We have had a weeks holiday in this hotel and knowing how fabulous it was would have stayed longer. Although a week eating the glorious food would have put even more weight on, the food was exceptional, the chef Angelo created different courses every night and the choice was endless, if you wanted sea food then there was ample, and always cooked meats to choose from with all the trimmings. The beach was a short walk through the Sheraton hotel next door and worth the walk when you reached the beach cafe (more a resturaunt) with a delightful menu available all day. The beach was endless a short walk to the west took you to Alos d'aghua and to the east Villamoura if you felt like a good walk. The hotel staff made and succeeded in creating a warm and friendly atmosphere and the entertainment staff worked their socks off to give the guests a great evening, with the two Jo's being well worth a mention.
The way this hotel is run is a fine example for other establishments to take note of, we will be going again when the waist line has returned to normal and we are ready for a feast every day and to be spoiled with such a quiet atmosphere.

We had not been to Portugal before but had often thought about going to the Falesia Hotel so we did and we were not disappointed. The majority of the hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly speaking excellent English.

The hotel grounds were really lovely which included a huge pond with huge fish (which we fed everyday with bread). There were plenty of sunbeds but they were in need of mattresses as they are quite old and not that comfy, however you did get used to them unless suffer with back problems.

We had a junior suite which we were a touch disappointed with (only because we have had better in other Gold hotels) but really I think it was just us being a little 'picky' because it was a good size room and very clean. Just one little irritation was that there was no washing line to dry towels and swimwear but we managed.

I noticed in another review that the fridge had to be paid for and was expensive. We did hire the one in our room and paid 35 Euros for the 2 weeks and for us it was well worth it to keep our 'provisions' in eg butter, ham slices etc, water, beer and coke. At lunchtimes if we weren't going out we would buy fresh rolls from the supermarket and make a lunch and sit on the balcony and enjoy. We never had lunch in the hotel so cannot comment but the breakfasts were good with lots of fresh fruit, breads and hot food. Evening meal was very good and gave quite a choice of dishes. The main meat throughout the 2 wks was pork and turkey with the odd night of beef and chicken. Fish was on the menu everynight and was very nice (no it's wasn't the fish from the pond!!!).

Entertainment during the day was good - lot's of games to take part in if you wanted. Jo Slo and Joe Quiff were really great along with Jill and Zee they made the entertainment. The evening shows were Thompson entertainment team and were extremely good, Don't know where they got their energy from. The 'outside' acts that appeared over the weekend weren't really that good but it was only for 1 night. Bring back the Thomson enterainment.

The best supermarket we found was the one if you turned right as you got to the main road from the hotel but when you find the shortcut you are almost there. Hugo's was good price wise for drinks however we really liked Tania's and popped in there most evenings after dinner at the hotel and wandered back to watch the shows around 9pm.
I'm sure I've missed out loads but it was a good holiday had lots of fun both in and out of the hotel and would have no hesitation in going again if only for a week as we do like to try different places to visit.
The hotel is in need of refurbishment in certain areas and when talking to the reception staff it is on the cards but they can only do bit's at a time, I think the sunbeds are on next years agenda. Hooray.

This was our first visit to the Falesia Hotel we thought we would give it a try as we knew people who had been here and had loved it we had been to Thomson Gold Hotels before in Majorca Cala D Or ( Rocamarina Hotel ) and also Ibiza Es Cana ( Panorama Marina ) both of these hotels were excelent so we knew what to expect from Thomson Gold Hotels this is our opinion of this hotel and the area around it.
Firstly the hotel was lovely spotless in all areas bedrooms very comfortable a bit dated but kept spotless by the maid the only thing we felt let it down was having to pay for the fridge and the safe in the room thought this was a bit much for a 4 star Thomson Gold Hotel.
Never really spent a lot of time about the hotel the pool was a bit on the cold side but the hotel had a lovely indoor pool but never tried it thought the gardens were lovely but agree with previous posts that a few of the sun loungers were needing replaced as they were broken but other than these minor complaints the pool and the gardens were beautiful .The food in the hotel was fantastic and all the staff in the restuarant were first class as were the staff in reception and the bars who were also very polite and extremely helpful. We thought the entertainment in the hotel was a bit repetitive but never spent a lot of time in the hotel during the day or at night we tended to go out the hotel and explore the area. We walked into Olos D Agua quite a few times which we enjoyed its a lovely place went there during the day and at night also the beach at the hotel ( Falesia Beach ) is fantastic we took the advice from previous reviews on TA and walked through the Pine Cliffs Resort next to the hotel and went down in the elevator and onto the beach via the boardwalk we loved this walk we also walked along the beach into Villamoura and took the local bus back to Olos D Agua from there you can walk back to the hotel. Also the hotel shuttle bus into Villamoura and Albufera is fantastic a great way to get about if you are a bit less mobile we tended to explore on our own which we like to do.
We enjoyed our holiday in this hotel loved the area not to built up and touristy like some other areas but near enough to visit when you want to would definately recommend this hotel to couples who like a good hotel in a quite location but wiwthin easy reach of busier areas.

This hotel is a modern ,friendly Thomson gold hotel. As with most Thomson golds the clientelle is mainly over fifty and much of the entertainment is for that era but quite a few younger couples were in evidence. The restuarant is very good with a good choice and well cooked food at all times.A minor critisism would be that the food has plenty of herbs and spices which may not be to the liking of people who prefer plain food. The bedrooms are quite good sizewise but I noticed some more narrower than mine. The cleanliness is good throughout the hotel and pool area and there is a TV room that has most football matches that are not on your room tv. Bar and wine prices are typical of a 4* hotel and there are a few bars around if you think the prices too high.Location is the weak point. To access the beach you require the courtesy bus or have to walk through the adjacent hotel grounds to access their lift to a rather windy shelving sandy beach.Similarly the hotel has only a few bars and restaurants in the vicinity but adequate bus service to Albufeira and Villamoura. The pool is pleasant if a little cool and there are gardens with fresh water pools with Koi carp.Early season this had many frogs croaking in the evening and I feared may attract mosquitos later on.Should you find the pool too cold than there is an indoor one.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool facing room then you will not be inconvenienced by the comings and goings at the fron...

We stayed at the Falesia Hotel for a week in September.
It was wonderful, we cannot fault the hotel at all. The rooms are very spacious and the beds very comfortable. Everywhere was spotless.
I don't think though really they should charge for safe and fridge (we stay at a 3 star in Greece and do not have to pay for these facilites). It was our firt time at a Thomson Gold Hotel, and my first impression was "Hi de Hi" - but I was quickly "won over". There were activities going on all day but you don't have to join in, some people loved it,but we are beach people and therefore really we did not use all the lovely facilities on offer i.e. pool, spa, entertainment. You might say why did we stay there? We booked it because of the good reviews and wanted a nice hotel and we really enjoyed our stay. We did go to the shows twice and one in particular was very good, in fact very professional, we were amazed, the Thomson entertainment team work very hard.
We were lucky to be at the front of the check in queue, which was quite long as it is a popular hotel, but the check in was quite quick, and we got a poolside room which we had previously requested. Thank you. The staff are very helpful. We were invited to the cocktail party to meet the staff which was very good. Thank you to the Management for our bottle of bubby to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary.

The food was absolutely wonderful - hence the title of my review!!! - and Angelo the Chef was always on hand, we loved the different foods on offer, and have never seen so many choices, some of the things you would never dream of putting together but Angelo did a great job! It was awesome!!
If we had stayed 2 weeks I dread to think how much weight we would have put on!
We frequently used the Brothers Bar just down from the hotel which was very good and reasonably prices, also the coffee bar down the steps fron the carpark is very good - they serve lovely coffee and cakes and very reasonable prices, lovely when you get back from the beach!
The drinks are expensive in the hotel but when you order and vodka and tonic - you only need 1! very generous with the spirits!
The gardens of the hotel are lovely to walk around and very relaxing.
We had been to the Algarve before, so didn't do many excursions, we went to Albufeira and Vilamura by taxi which wasn't too expensive. The only Thomson trip we did was the boat trip with the caves etc - it was awful and I wouldn't recomment anyone to do it. 25 years ago we did this and had a beach BBQ and spent time on the beach, it was great - this time we never left the boat, lots of people were sick, even the driver who transported us to and from the boat was a maniac! The lunch they gave us we fed to our beautiful fish in the lake in the hotel grounds! On our return, we wrote this comment in the comments book at the Thomson Rep's desk. This is the only thing we had to complain about - "the Thomson Reps" - the next day the page had been removed from the book!!! - why have a comments book if they don't want negative comments noted???

The weather was great whilst we were there, we walked twice through the Sheraton (fantastic hotel) down to the beach – it is a long trek but an enjoyable 20mins walk after brekkie, you have to try it! The sunbeds at 15 euros (2 sunbeds and shade) to the right – but if you want a Sheraton sunbed to the left - they will charge you 150 euros - what a cheek and such snobbery!!

If you take the courtesy bus from the hotel down to the beach, it is much better and very punctual - the sunbeds are 12 euros (2 sunbeds and shade) and more spacious - we preferred this part of the very long gorgeous beach.

We would not hesitate to recomment this hotel to anyone, and will probably return.

Room Tip: We had a standard room which was absolutely fine, but I understand if you have a suite you don't...

The wife and I stayed at the Thomson Gold Hotel Falesia this month and what a wonderful time we had. The entrance to the hotel opens up into a large and welcoming atrium with large palms and plants galore. It took us a little while to check in, but with a lot of people turning up at the same time, there's not a lot you can do about that. The reception staff were all very helpful whenever we contacted them and extremely efficient. We had a standard room (320) which overlooked the front of the hotel. This was a godsend as we only had the sun on our room in the late afternoon and it was very quiet. The room was very spacious and the bed had been described by my wife as the most comfortable she has ever slept in (I think she would have tried to bring it home if she could have found a screwdriver). Now this is my biggest complaint - there are no tea and coffee facilities in a standard room! Surely you shouldn't need to upgrade to a suite just to be able to make yourself a cuppa in the morning. Anyway back to the positives - The pool area was a lot larger than I expected and there are additional sun beds available in the gardens (which are very nice). The pool itself was brilliant - It is very shallow along one side (enough that you can just sit in the pool!) and it has a very gradual slope to the deep bit in the middle. The restaurant is amazing! The choice of food is mind blowing, Angelo the chef and his team are brilliant. we heard some complaints about the food while we were there and we couldn't believe it (those complaining obviously dine in the Ritz everyday!!!). The hotel boasts two bars with great staff. Yes the drinks are expensive, but drinks are expensive in all hotels, If you want a cheap pint go to one of the local bars, but miss the entertainment at your peril!! We both need to say a huge thank you to Natalie and Neil, the holiday advisors, who were outstanding - not only did they manage to source a kettle for me!! but they were very approachable, professional, nothing was ever too much trouble and everything ran smoothly (even when one of the professional acts went sick on the day of the performance they arranged a replacement). Our biggest thanks have to go to Jo, Joe, Jill & Zee, the entertainment team, they made our holiday. The amount of energy and dedication they put into the daytime and evening entertainment is awesome. They are a great team and deserve a huge pat on the back - whenever they were about they made us smile and laugh. Thanks.

Room Tip: The rooms that look out over the front of the hotel only get the sun in the late afternoon and there...

This was our second visit to the Hotel Falesia and it was the right decision to return. We received a warm welcome by all the staff who remembered us from last year.
We didn,t notice any reduction in last years standards and found the hotel to be just as clean, friendly and efficient as our previous visit.
We didn,t do much this year apart from relax, read, enjoy lovely food and meet new friends. We ventured out to Albefeira on the shuttle bus, excellent value at 5 euros each return, and found the length of the visit just right.
The Entertainment team are very good at what they do and we didn,t find them intrusive at all,you are never coerced into joining in if you don,t want too and when relaxing in the gardens through the day could not hear them at all.Even when you are in the pool area they only make short announcements and have a bit of banter with the guests and the quizzes are good fun.Jo Slow is excellent and this is the second year she has been there when we have and works so hard to pitch it just right.
We found the food to be better if anything this year with loads of choice - too much sometimes !!!Other reviewers are correct when they say the Head Chef is a lovely man and couldn,t do enough for you.All the staff in the restaurant and bar work very hard too and when I have read comments that the service was poor and staff not pleasant then I have to disagree.I usually find in life that you get back what you give out ,and if you can give someone a smile and be polite then you won,t go far wrong.
One thing that does get up my nose is when people go on about the price of drinks in the bar and restaurant, well I,m sorry but you can,t expect to go to a 4 star hotel and pay 2 star hotel prices, that doesn,t happen in the Falesia or anywhere else either in this country or aboard in my experience. If this IS what you expect then go to a 2 star hotel !!Neither should you expect to pay the same as in the supermarket,if thats what you want then buy in the supermarket and drink on your balcony - glasses are provided in the bedrooms.
Hugo's is excellent for lunch - as others have found, the tapas are great, and the Brothers bar has a friendly feel to it and nice to have a drink if you fancy just a short walk after dinner.
All in all well done Hotel Falesia, arrived home Thursday tea time, booked again for next year Friday morning - that sums it up for us really.Looking forward to seeing everyone again next year

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor over hotel reception, lovely quiet room and excellent views for miles
