“add ons are a rip off”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

The Hotel is generally OK,clean and tidy, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food excellent. Some of the furnture in the public places are a little tired, dated and worn especially the chairs in the bar.
Entertainment was OK, the nightly singing duo were very good and most of the professional acts were as well with a few exceptions - a local brass bank is not really what we would expect as entertainment in a 4 star hotel on a Friday night ! But the real gripe is with the extra charges levied. Usaully when you book a hotel room you pay for everything in it. Not here. The hotel as usual denies any responsibility for items in the room so use the room safe,,,,,,at a cost of EUR 2.5 per day. No tea and coffee facility in our room so hire a kettle for EUR 2 per day, want to use the empty minibar even as a fridge for water,,,,,,,,,,EUR 2.5 per day. Should you want these items (the room safe is hardly an option ) it adds quite a lot on top of the cost of the holiday. It just seems mean spirited penny (Euro) pinching

Dear Guests,

Thank you for your review and I am pleased to see that you have enjoyed most of our services and unfortunately unhappy with some.

Entertainment is always going to be a difficult issue as it is not possible to please everybody as there are different tastes with different people, depending on age group, mentality of different nationalities etc, etc... these demographics are changing all the time and there is always an age difference that is present. We are trying to please everybody with at least few different acts.

We are very sorry to see that you are not keen on any extras charges. We strongly believe that any optional services that are not "a must have" or "would be nice to have" are much better to have as an option and the guest decides what one should have as an extra. As the other solution would be to include it all in the price of the accommodation and charge it to everybody - regardless if used or not.

I am sure that guests would not be happy if they were charged for the fridge but they would want to use it as mini bar only (no charge for actual rent as it is paid through the consumption of the drinks). There is no need to use the fridge as the mini bar with the drinks is always there and one pays only what is consumed. If bathrobes are not important to some guests - why they should be paying for them.
The same applies to Tea and Coffee facilities... or even safe (if one has not got any valuables - why to pay for safety deposit box). Coffee and Tea in the restaurant - the same reasons would apply. If one presume that if everything is included in the base price and this would not increase - one can get annoyed. But this is not the case. If extra would be included - the base price would go up. Hence you have got the possibility of booking Junior Suite where all these extras are already included but it is more expensive from standard room.

Of course, there are also "All inclusive" properties where everything is included but Falesia Hotel is not one of them. Of course - the price would be very different. Again - the most important is that the choice is left to the guests.

Hope the above explanation helps and one can see that reasons behind our thinking. Have a happy guests is our main aim.

Kind regards

We have visited this hotel five times now, and have Not been disappointed.
The hotel staff were very helpful as usual. The food was excellent ..
What else can I say, overall, first class hotel..
Will return again sometime to this hotel.. It was so peaceful, contrary to a review about dogs
Barking, in the 14 days we were they, I can honestly say, never heard a dog barking....

So glad the hotel sets a dress standard in the restaurant in the evening. Well done...

Returned to the Falesia for the 3rd time last week and wasn't disappointed. All the good points from our previous visits had been maintained - the excellent friendly staff, the dining experience, the cleanliness of the hotel and pool and the tranquillity of it's wonderful gardens.

OK as has been touched on in reviews by others on this site, the bedrooms and bathrooms are now looking a little tired/dated but they are nonetheless spotlessly clean.

The strength of this hotel (other than being adults only!) is definitely the staff who are always approachable and are genuinely "happy to help." Indeed on one occasion in the restaurant when I was struggling to pour my soup, a guy in a suit offered to do it for me....only the hotel manager Carlos. This guy genuinely does make it his business to be seen and be available for guests to share any concerns they may have and I do believe he would sort them personally.

The buffet meals in the restaurant offer a huge amount of choice and even at the busiest periods never run low. Oh and which hotel have you ever stayed in where they invite you on a guided tour of the kitchen when service is being prepared? They do here!!!

There are plenty of sunbeds and if there's no room around the pool the gardens are an excellent alternative.

I have read some negative points in previous reviews about the location - and I understand these if you're expecting a beach hotel because its at least 20 minutes away. But if you know this before you book surely you can't be shocked when you get there?? We like the hotel for being located in a quiet area away from the beach and bars.

The hotel offers a free shuttle bus to the beach but I would recommend walking it (cutting through the Pine Cliffs hotel and using their glass lift from within the gardens) provides a great opportunity to get some wonderful panoramic shots of the beach below and sea beyond.

All in all another excellent, relaxing holiday - we will be returning soon.

Room Tip: Junior suites are large and spacious and worth the extra money. End rooms next to staircases tend to...

We booked a 7 day holiday at above hotel on the 17th.July 2014.
The hotel staff couldn't have been better. They frequently asked if they could help to make our holiday unforgettable. All of them were fantastic.
Breakfast and evening meals were feasts of delight
Thomson staff there entertained us throughout the day and there was evening entertainment too.
We have never had such a wonderful holiday and cant wait to return asap. Thank you all.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the pool()balconies) were very good

Before reading the rest of this review, this is a fantastic hotel, the negatives should be considered as nit picking only. If you've booked here, you'll enjoy
Rooms are a little dated, a bit worn in places (chrome taps are at the end of their life, grout missing from the tiles here and there) but nothing bad. Rooms are very clean, beds and pillows comfy, air-con works
I defy anyone to complain about the breakfast. There's everything to suit everyone from Ghandhi to Billy Bunter including Champagne.I cant comment on evening meals as i object to wearing long trousers in 29C heat so we visited the local restaurants rather than comply with the hotels dress code. The lunchtime snack bar food/ drink was fresh and reasonably priced.
The thing that really makes this hotel is the staff, they're happy (the chef was singing) nothing is too much trouble, a real credit to this hotel. Our flight to the hotel was very early but they still made sure our room was ready when in theory , we may have had to wait until 2pm
The things i'd change are -
The hotel has fantastic ,well manicured grounds. Why they dont have some comfortable rattan chairs dotted about beggars belief. They're missing a trick here.
The poolside sunbeds , tho not worn, were horrible. They feel like they'll collapse at any minute.
The fridge we had only slightly chilled the items inside, even on its max setting it wasnt cold.
The two things that annoyed the most, i guess are out of the hotels control. There are no stairs to walk down to reception, only emergency stairs that lead outside that i assume they dont want you to use. I hated having to use the packed, airless lift
The "almost" in the title refers to the fact that neighbouring villas had dogs that would bark all night. And i mean all night. The hotel doors are double glazed so when closed, you hardly hear them. It would have been nice to be able to sleep with the aircon off and doors open.It would have been even nicer to have been able to shoot the b*+*@rds .
If you walk out of the hotel, down the steps (short walk) to the local bars/ restaurants, try Hugo's tapas bar (got drunk and fed for 14 euros and that was for the two of us) restaurant Pinhal is very good, O Antonio is excellent
Enjoyed my stay and will return

Room Tip: a suite is worth the extra

Dear Guests,

Thank you for your review .

It is great to see that there are also few suggestions for the improvement of our services which we will take on board and will be most beneficial when we are doing the refurbishment of the hotel in not too distant future. We are hoping to refurbish hotel in the next few winters where all the bathrooms and the rooms will be refurbished with some of the public areas as well.

We will not be a trendy and up to latest trends modern hotel but will be refreshed and traditional hotel where service will always be the most important measure and the guests would always come first.

Very sorry to see that your sleep was disturbed by the barking dogs from Villas next door. It is a pity this was not brought to our attention as the room change would resolve the problem. There are rooms that overlook the driving range of the next door Golf Course, where there are no dogs and no barking. Tip for the next visit.

Once again, thank you for your review and suggestions and do hope there will be the opportunity where we can discuss all the suggestions over a nice drink.

Kind regards

We have just returned from a great 11 night stay at this hotel. This is without exception the friendliest and best service we have ever experienced. The staff from reception to the maids are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant was beautiful and the food excellent, whatever your taste you couldn't fail to find something to suit you. We upgraded to a Junior Suite (12.50 eur. per day) which I would recommend as it included fridge, safe, daily water, tea and coffee making facilities. slippers, dressing gowns and an additional living area. The pool area is lovely and peaceful and if you are looking for a nice relaxing holiday then this is for you. The beach is within easy reach by courtesy bus or walking through the complex next door but sunbeds a little pricey (18 euros). I would highly recommend this hotel and will certain return.

Room Tip: A Junior Suite is great but I would ask for a pool view if possible.

If you're thinking of booking this hotel - then you should do it.
Falesia is a wonderful, clean and close to amenities.
Try to go half board as the food is wonderful. Breakfast has a wide variety of hot and cold options and some fresh fruits.
Dinner is always a special buffet with everything you would want- fish , seafood, chicken, beef etc.
Lots of options for vegetarians also.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool bar is lovely and relaxing. The spa facilities are good - indoor pool and jacuzzi. The grounds are well kept and it's walking distance to the beach or take the free shuttle from the hotel.
Thoroughly enjoyed the 4 night stay here with my mum.
Thomson also do evening entertainment during the holiday season which is also very nice.
No complaints from me!! :-)))
