Could not fault this hotel, rooms cleaned every day with fresh towels, staff very friendly, the only down side of this Thomson Gold hotel is you have to pay 25 euros for rental of the fridge for a week, nothing much around the hotel only one bar up from hotel called The Brothers, other than that you have to get taxis to the strip or the Old Town which is 7 euros each way,and taxis are very hard to get,we had to wait 35 mins in taxi quere, even if you book taxi from the hotel you still have to wait for about 30 minutes.

Well we went on May this year with a booking.com promotion....We arrived and they didnt have our reserv. But the Lady in the reception was amazing...in a flash and allways smiling she reserved us a room and upgraded us from a standard room to a top floor junior suite with all its perks.
The room was amazing, big room, big bed, the TV chanells were good, it had water, wine, fruite and tea/cafe every day in the room.
The breakfast was very good indeed. We didnt eat dinner or lunch there.
Thank god for the indoor pool and jacuzi...because outside was freezing.
Very good free parking with shadow.
The only negative here was the hotel animation....if you arent english well, theres no animation for you, unless you like to stay we a bunch of english doing english games and etc.But nothing to stay about english guest...they were very polite and friendly.

Very Nice hotel indeed....

We have just returned from a week's stay at the Falesia and while we enjoyed our stay on the Algarve, there are aspects of this hotel that people should be aware of.
Firstly it must be said that the staff are excellent and the pool and gardens are clean and well-kept.If you eat meat, the food is excellent with plenty of choice and variety. As vegetarians we found the food variable in quality with an over-reliance on tinned/frozen vegetables and fruit. Also the choice and variety was sometimes limited but this is something that we are fairly used to.
We found that the rooms were not of 4* standard. We had to reject two because of strong urine smells and noisy external generators, finally settling on a room at the front which had a lovely view over the gardens and hills beyond. All rooms are very basic with minimal uncomfortable furniture and drab, stark decoration. The bathrooms are tired and worn-out with cracked tiles aplenty, dirty grout, mildew in places and all the fittings, taps etc are all badly scratched and limescaled over. Most irritating of all you are expected to pay extra for the use of an empty mini-bar[25euros per week] and also for the use of the safe[18 euros]. In nearly 40 years of travel on 3 continents this is the first time that I have encountered such a shabby money-grabbing tactic which is all the more insulting as the mini-bar merely cools slightly and does not actually get cold.
Anyone thinking of staying here should realise that the Falesia is NOT well-situated as it is well away from the seafront. This means that in the evenings you only have the option of strolling along a main road unless you take a taxi into Albufeira or visit the Sheraton nextdoor. The other option is staying in the hotel and being at the mercy of the "entertainment" which if you are into Butlins-style holidays with low-grade end-of-the-pier singing acts might just be for you. We could not see the point in travelling 2000 miles to spend time listening to appalling British entertainment. There was an evening with some local input but overall there was hardly any awareness nor acknowledgement of portuguese culture.
If you are happy to spend your days and evenings at the hotel, are not fussy about room quality and like rubbishy entertainment then this hotel will probably meet your needs and more. We would not return because the location and room quality are definitely big negatives with the latter making this a 3* quality hotel.

The Falesia Hotel is in a peaceful location, ideal if you need a restful holiday. Good size pool (wasn’t too cold) and nice gardens for relaxing. We had a junior suite on the ground floor with a very comfortable double bed, very comfortable pillows, a separate lounge area, a balcony which overlooked the gardens and Sheraton golf course (nice and shady in the evening after a day in the sun). The corridors were also carpeted (so no clip-clopping of feet in the early hours!) and room had good sound-proofing. The room had good air-conditioning, a fridge (17.50 Euros for the week – but we had already read about that and didn’t mind) and tea/coffee making facilities, safety deposit box (no charge), bath robes and slippers (no charge). A bottle of wine and water on arrival and the water was replenished every day (no charge).
The rooms were cleaned thoroughly and towels changed every day.
The restaurant offered a good variety of food (good English breakfast – no hot dog sausages!) and excellent desserts at dinner. Good dining times: breakfast 08.00 to 10.30 and dinner 18.30 to 21.30.
ALL staff including Thomson reps, Gold reps, reception and restaurant/ bar staff were extremely efficient, helpful and friendly.
Access to the beach via the lift at the Sheraton Hotel next door, took 10 minutes via the-tree lined Sheraton/Pine Cliffs driveway, then a further 5 minutes down the decked walkway to the beach front (and Sheraton beach bar). This beach bar is a nice place to stop off on your way back (but a large beer costing 5 Euros). There are also showers and toilets here. We were cheeky and used the very comfortable sun beds of the Sheraton shaded garden area for a short snooze on our way back to the hotel after the walk from the beach (and were never challenged)!
The walk along the beach to Vilamoura Marina took us an hour, with stops on the way for an ice-cream and a drink.
The hotel runs a free bus to the beach and back 4 times a day (09.30, 12.00, 2.30 and 5.30). It also runs a bus to Vilamoura and Albufeira a couple of days a week (there is a charge). However, there is a local bus to Albufeira, but last one about 19.00 – reception will give you a timetable (bus stop on the main road at the end of the drive).
We caught the last bus to Vilamoura 19.05 (2.60 Euros each, but the bus stop is about 15 minutes walk away). Taxis were scarce in this particular area and we weren’t able to order one by phone as they were all busy (but it was the height of the season), however, we were lucky twice and managed to flag one down on the main road. Taxi queue in Albufeira (returning at 11.30 pm) was very busy (we waited for approx 30 minutes).
Walk straight forward from the hotel and down the path and steps to the main road, there are is a small wine and tobacco shop/cafe and a couple of ‘local style’ bars and eateries close to the hotel plus Brothers Bar at the end of the drive, where drinks are cheaper. Also, there is a supermarket and newsagent within 5 minutes walk.
Our evenings were spent by once making our own way to Albufeira, once to Vilamoura and a few times stayed locally or watch the hotel entertainment which was of varied quality, but the entertainers were very enthusiastic and energetic. There was an excellent “Pure Classics” evening professionally performed by the Thomson Gold team. We also sat outside on the decked area by the pool, if we didn’t want to watch the show (however, this area seemed to be lacking some ambience).
We also took the Adult only catamaran trip/BBQ along the coast and thoroughly enjoyed it.
To sum up, the hotel is not a “plush” 4 star hotel, could do with a lick of paint in some areas and the bathroom was a little tired looking, but makes up with excellent service and relaxation factors. Everyone has different expectations from a holiday, we wanted a good rest with the opportunity to do our own thing and for those reasons we can definitely recommend it. Enjoy!

We have recently returned from a 2 week stay at the Falesia where we enjoyed a lovely holiday. Our party consisted of 4 adults and we had a really excellent time.
The hotel is medium-sized with plenty of room , with a reasonable choice of facilities and no shortage of sunbeds.
Hotel staff were friendly and efficient and the restaurant offered a wide range of good quality food.
The in house entertainment team were very talenetd and offered a good choice of games / shows etc.
We certainly recommend this hotel and will be returning here for another holiday.

Just spent a very relaxing week at The Falesia. Weather was beautiful all week. Spent all week by the pool lapping up the rays. There is entertainment during the day but you can pick and choose whether you take part. Staff are not too pushy which is good. We enjoyed the daily quiz and the morning relaxation activity in the pool - yoga, boxing etc. All good fun. Our room was standard - very large and a great view over the pool. Everything that we needed. As foodies, Breakfast and Dinner were always a highlight. We love the Buffet style as you can pick and choose all that you want. Food was good. Lots of options to suit all tastes. Obviously staff can't cater for all tastes so if you like things done a certain way you may be let down but that's a negative of buffets and not with the chefs. Chefs were always on hand to help you with your choices which was a great touch. I cannot fault any of the staff at The Falesia. Everyone was friendly and helpful. All a credit to the hotel.
Yes, the entertainment is not to everyones tastes but they all try their best to make everyone happy. They are fantastic. We loved the 'Pick of the 6' each night but didn't
win :(( The 'Top Comedy Act' really was not our cup of tea - quite poor in my opinion but you win some, you lose some. It was worth seeing them anyway.
All in all, a brilliant week. We loved the quietness of the Hotel - if you are going looking for nightlife and lots to do then don't go here but if you want a nice relaxing holiday in peace then definitely try The Falesia.

This is a Thomson Gold hotel - adults only.

We flew from Stansted on a Thomson aircraft leaving at 6:00 am, and arrived at the Falesia Hotel before 10:00 am only to find that the official booking in time is 4:00 pm, what are you supposed to do until your room is ready? This is not explained in the Thomson brochure.

When we eventually booked in we found that you have to pay £25 to use the fridge - outrageous! Never encountered this before, especially in a so called 4 star hotel.

Room and bathroom in serious need of refurbishment, we had a chair in our room with a broken back which had been glued together, bathroom had black mould growing on the tile grout, however the standard of cleanliness was good, due to the very good housekeeping staff.

Food was pretty average, vegetables were generally overcooked, and in an area renowned for fruit production, tinned fruit salad was continuously served both at breakfast and dinner.

Hotel grounds and pool are very well kept, with more than enough loungers, so no need to reserve with your towels, this is a refreshing change, however did find a dead rat on the lawn one day. If you wanted drinks in the garden these had to be collected from the pool bar, the staff have been instructed by the hotel management that they are not to provide trays for safety reasons!!! What can be more unsafe than carrying hot cups of coffee and pots of tea over uneven paths and grass?

The entertainment staff were enthusiastic if a trifle loud,no complaints there.

Have previously stayed in Thomson Gold hotels in the past and have been most satisfied, unfortunately not this time.
