My husband and I returned last week from a week's holiday at the Falesia, a wonderful Adult Only hotel. This is a Thomson Gold hotel and we had booked a Junior Suite which was just perfect, our room (No.224) was very spacious with a separate seating area and balcony, extras included - kettle with drinks replenished daily including bottled water,  a good sized fridge which proved very useful for keeping drinks cool, dressing gowns, slippers and room safe, there was plenty of wardrobe and drawer spaces.  The hotel is maintained to a very high standard and all the staff are very pleasant and will go out of their way to assist you.  The food is very good with meals served buffet style and themed nights, the selection is huge with choices to suit everyone's taste. Restaurant and bar service were exceptional.

The swimming pool is super and there are ample sunbeds.  The hotel grounds are beautiful with well kept garden areas as well as ponds with fish and frogs. There was however a shortage of parasols as we requested one but were told that they had all been distributed (we counted only approx. 8 parasols).

The entertainment team work very hard and have varied activities, they were extremely friendly but never pushy.  The evening shows were very professional especially 'The Bottles' (Beatles Tribute Band) and a Tina Turner Tribute act - these were some of the best shows we have seen, the resident duo were also very good with a varied repertoire.

The hotel runs a courtesy bus to the beach (approx. 4 times daily).  You can also book the bus to visit either Albefeira or Villemoura for a very reasonable fare from the hotel.

My only niggles were:  (1) The rooms needed updating especially the bathroom,  even though the rooms were extremely clean, some of the bathroom wall tiles in our room were cracked and the basin and bath taps were discoloured - they looked very tired and in need of modernising.   (2) The electric sockets were not close to any mirrors therefore awkward when drying/straightening hair.

I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday with very good food.  We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Junior Suite, Room 224 well worth the extra.

Recently returned from our 5th visit to this wonderful hotel and have to say that they consistently maintain the highest standard of holiday accommodation with helpful staff who always go the extra mile to ensure the requirements of guests are met and often exceeded. All areas are kept spotlessly clean and the wide variety of food available ensures that only the unreasonable could not find something to suit.We were celebrating a significant anniversary during our stay and General Manager Carlos and his staff ensured that it was particularly memorable by their kindness in marking the occasion with a bottle of sparkling wine ( what a lovely gesture!)
The area is situated in a quiet area so is not for party animals but perfect for a quiet stress free break. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear of the hotel get more sunshine but those to the front are cooler and possibly bett...

We decided to make a 2nd booking to a Thomson Gold property mainly based on the experience we had from Minorca in 2012, and also the reviews here.

We were not disappointed. I don't believe I need to repeat the many great reviews on here about this hotel.

Our expectations were fulfilled completely. Fabulous hotel and staff. Food was excellent. We enjoyed the hotel so much we spent most of the day sunning ourselves on the sunbeds on the glorious gardens.

We didn't want to leave to go wandering on trips!

Couldn't fault this place or the location.

As the hotels strap line says - Simply Relaxing!

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Falesia Hotel which we booked because of its good reviews. However, we were very disappointed to learn on arrival that we had not been allocated a fourth (top) floor room as we had requested and were booked into room 304 which was very small compared to other rooms on the same corridor. Nevertheless, we decided to make the best of things but for the first three nights were unable to sleep as the guests in the room above arrived back in the early hours of every morning and noisily opened drawers and cupboards and clomped about the room waking us up. As we knew it was a changeover day on the Sunday we asked reception if we could be moved to a higher room but were told that we would have to wait the full week before a room became available as the rooms had already been allocated. Feeling we could not stand any more sleepless nights, we approached Gemma, the Thomson Rep who spoke to reception on our behalf and we were offered a Junior Suite for which we would have to pay the extra. This we were happy to do and we enjoyed the rest of our holiday but the initial upset did cloud our first impressions of the hotel and as we had booked for a fortnight we had expected our request for a decent top floor room to be granted.

On the positive side, the staff at the hotel were without exception helpful and friendly at all times. The décor was, as other guests have noted, in need of upgrading as it was a little tired and old fashioned. The dining room atmosphere was excellent – very relaxed and the choice of food extensive and always plenty of choice. We especially liked the salads and desserts.

During our stay there was a bit of sunbed monopolisation in the early mornings despite being told that there were plenty for everyone – this was not always the case. It would have been nice if more sun umbrellas were available as there were only about half a dozen and these were bagged by the same guests who got up very early every morning. The pool area and the gardens especially were lovely and well maintained and there was plenty of shade as well as sun in the gardens. We also enjoyed visiting the nearby beach which was beautiful and very clean.

If we were to go to the Falesia again we would definitely book a Junior Suite as it was much larger and included the safe, fridge, bottles of water every day and dressing gowns and slippers in the cost (an additional 12.50 Euro per day). We were led to understand there was also fruit and wine for guests on arrival in these suites but we did not have them.

Although the Thomson Gold team provided entertainment and a professional ‘act’ every night, over a fortnight we wanted some variety which we normally would do with a stroll to a local bar. However, there are limited places to walk out to in the evenings as all the bars and restaurants were on a busy main road and it was not particularly pleasant to sit outside. You can go to Albufeira by taxi quite easily but all we wanted was more local variety. We would therefore probably only revisit for a week at a time.

Particular thanks must go to Gemma who was very patient and helpful to us throughout our stay.

Room Tip: Rooms in the middle of corridors seem to be much smaller than others - we originally had 304 but saw...

Dear guests,

Thank you very much for your review. We are pleased to see that you were happy with most of our services however I am very sorry we have not managed to give you a good start of your holiday.

I am sure that the meaning of the "special request" is not explained properly very often.
Our commercial department is working hard with all the partners to explain the special requests clearly and Thomson explains it well on their website or in their brochures.

Together with the Tour operator we are always trying very hard to meet our guests special requests but unfortunately we can not guarantee them. It happens that much more often if the room type limits the selection of the rooms that can be allocated to your booking. I would guess that you have booked the pool view room and the actual room type (pool view) takes the priority in allocating the room as this is the room type that you have booked and paid for and we have to provide you with this room type as it is our contractual obligation with the Tour Operator.
I presume there were no pool view rooms available on the forth floor and the next best allocation would be on the third floor. Just want to mention that out of 169 rooms in the hotel there are only 14 rooms on the forth floor with the pool view - and a lot of special requests for the top floor.
This is one of the good examples why we can not guarantee some special requests.

I am also sorry to see that you were disturbed by some noisy guests in the early hours of the morning and I do apologise on their behalf.

I am pleased to say that we are already taking the action regarding the sunbeds and sun umbrellas. We have already purchased some more sunbeds (few spare ones are always good to have) and next week - some new sun umbrellas will be installed around the pool, but as you say, there is always enough shade in our lovely gardens as well. We are kindly asking all our guests not to reserve the sunbeds (and in particular before breakfast already) and when we need to - we do remove the property from the sunbeds if not occupied for longer time.

We all know that we have all got our favourite spot for our sun bed but we also believe that sharing is caring!

Once again, thank you for your review and your comments. We are always taking all the reviews and comments very seriously and implementing any good ideas - and hopefully with it - also improving our services.

Looking forward to welcome you back to Falesia Hotel in the near future.

Kind regards

I love this hotel and all it's facilities both within and nearby to local village. Friendly staff who care about their guests, make everyone feel welcome and part of the Falesia family. The Thompson crew have finally got the balance right to offer guests the option to join in entertainment or be left alone to snooze! This is an adult only hotel so children under 16years; lovely pool setting and a short walk to the beach or local village. Beautiful gardens (which are regularly maintained) and good restaurant / bar services available throughout the day.... This is my 9th year coming and hope to make it a decade next year!

Room Tip: Rooms away from the show bar will be quieter if you're having early nights!

We stayed at the Falesia at the start of June for 7 days this being our 4th visit again we had a fantastic holiday from the time we booked in until we left, Angelo (Head chef) Bruno (restaurant Manager) and all staff we most welcoming and always smiling including the lady (I think Rita) who served the pancakes, in the Show Bar the waiters were excellent, including Armen(I'll be back) the entertainment in the evening was good including the acts from the U K , the Thompson team, , we would like to thank all from Carlos the manager to the cleaners who looked after our room for making the holiday so special.
Friends from home had tried to book prior to us going and the hotel was fully booked so the hotel is a very popular place.
As soon as we returned to the U K we booked our return to the Falesia for June 2015, Oh yes we will be back

An excellent hotel family owned with friendly staff geared to adults. The buffet for breakfast and dinner could not have been bettered for choice and freshness. Air conditions in rooms worked well and rooms were spacious. Not surprised to have met couples who have returned

Room Tip: Rooms 230 over the garden areas are ideal for sun in morning and shaded in afternoon
