Well back we came to this hotel and to be honest it does the job perfectly we know the staff fairly well and often chat with them and they aren,t the grumps people make out .If you want near the old town and bar street but a bit of peace and quiet through the day this does just fine,The new coffee machine is great and the improvement in the quality of the pool water is appreciated ...new loungers for next year hopefully ,thanks to Fernando (can you here the drums) and Ugenie xxx.

stayed here last weekend and for the price the hotel was kept clean and tidy, decent enough breakfast for a snack although nothing special, i had room 12 which seemed to struggle for hot water which wasn't best and atm work being carried out on road outside, but you know this hotel cost very little and for what we all paid you couldn't fault it satisfactory stay although lets be honest if your expecting 5 star then pass on this one its a good quality 2-3 star nearer 2, beds comfortable and aircon in room left you shivering it was that good! its location is spot on for the old town square

Room Tip: avoid room 12 as no bath and shower cold other rooms were better, road sewer works atm so bit noisy...

Just come back from a week in Albuferia with my husband and stayed at the Colina do Mar. Great value for money and yes you do get what you pay for, the rooms are of a good size, clean and tidy and very comfortable. The breakfast is continental but lots of it, fruit, eggs, cold meats, muesli & various breads. The location is great for Old Town Albuferia, the hill may be a problem for some, not for us though and we aren't the most fittest people in the world. I did miss a balcony though, the roof terrace though is open all the time though, where you can find the pool.

Stayed here for a week in june. Its a basic and small hotel. I would say it's more like a bed & breakfast. It is situated very close to the amenities of the old town but is on a very steep hill so not recommended for those with walking difficulties. The room we had was quite large and was clean but with no luxuries, ok as we didn't spend much time in it. The pool is a small rooftop one with only a few sunbeds, we did always manage to get one though. The bar was never open when we were there but you're close enough to plenty of them so it didn't matter. All in all a good budget option for a week in Albufiera.

For what we paid (£75 for a twin room with breakfast for 4 nights) this hotel was absolutely fine as we didn't intend to spend much time there. All we required was a clean, comfortable bed & a decent shower which the Colina do Mar provided. I agree that soundproofing isn't great - pack some earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

Location is excellent, a very short walk into the old town and to the beaches. Numerous bars & restaurants are close by. Breakfast was perfectly adequate - we had muesli each morning with fresh pineapple or melon & yogurt and fresh bread which made great toast. There was also boiled eggs, ham, chorizo & cheese. Choice of teas and I thought the coffee was fine. (There are good espressos to be had everywhere in Portugal for less than a euro).

Good to have a fridge (for keeping water and chocolate cool) and kettle in the room.

We didn't use the pool (bit chilly) but it was clean and the views from the rooftop are great. Sunbeds are a bit tatty and there were no umbrellas for shade. This isn't Sandals but for less than a tenner a head per night including breakfast it's an ideal base from which to enjoy the old town, beaches, coast, food and wine which are all fabulous.

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014

This hotel stay was disapointing, we arrived early April, the pool was dirty and out of order, the room okay but basic, the breakfast very basic continental, okay if you like toast and below average coffee. The staff were the most disapointing of all, The bar...don't ask or you will be told to go to the shop! And hotel rules that seem to differ on a daily basis, generaly they were rude and bad tempered. As a plus it is in a good location, and if you dont mind temper tantrums in the breakfast room from staff, its ok.
PS the restaurant at the bottom of the hill is well worth a visit.
