We have just returned from a long weekend at the Cerro Malpique 2 apartments & it was fab!!.. We had booked a superior room at the time of booking and we were so glad we did. The apartments at Cerro 1 looked ok, bit drab, but when we got to our room (superior) we were made up. Beautiful view of the roof tops and distant beach and we had 2 balconies. 1 balcony (small) with a view of the pool & the other side (big) balcony with a view of the roof tops and beach, this balcony was also private as no one over looked us, it was equipped with 4 sun loungers, parasol, tables and chairs so ample for just the 2 of us, spoilt for choice as to were to sit or sun bath!! :)
Large area in the apartment with dining table, tv, comfy seats, tv has some English channels. We had air con which we paid a 30 euro deposit for and got the deposit back when we returned the remote controls. Kitchen had everything we needed, including microwave, oven fridge with freezer, kettle etc.... Bathroom had powerful shower in bath, clean and also a small hairdryer!!!!!!!
We had a lovely 3 day stay and we will definately return. We asked at reception if you are able to book a particular room to stay in but you cannot not. You can make a request but it will only be honoured if it is available, which is fair enough i suppose.
Yes there are stairs to go down and up (of course) to get to the square and beach, 93 in total. If you just take your time it really is ok, we flew up after a few tipples, but in the heat it was a little more of a struggle, if you have dodgy knee's it could be a problem..... But there is such a thing as taxi's, so it was a small price to pay for the beautiful views & peace & quiet that we had.
We loved the apartments, the area, the restaurants, bars, street entertainment & to top it all, it was 30 degrees, so all in all, perfect!!!!! TIP: Lovely restaurant on the beach front called El Rancho, loveyl food and staff friendly, try the sizzling stones, something different.. Really cannot wait to go back, enjoy your trip.................

Room Tip: Superior rooms are great, spacious, well equipped and side balcony completely private.

we have just had a nice stay in cerro malpique. the appt itself was excellent, probably the most spacious we have ever had. the downside was we were in the second block which was down a path, down 30 steps, down another path, out on to the road up the hill approx 300 yards into the other complex and then up another path and more steps. not recommended for anybody with health problems. we would also advise people not too eat at the small restaurant at the back of the complex.

Must admit I was a bit worried before we arrived at the hotel as I was the person who had booked the holiday and was concerned whether the apts would come up to scratch for my friends. Am happy to say they did! The apts were huge and had a very well equipped kitchen, complete with dishwasher!
They were in a fab location just above the old town,5 mins walk away down steps. The beach is probably about 10mins walk but is not a problem as there are plenty of shops, bars and cafes on the way.
The only minor downside to these apts would prob be the steps but they didn't cause us any problems

The older block which we stayed in was dated with broken tiles etc but they are large and for what you pay for good value for money, beds hard but thats normal, reception were friendly, we asked Daniel for an upgrade and he showed us around but could only offer us a ground floor apartment when we were currently on the 2nd floor with the best view so we stayed where we were, when your booking you need to book the superior apartments to get the upgraded apartments so be prepared if you dont book these you will get the more dated apartments, if you come out of the front and go to the right the steps lead straight to the main square and are not as bad as the other ones, these apartments are great value for money we had BBC1 and channel 4 and the most comfy sofa ever. We were woken up by people talking most nights as the noise seems to echo.

Room Tip: We upgraded to a one bed apartment when we got there for 5 euros a night which was worth every penny.

We have just arrived back from a Weeks Holiday at these Apartments and we would really recommend this hotel, It was spotless clean, the staff were very pleasant and friendly, the only down side was the 100 stairs to get into the town what we done was walked down and got a taxi back. The Apartment was also very spacious with everything that we needed to enjoy our stay. The pool although not very big had ample sun loungers and was never very busy. We will certainly go back again and will recommend it to our Family and Friends.
