We have just returned from another relaxing holiday at this splendid hotel. The staff are, without exception, polite, friendly and always helpful making for a good holiday. The hotel and the vast gardens are beautifully maintained. There are plenty of sun loungers around the large pool and dotted around the gardens if you want a secluded area. The food too is excellent and beautifully presented with lots of fruit and vegetable carvings (you can see these demonstrated one morning). Victor the local interest rep is a fount of knowledge and takes interesting walks in the locality as well as two different half day mystery tours, which are a must! The Thomson staff work hard to make your stay enjoyable with daytime activities, and do their best in the evenings, but we were disappointed that there is no longer a Thomson gold production team as we have always enjoyed their shows at this and other gold hotels. The comedians flown in by Thomson were very mediocre at best and not really our 'cup of tea'.Talking of tea, do take your own travel kettle if you want to make tea in your room. Only the superior rooms have them provided. The other change from previous years is the television, as BBC and ITV are not, at present, available in hotels in Spain and Portugal. The only English programmes are Sky News and CNN news.
We will probably return in a year or two and hope Thomson will re introduce a production team.

Room Tip: It is well worth paying the little extra for a pool view as you then have all the afternoon sun and...

Dear Guests,

Thank you very much for being such a faithful guests and - all of us in the Falesia Hotel - will always try and do our very best to make sure your stays are most enjoyable ones.
It is great to see that you have had another great holiday and we are sorry if not all of your expectations were met.

Entertainment depends so much on ones personal taste and it is very difficult to please everybody, but I can assure you that together with Thomson, we are trying to provide the entertainment that majority will find at least something that they would really enjoy. Some guests enjoy the comedian shows and the others prefer song and dance routines. Lets hope that we can have something that you will enjoy better at your next visit.

On the other hand I am very pleased to say that the issue of the TV has nearly been resolved and there will be even more channels then in the past. Hope this is a good news for your next visit.

Once again, thank you for your opinion and for writing the review. We are looking forward to your next visit.

Kind regards

Our first time at the FALESIA Hotel but It won't be the last! We stayed for a week from 26th June to 3rd July and wished we could have stayed longer. We are a young 58 and 60 years old and granted, there were a lot of our age and above but there were also plenty of younger couples. We have never stayed in an adult only hotel and don't mind children making a noise and having fun but we just wanted a complete chill-out holiday and this ticked all the boxes.

On arrival we were given a ground floor room with no outlook so we asked if we could possibly change to a higher floor. The receptionist was lovely and found us one on the third floor at the front which we were perfectly happy with as it didn't have any afternoon sun pouring onto the huge double balcony! The room was fine and spotless as was the bathroom although that was in need of updating as some reviewers have pointed out....lots of cracked tiles. The main complaints about the room are. 1. The fact that the fridge had to be paid for and.......2. The only plug point was the one the TV was plugged into. Every time we wanted to charge phones, cameras, etc and use hair appliances, we could only do one thing at a time!!

Without exception all the staff were all wonderfully friendly and we enjoyed lots of banter with the restaurant chefs. The food was great with plenty of choice and the restaurant looked like a restaurant and not a canteen.......wine was also very good and reasonably priced.

The pool area and gardens were beautifully laid out with fish ponds and a waterfall feature. There were trees for shade but not many umbrellas and the few that were there were fixed in position. Plenty of comfortable beds though. The only negative thing I can say is that we didn't notice anyone cleaning the outdoor pool during our stay and there were lots of bits floating in there including a sticky plaster which was there on the first day and still there on the last.

Entertainment was a mixed bag. The best acts when we stayed were a comedian called Tucker and an Elvis tribute guy whose banter with the audience was really funny. The resident duo Sophistication were just ok.....her voice was ok but he should stick to playing the keyboard and leave the singing to her.

Daytime activities were fabulous! I've never joined in with anything before but my husband persuaded me to have a go and it was so much fun I found myself looking forward to the next game! The crowd that joined in most of the games were great......even encouraging the rubbish players. the activities team of Gareth, Lucinda and Leah really made the games fun and a good time was had by all!

All in all a fabulous holiday and I would recommend a stay there to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday with great food. Will definitely return!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are out of the hot afternoon sun.

My wife & I have just spent a week at this superb hotel. Friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble for them. You are made to feel exceptionally welcome from the moment you check in!
We had a superb room overlooking the gardens, which was nice and cool, you didn't need the 'Aircon' on at night.Good entertainment in the show bar, ranging from local to international talent, attentive waiters & good service.
Superb choice of foods at mealtimes, good selection at breakfast & dinner....plenty of variety! Crepes made fresh for you individually in the evening, there is something to please all palates. Sehnor Carlos Franco, the General Manager always seems to be around & he goes out of his way to talk to you individually, seeking how you are enjoying your stay. This hotel is truly a "Thomson Gold"!
A few bars, restaurants & a couple of supermarkets are roughly 300 yards away, but that is all there is. Albufeira town is 7k away & costs around €11 in a taxi, although the hotel does operate it's own bus for €5 return!
All in all, the staff do go out of their way to make sure that your stay is an enjoyable one!
We certainly will return to this hotel in future!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the gardens are cooler.

Just returned from one of the most relaxing holidays ever, from check in to check out couldn't fault very good breakfast available, evening meal just as good something for everyone, bar prices were reasonable, rooms were comfortable and kept spotless by chambermaids the hotel is generally kept well cleaned, staff are polite and helpful, pool and surrounding area was spotless the gardens are kept beautiful, unfortunately people do put towels on sun beds daily but we always found somewhere to sunbathe and chill, a very Big thank-you to the manager and his staff for making our holiday so memorable! Also the Thomson team work very hard trying to make your holiday special, we will certainly be returning in the near future with Thomsons

Room Tip: If you want peace and quiet ask for 4th floor away from pool area

This is the first time we have returned to a hotel anywhere. Like last year we travelled with friends and, if anything, we enjoyed it even more. We love the gardens and prefer to sunbathe there than by the pool. My friend and I took part in some of the games but no pressure to do so.
Being half board if was.lovely to have a leisurely lunch in one of the local restaurants. Brother's bar is the place to go in the evening with Miguel on hand to look after you.
We very much like the fact that the restaurant feels like a restaurant and not a canteen. Most people keep to the dress code, unlike a lot of hotels nowadays
If you are thinking about the Falesia- just book it!

Room Tip: If you want more shade than sun in the afternoon the front of the hotel is ideal with very pleasant...

This is the third time we have visited this hotel and as long as the chef stays there it will continue to be good. if you want a relaxing stay in Portugal then you will enjoy it here. The staff are welcoming and friendly and we were given a room this time which was large and overlooking the gardens and the pool although we only paid for a standard room. Perhaps this was in recognition of us having stayed there three times I don't know but it was a nice touch if that was the case. Would go back again as we have always enjoyed our stays there.

Room Tip: Room 105 was a large room with views of the gardens and the pool and sun in the evening on the balc...

This was our second stay at this superb Thomson Gold hotel. We stayed for 14 nights on the third floor overlooking the pool. The balcony was too hot to sit on during the afternoon (so be warned) but the view is lovely, the room clean with plenty of space. A room safe is available at a small charge but the fridge is expensive to rent. The hotel gardens are beautiful, secure and safe as only accessible through the hotel, lovely to sit in if you don't want to sit around the pool and with plenty of shade and ample sunbeds. Around the pool bar there were new rattan furniture, all very comfortable once you got down onto it but difficult for some to get up from as too low, bearing in mind a lot of elderly residents. Also there was very little shade over this furniture so it was rather too hot to sit on and remained unused in preference of the shaded upright chairs and tables. Without exception the staff were all very friendly and made you feel special. The food is absolutely gorgeous. Nobody can say there is not enough choice. Presentation exceptional! Angelo the Head Chef and his team go out of their way to make a varied and delicious menu. A lot of banter in the dining room with the staff giving it a relaxed and friendly feel. The Thomson team and reps were SO good. The entertainment team are lovely and not pushy if you don't want to join in on the activities, which some people don't, but supportive for those who do. The nighttime entertainment has vastly improved since our last visit but a couple of the acts were not of a good standard, others excellent. We could not get BBC or ITV in our rooms which we were told was due to the channels blocking their broadcasts (and no this was not just to get us in the bar - it was the same elsewhere). However the hotel managed to show both channels in the TV lounge. This became quite crowded during several relevant World Cup fixtures but gave it atmosphere. The bar staff were super efficient and friendly. Negatives: 1. bathrooms need updating, getting a bit tired and cracked, can be difficult for some to climb in and out of the bath; 2. Excursions not too exciting but due to lack of suitable places; 3. Don't bother with a trip to Albufeira market! We were left for 3 hours for a trip to the 'gypsy' market which took ten minutes to walk around! Had we know what type of market it was we wouldn't have bothered. So walked in from there to the old town which takes about 30 minutes from the site. We will go to this hotel again the next time we want a truly relaxing break without expecting too much physical exertion!

Room Tip: If you don't want the sun in the afternoon ask for a room on the front of the hotel rather than...
