Reviewed 29 August 2014

This is a lovely hotel if you want peace, quiet and relaxation with other like minded adults. Transfer from the airport is around 35 minutes once the coach leaves and we were the first of 3 drop offs and the last pick up on our return.
On arrival the hotel welcomed us with a glass of either sparkling wine or orange juice whilst the small queue checked in.
We then went up to our junior suite and our cases followed on with one of the reception team. We had requested a high, quiet room overlooking the gardens and were not disappointed. Our suite was as pictured in the brochure: a little dated and the bathroom in need of a refurb, which we understand is going to happen over the next couple of winter seasons. But it was scrupulously clean and comfortable. We were on the 3rd out of 4 floors and faced west towards Albufeira, overlooking the garden and ponds: this is worth noting as the other garden rooms face east and have a less expansive view.
Because we had upgraded to a suite, there was no charge for the safe but we did have to pay for the fridge. However, we had bottled water replenished daily, a small bottle of wine and a plate of fruit on arrival and towelling robes and slippers.
My tips for the room would be: take your own hairdryer if this is important to you as the one provided in the bathroom is worthy of the "Antiques Road Show"; take pegs for the balcony airer, as it does get windy and small items can blow off, only to be found in the garden later; take a wrap or light cardi for the evenings, as sometimes the wind is cool; and if you are a light sleeper ear plugs are useful against the noise of the air-conditioning unit.
We found the food both plentiful and varied and there were always chefs in the restaurant which was a nice touch. There is an opportunity to look round the kitchens, if you are with Thomsons, and these are clean and well managed.
The restaurant is large and never felt crowded. We chose to sit outside for breakfast, if there was no wind or in the far end of the room which was lighter. Here you could squeeze your own orange juice: delicious. For our evening meal we sat in the near end of the room: this is darker and has a more intimate feel.
All the staff are friendly and approachable and seem to go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The hotel, bar and restaurant managers and head chefs are often visible and equally friendly. The outside bar is nice during the day, with a half price happy hour from 5-6pm and is a good place to have an after dinner drink.
The pool area and gardens are as shown in the brochure.
The entertainment is the one area that we felt lets this hotel down. The resort is very small, with a few bars and eateries so most guests rely on the Thomson organised activities. During the day the team provide the usual good fun games and quizzes. But the evening entertainment is of a low quality and lacks variety. It would be nice to have something other than vocalists, singing comedians and tribute acts.
We tended to walk down to the beach and enjoy the sunsets and rock pools, including the fascinating "eyes of the water".
There was a good mix of ages here, although I suspect that the average age increases in early and late season, but it is a quiet hotel and resort. Those with restricted mobility may struggle outside the hotel, even though there is a free bus to the beach, there are still steps to manage.
The hotel also runs a bus service to Albufeira old town and Vilamoura for a reasonable charge which is a nice touch.

Room Tip: High room.3rd or 4th floor.Overlooking pool or gardens to west.

This was a return visit to the Falesia having enjoyed a 10 day holiday here last year. Our holiday this year was every bit as good as last years.
From the moment we arrived we encountered nothing but excellent service from warm, friendly staff that always seemed to be at the top of their game. The Reception team, headed up by the superb Celia, are a credit to the hotel and nothing is too much trouble for them. The restaurant serves up a great choice of quality food for breakfast and dinner; even when busy it was a comfortable experience. And have to mention the immaculately kept gardens which help set the Falesia aside from other hotels. They offer you another option when all you want is to lie back and enjoy a good book in peace and quiet. We returned home thoroughly energised, surely one of the main objectives of a good holiday.
All in all another super relaxing holiday at this outstanding hotel. Would we return again ? Most definitely.

Room Tip: A garden facing room is a good option

As you read through the various reviews on Trip Advisor you will see that this hotel has excellent and consistent reviews. Praise for the hotel, staff and the relaxing atmosphere. The food is excellent with a 21 day revolving menu which ensures there is always something different. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a relaxing time and enjoyed the entertainment. The hotel is in a quiet location with some small bars close by for a lunch time drink or snack. There are two supermarkets close by. My only small gripes are the extra cost for the safe, I can understand the extra cost for the fridge in the room as this directly impacts on the hotel as if you buy drinks at the supermarket and chill in your room you then deprive the hotel of a sale at the bar, but can't understand the extra cost of the safe. Also we had two single beds pushed together to form a double bed - however each bed had its own sheet and quilt and meant we slept in seperate beds - a little strange. As I've said these are only minor gripes and there are more positives than these minor issues. Would we come back, yes - for a relaxing holiday with good summer weather.

Dear Guests,

Thank you very much for your kind review. We are always happy to read any comments and if they bring the improvement to our future visitors - that much better.

I am around the hotel most days and I am very pleased if I can talk to our guests and listen to any suggestions that they might have in order to improve our service. We are very proud of our staff and the service that they provide - but I am well aware there is always place for some improvements, too.

I am very happy to see that you have enjoyed most of the aspects of your holiday and that there are also few suggestions. Thank you for those.
I would also like to explain about the charge for safety deposit box which is due to the fact that all safes are rented and not owned by the hotel. But in our planned future refurbishment we might be thinking of different ideas and solutions.

I am very sorry to see that you were allocated the room with two single beds instead of a double room. Unfortunately it can happen but as soon as we are aware of the fact, we will try our very best to put it right. I do apologise again. If your preferred arrangements are the double bed, please do let us know in advance in order not to be disappointed upon the arrival.

Once again, thank you for your thoughts and we are looking forward to welcoming you back to the Falesia Hotel in not too distant future.

Kind regards

The Falesia Hotel is a gold Hotel from the Thompson group. We had a rather dated drab junior suite looking out onto the garden, not much to see really. The bed was good, and the shower was acceptable. The food was excellent as was the service. The entertainment was average.
All in all it was ok. The location of the hotel is a good walk away from the beach, we used the access through the Hotel next door and they had a lift and boardwalk to the beach very good idea to get down the cliff side.

Dear Guests,

Thank you very much for your thoughts regarding your stay with us. Our main aim is to have happy and satisfied guests. We are not very pleased to see an average satisfaction. It only means that we have not done the job properly.

We are well aware that are not modern and up to date establishment and we are not aiming to be that. We are planning the refurbishment of the bedrooms in the next two winter seasons but we will remain to be traditional and updated hotel with great service.
And for this visit - we are disappointed that we could not do better. My welcome letter on the second day of your stay is also inviting everybody to let us know immediately if we are not meeting any of the expectations and I am sure you can agree with me that they differ from person to person. If we are aware of them - we always try and do our very best to meet them. Only a small tip for the next visit as we do not want to be an average hotel with an average service. If we know the individual expectations - we can provide much better service.

I am happy to see that you think Falesia Hotel is still a nice hotel, but I promise you that we can do better. Do hope to see you sometime in the future.

Kind regards

We stayed at this hotel from 7th to 14 August and had such a relaxing time. The transfer from the airport was only 35 mins and we were greeted with drinks whilst we waited to check in. We had a lovely big Junior Suite which was more than adequate for the two of us.

As a lot of other reviewers mention, the food here is great and we enjoyed the selection of cocktails available in the evenings.

The entertainment team at the hotel were great and you could join in as little or much as you liked. There was no pressure to join in anything. We enjoyed the daily quiz around the pool every afternoon. Evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss. The resident duo and Thomson teams are great, as were the Lomas Brothers. The other entertainment was a bit below par, but then from experience this is the standard evening entertainment you tend to see abroad. Never the less we still enjoyed our evenings.

All the staff at the hotel were lovely and friendly and nothing felt to much trouble. The staff in the local supermarket and shops were also very friendly as well.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a laid back holiday spent around the pool. I now other people have mentioned the slightly older age group of those staying at the hotel (we are in our late thirties), but we found the week we stayed that there was more a mixture of ages staying. On the plus size you don't get hoards of teenagers or stag do's at the hotel. We found the other residents all very pleasant and got talking to lots of people staying at the hotel.

We would love to return to this hotel sometime soon.

Room Tip: Junior Suites are great as you get a free safe, kettle, slippers and dressing gowns as well as fruit...

We have just returned from our 3rd holiday at the Falesia, travelling as a family with our two children in their twenties and can say that we all thoroughly enjoyed our two week break. There was a good mix of ages staying at the hotel, not just the over 60s, as mentioned in some previous reviews. A big change this year was the visible presence of the manager Carlos, who was always around to give helpful advice or merely a pleasant greeting, at all times ensuring that everything was running smoothly for guests. The wide range of food on offer at dinner and breakfast meant that there was always a choice and we found the menu interesting and varied. An especial favourite was Chef Angelo's bread and butter pudding and the delicious custard! All staff are friendly and helpful and cannot do enough for you, although this year I did miss the towel art creations which we had left on the bed each day last year! We enjoyed the welcome back gift of port and sweets and our daughter was delighted to receive a complimentary bottle of bubbly on her birthday.

Disappointingly, the quality of the entertainment was not as good, or varied as in previous years and the nightly quizzes seemed very repetitive. I would agree with a previous review 'Come on Thomson, you can do better'.

Overall, as expected, The Falesia did not disappoint and we will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: Garden view rooms are lovely
