Tip: We had a sea view , but a room with a view of the pool was equally as good.

Cant think of any negatives at all, based on the expectation of a relatively cheap deal.
Room was really nice, all in working order and cleaned each day. We asked for sea view and got it with room 1.
The outside pool area was nice to relax around.
I liked the fact it wasn't a high rise stack of apartments, just two stories high.
Breakfast, very good selection of meats, cheese, lovely bread, fry up items, fruit and cereal.
Dinner, was like good school dinners (not from 1950s). different every night and enough choice to keep it interesting. Chicken, pork, lamb, fish were all covered, and great selection of interesting salads.
The staff couldn't be faulted in our stay either, really friendly and helpful.
The walk up from the beach IS steep, fine for most but not attractive more than once a day!
Close to town, around 10 mins really.
oh, and they have 3 resident cats! not just strays that wonder in, but they actually live there. a bonus for me.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 to 3 have sea views, but nearer the kitchen!
