“Bad customer service”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

We stayed in apartment 29, 18-25th March. We arrived at 11.30pm and just needed to sleep. First impressions were good - the fella on reception was friendly and pointed us in the direction of our apartment, which looked great at first glance. Then the problems started. The beds are hard, the 1 pillow you get is huge and very firm.. too uncomfortable to sleep on properly. We booked a double room and got 2 single beds. We woke up every morning with a sore neck and shoulders due to the awful pillows. In the morning we inspected the apartment properly and found that a lot of areas were not clean at all and..

- There was water and greasy marks all over the walls and dust in the kitchen.
- The shower wasn't attached and the water kept running hot and cold
- We had a MAJOR problem with ants in the bedroom
- There was a light switch in the doorway, but they'd taken the light out!
- None of the cutlery matched, we had different sized/shaped everything
- The freezer door was broken and wouldn't close
- The plate in the microwave didn't spin
- It stank under the sink, and there was a smell of smoke for the first few days
- There was no sink drainer - where do they want us to put wet plates?!
- And as expected.. nothing to wash up with, and no tea towel

We told the lady on reception about the shower problem when we left in the morning and somebody came to fix it before tea, however it wouldn't point anywhere but the floor, so we had to get out onto a wet floor.

Day 2 - We wanted toast for breakfast so we went to ask at reception for a toaster before heading outside again. When we returned for tea we still hadn't got one, so we asked a second time before heading out at night. The fella on reception checked to see if they had any spare, and said he'd take one across now. When we returned, there was still no toaster!

Day 3 - 3rd time lucky, we asked for a toaster.. and finally got one by tea time! We also had to ask for a remote for the TV.. which had a very bad signal, we could only get Sky News

During our stay we noticed the hotel used to be a 4 star.. we wondered why it was nicely decorated. The pool was reasonably clean, but wasn't cleaned once while we were there. The towels in the bathroom were changed everyday, but they'd seen better days. The cleaners didn't mop the floor at all.

Day 6 - After putting up with hundreds of ants we'd had enough. We told the receptionist about the problem at 11am and nobody came to sort it until 4pm, when a cleaner put powder down. My boyfriend struggled to get them to understand what "ants" were.. seems like their English isn't great.

There was only about 5 other rooms occupied at this time so it's not as if they were too busy. As there was so many rooms free, we wondered why they'd put us all together. We had neighbours above us and at the side, and the walls were paper thin so we could hear everything!! If they didn't go to sleep until 12, then neither did we! The apartment is on the ground floor, so we had no sun to the balcony whatsoever, which we were a bit disappointed about. We didn't order any drinks or food here, but there was no staff in the bar area to order anything anyway.

The old town is a good 25 mins walk and the nearest beach about 10 mins. There is a little supermarket just up the road. It's a good job we went at this time of year as the nightclub "Kiss" is right outside the door (and was closed until April). I'm not surprised so many people are kept awake.

I will also mention that the cleaner walked in on us naked at 9.40am check-out day! There was no need for them to come in until we'd left!!

Don't bother staying here. There are plenty of other hotels and apartments around, many 3 and 4 star and look much nicer, and probably cleaner! We wouldn't stay again.

Room Tip: I wouldn't bother, but if you have to.. choose an apartment facing the pool, not on the ground f...

Stayed here as a couple 17th-20th Jan.
Reception staff incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was really modern and absolutely spotless, the maids were in everyday to change towels and tidy up. The bathroom was a bit on the small side, where it’s a bit of a struggle to get into the shower, this wasn’t a massive issue for us but I imagine it would be a bit tricky for someone older.
The hotel is in a great location and easy to get to both the strip and the old town. The room was a little cold however we were there in the winter and I imagine these are hotels are built for summer. The only other problem was noise of furniture being moved around constantly, at first I thought it may be cleaners but it continued at 8pm and then I was awoken one night at 2am to the same sound. Im not sure that this is the fault of the hotel and I could have asked to be moved, but didn’t due to the short amount of time we were there. The beds were quite hard which my boyfriend was fine with however I struggled to sleep initially but you get used to it.
There are 2 blocks to this hotel, the main hotel where reception is and another larger block which is set back a bit. We were in the ‘other block’ and had a pool view but we could also see the nightclub, I don’t think it was open while we were there so we didn’t hear anything but id definitely email the hotel and make sure your not in the main hotel as this is closer to the nightclub.
Overall our stay at the Topazio was nice; we probably would stay here again but would have a few requests regarding the room location.

Arrived at the hotel to be greeted by a nice receptionist. Got to the room and our feelings changed. Very dirty and cold. The bed were rock hard and the pillows if you can call them that, were like cotton wool balls inside, no support whatsoever. The room maids do not clean the rooms properly, disgusting. When complaining, another receptionist was on who couldn't speak English, very frustrating. She couldn't even understand basic words like towels or time! She was also very rude. The bar man was lovely and spoke excellent English, the menu was typical prices. £6 for a cocktail for example. Location is rather good, close to a bus stop, which takes you to small town and to the main bus station. A lot of things are closed as its out of season, something to be aware off if you booked to go to Kiss. it's Closed until April. When checking out, they never asked what our problem was. Would never stay there again.

we arrived late at night, but thought it a nice touch to have a bottle of water in the room. the apartment was very clean and spacious with everything you would need including hair dryer. my only gripe was the kettle wasn't electric and the tv only had sky news. the tv had a built in dvd recorder, so take some with you. the location was very good. our apartment was at the back of the hotel, so was never bothered by the night club, everyone is moaning about.going this time of year was very quiet, a lot of the bars were closed and don't open until march. for food best value for money was in the old town, i'l cappuccino, run by Portuguese, you get 1/2 caref of wine, my partner also had a pint, crusty bread with pate and olives whilst you order youre 3 course for only 7.50 euros. the best way to find this is turn right when you get to the roundabout with the giant worms on them, then left,go past the library and walk right to the end of the street.. also there's the cottage kitchen on the strip, for good home cooked food for 6.95 for 2 courses or 7.95 for 3.for something a bit more up market try invictus, turn right before the strip. will say though there steaks are thin cut. paddy's bar is very friendly and welcoming, haven't been open long, but do 2 4 1 between 3 and 6, also you get crisps and nuts for nibbles on you're table free.we stayed hear for one week and would recommend it. definitely going back again.

Room Tip: if you don't like the noise from the disco go to the back in one of the apartments.

Nice hotel, nice staff, nice breakfast every morning with a central location.

Clean Rooms cleaned daily. Nice pool and snack area also.

But we were woken every night by the night club across the road. Noise starts about 1 or 2am and finishes about 6 or 7am every night our balcony may as well be been in the nightclub.

We ourselves were out late every night but even with alcohol the noise was too much and we couldn't sleep such a pity as the hotel itself was good,
