“Excellent relaxing holiday”
Reviewed 2 June 2011

We stayed at the Falesia between 7-14 April in a suite this was spacious, very clean and had good quality linen and towels with wine and fruit on arrival, we had tea and coffee making facilities and bottled water, and these were replenished daily. No charge for the safe it came with the room. The balcony was a good size and over looked the peaceful, private grounds. It was a great sun trap. The cleaners came daily and were very good, friendly and dedicated. There was a daily selection of excursions available to suit all tastes. The Falesia has its own bus and did four return trips to the local beech free of charge, it had a cafe bar and was not crowded, it was like having your own piece of the Algarve. They also provided bus trips to local towns at a reduced rate. If you prefer to walk to the beech they did guided tours, so you then knew how to get about on your own, the view from the Sheraton down to the sea is a must see, take your camera!. Local shops, café and restaurants are a 5 min walk with lots of choice. The Falesia food was amazing with lots of variety in a lovely setting, the staff were all very attentive and the chief was front of house every night to meet and greet people and offer help advice and discuss the many dishes of English and Portuguese on offer. The desserts were fabulous and very addictive; the breakfast again was fantastic with lots of hot and cold choices, also catering for the healthy option. The pool was very clean with a lunch time bar and restaurant with the same standards as the evening. The indoor pool and Jacuzzi was great and surprisingly quiet. Thanks to the Falesia and all the staff we had a relaxing holiday and will return and recommend this fabulous hotel to others.

Room Tip: the suites are best as you get extras

Stayed at the Felesia from may 22nd - may 29th......first impressions were, Lovely hotel, Very clean, beds were the most comfortable i have ever had on holiday!! maids did a great job, food was pretty good, i am quite fussy, but to be be fair it was nicely presented and a good choice, desserts were really good, didnt see much entertainment, did see Jo Swale ( think that was her name) she was a rep who did a one girl show, she was excellent!!
drank at the brothers bar just up the road on a few nights, resonable prices and freindly staff. had lunch most days at the little tapas bar with the yellow chairs just down the steps and to the left, really nice food and a lovely couple that ran it, everyone seems to go there.
Visited Alberferia and vilamora, have a lovely meal in the mayflower rest in vilamora at the marina, really enjoyed it.
only negatives are:
the location was a bit of a let down, not much araound the hotel, the hotel had a lot of elderly quests, nothing wrong with that, was just daytime entertainment was mainly for them and was very quiet around the pool area in the daytime, and also the distance to the beach was a bit of a mission!!
but on the whole had a lovely relaxing week away,

Our first visit to a Thomson Gold hotel, and wasn't dissaspointed with the hotel at all, the food was excellent as were the rooms and staff. However when you read about Thomsons gold holidays they do state about the professional entertainers that appear at their hotels. This isn't the case, the Thomson team do the entertaining and I use that word sparingly, if you are used to family hotels then this might surfice, but basically it is more aimed towards a hotel that has children in it rather than adults only. Their daytime activities we didn't have a problem with but the evenings its best to go out of the hotel and make you own entertainment. We weren't the only people who felt this way. The funtion room for the evening entertainment was never more than 30% full which says it all, anyone finding this so called entertainment acceptable need to get out more.

This was our second visit to the Falesia, we first stayed March 2009 and were looking foward to the return trip. The hotel was just as we remembered, very clean, the staff always smiling and very helpful. I even e mailed the hotel and asked if we could possibly have the same suite, they said they would do their best and it was really nice to find we had the same room again when we arrived, we also have a complimentary bottle of bubbly from the management as we were return guests which was a really nice gesture.
When we stayed in 2009 we were very impressed with the food which unfortunately wasn't as good this time round. There was always plenty of it but it was a bit repetitive with obvious left overs being used the next day in the mixed salads etc. I'm all for not wasting food but it did become a bit predictive. No theme night as in 2009 and lots of turkey and no steak this time either. The desserts were a particular let down as was the fresh fruit, plenty of tinned but last time it was all fresh.
The entertainment staff tried their best to keep us entertained but relied on audience participation which was a bit of a trial for them at times, the hotel was quieter this time that in 2009 which we didn't expect was we went early in the season in 2009 ( March)
but I suppose that's all down to the recession.
There were always plenty of sunbeds and you can hire hotel towels for use around the pool which you pay once for and could change every day which is a nice touch.
Drinks at the hotel were a little bit on the high side but no more so than drinks in hotels in the UK, you always pay more in a hotel that you do a bar.
All in all we had a really pleasant relaxing stay and food aside would definetly go back again.

I stayed at the Falesia hotel in 2010 during the volcanic ash cloud! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were friendly and helpful. The room was large and bright with fantastic views, and we didn’t want to get out of our comfortable bed but the breakfast tempted us out every morning! The hotel was so well looked after, and the room was spotlessly clean. I looked forward to the wide range of food every day and even as a vegetarian I found the most interesting food, and the head chef was always present at dinner and had a huge smile on his face as he greeted us; such a lovely man and definitely an amazing cook! I have great memories of sitting in the bar in the evenings with the cocktail of the day! An amazing holiday due to everyone at the Falesia, Thank you!

It was like coming home on our second visit here .This hotel is well away from the strip ,in a quiet comparatively unspoilt area .Because of this its well worth considering car hire . The hotel charges 10 euros to vilamoura and five to Albuferia ,which with any other trips out can become pricey. We enjoyed the food here Angelo was big as his welcome ,there is plenty of choice ,a couple of things niggled , I would have liked to have seen the fresh fruit out in the morning and not just at night and instead of the staff getting a pep talk ,why not attention to detail ,like hot plates Please .The rooms are great ,we paid 17.50 euros for the small fridge ,the tv only had bbc1 on and news channels ,more would have been better .The wet spring weather has encouraged the mozzys ,we were both bitten ,so i took to scouring the room and keeping the aircon on all night ,we havent had that problem here before , so i would take one of those plug in mozzy killers .Our room was on the top floor number 432 we had views across to vilamora in the distance and sun in the morning .We liked to stroll around the gardens after meals and finally ,we appreciated the sugared dates and half bottle of wine ,as returning guests .
