“Nice Apartments, But!”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

Just returned after a 9 night stay. Very spacious well equipped apartments and really clean. However, we booked with Jet 2 and felt like second class citizens compared to people who had booked with Thomsons. We were allocated an apartment across the road, not a good location, it was overlooking a busy road, so lots of traffic noise and barking dogs, hardly relaxing. To reach the apartment you had to go through three gates, a door and into a lift, then you entered a gloomy corridor which was like a cave, no light at all. We had requested a sea view, and if you stood on a chair or table you could just about see the sea. Only Thomsons guests stay in the main hotel. While we were there they were installing some wooden steps, this took several days, so lots of
noise with drilling etc. Hotel was spotless, breakfast adequate and most of the staff were friendly. Would return but only booking via Thomsons. Definitely not for people with mobility problems, 97 steps to reach the square, so you need to be pretty fit.

Room Tip: You need to be in the main hotel

6 of us stayed for 4 nights in the 3 bed apartment, the apartment was massive with a great balcony, rooms were very clean and specious,
Maid service daily,
Walk to the old town ok, the steps are fine, we just needed a taxi home after a few wines :)
We had a great time here. And will be back :)

Room Tip: 3 bed apartment is massive it was plenty of space of 6 adults

Friendly staff on check in, can't fault the rooms and facilities. Such a shame on the finer details, e.g when you have a genuine issue, uninterested and unaccomodating staff. Our room was directly under a hotel event, no notice , kept awake by staff setting up (2days) and live music scheduled. We're offered to move apartment but to another building across the street, which suggests they understood our complaint, but chose not to go out of their way to address our issue. An invite to the event is all that was needed!

When we arrived we were checked swiftly by a very efficient friendly guy he told me that my request had been accommodated and that I have been allocated a lovely apartment. He gave us a voucher for a free bottle of wine for the restaurant that night and a small map showing us to our apartment.

We were allocated room 503 in the Atlantic view building. The apartment was huge. Fully fitted kitchen with washing machine fridge freezer and dishwasher. The bedroom was spacious with large double wardrobe with a safe. The was a balcony off the bedroom with great views of the sea. The the best part, once we pulled back the curtain in the living room we had a massive balcony shared with one other apartment the gorgeous views over the old town and the sea.

The apartment was spotless and the housekeepers were brilliant and very friendly.

Wifi is very expensive it was 30 euro for 7 days which is a bit expensive.

There was a pool in our block but we preferred to use the pool in the main gardens building as the sun lasted there all day and also the pool bar was there with food and drinks.

There is also an indoor and a Jacuzzi, swimming hats must be worn here.
There was a spa and a 2 Lane bowling alley but we didn't use those.

The apartment were on a steep hill the Atlantic view building was halfway on the Hill across from the main gardens building and the colina block was at the top of the hill.

The steps to the old town were fine going down but on the way back up they were a killer even for us 20 odd year olds and then the hill after but I wouldn't let this put me off staying here.

I would definitely recommend these apartments and will return in the future.

First time to these apartments and they are really fantastic. My friend and I had Apt 504 which had a large balcony and a large terrace which was perfect for sunbathing. The apartments are extremely well equipped with a dishwasher and washing machine and proper cooker. The only thing missing was a microwave which is unusual these days. The pool area for the block is nicely presented but not a lot of sun beds and you get the usual scrum to lay your towel down before everyone else - ugh !. The hotel is where you check in and the staff were very friendly. We also used some of the spa facilities at the hotel (indoor pool and had a massage) which were both very welcome when the weather was not great. In terms of location you are a 10 minute walk up the hill to both an Aldi and Lidl which are really well stocked supermarkets. There is also a mini mart next door which is handy for water and the heavy items. With regards to the old town it is down a good few steps but unless you have walking difficulties these are not a problem at all and once down you are right in the heart of all the bars and restaurants, of which there is plenty to choose from. I would not hesitate to recommend these apartments and I have stayed in the Brisa Sol twice which I thought were excellent but these beat them hands down so enjoy. The apartments are also serviced every day which was most welcom.

Room Tip: Apartments at the top are best.

Me, my husband and 3 young children stayed at Cerro Mar Garden for the first week in June.
Cerro Mar is a lovely, comfortable, spacious and clean self catering accommodation. The pools are a good size and staff are generally very helpful.
Unfortunately Albufeira Old Town has changed a great deal since our last visit and now caters for a huge number of stag and hen parties. This is OK but it just got a little tiresome being woken numerous times in the night as drunken parties returned home.
I probably wouldn't return with a young family again.

I was expecting average but was pleasantly suprised...this hotel is "outstanding" ! Great location, 10 minute walk down to the old town and lovely beach, far enough away to have peace and quiet at night, the steps to the old town are very gradual and wide (not steep). Beautiful gardens around the hotel buildings, great pools, The small quiet roads that divide the hotel buildings are not a problem and never busy. Hotel staff were professional and also friendly/helpful. Our 1 bedroom apartment was spacious and modern and comfortable, the kitchen was great, a galley style kitchen , fully equipped with dishwasher and washing machine. (Great when you have young kids and are there for 2 weeks !) We had an amazing view of the pool and the sea. We chose self catering since our kids are a bit fussy, there is an Aldi and a Lidl withn 10 minutes walk behind the hotel, we were suprised at how good they were and very cheap. We did eat at the hotel breakfast buffet which was very good and priced very reasonable.. 7Euros per adult 3Euros per child ! Can't beat that ! We ate evening meals in the old town sometimes, the chinese resturant Alibaba was excellent, great food, our kids loved it so much we had to go back 3 times ! There is a market one day each week not too far from the hotel, we walked there and back with our kids (around 25 min walk), its a nice walk, we got a huge box of sweet strawberries for 3 euros and other fruits, all very cheap and great quality. KFC & McDonalds are also not far from the hotel if you want the occasional fast food, opposite is Continente... a great supermarket where you can pick up familiar bits if necessary (Robinsons squash, Sprite & other home favourites). We would certainly go back to Cerro Mar, fabulous hotel, location & holiday !

Room Tip: Request a sea view/pool view..you wont be disappointed ! : ))
