I'll allow you to make your own mind up about the Mirachoro Apartments. However if this review helps then I'm glad to have been of assistance.

I stopped in the Mirachoro apartments for 5 days in June 2011. I was the stag in a 6 man group of friends all looking forward to a few days drinking and relaxing. Within seconds of arriving we were being shouted and cajoled by some young "cockney's" from the balcony above, a theme that ran through the whole 5 days. We found the reception staff helpful but it was annoying that everything incurred a charge, want a safe? 12 Euros. Want a phone call made? 50 cents. Want a local map 50 cents. Want the TV remote? Thats 10 Euro's! Its little things like this that annoy people and yet makes them penny's in terms of cash, surely a sign it should be discontinued?

On arriving in our rooms I found them to be spacious, clean, well located but like an oven, luckily I have done a fair amount of travelling and a vital part of any room is Air Conditioning or at least a fan (Ceiling or Portable) to help with the heat, we had nothing. The bedroom was average and the bathroom was acceptable, overall it looked a little tired and jaded but what do you expect for £7 a night per person!! We had a fridge that worked (For Beer!) a Tele that didn't, towels that were changed every two days, bed sheets that were not. The twin rooms beds were fine, the futon was not.

The pool is tiny and seemed to be overrun with visitors, however it was good natured fun and nothing too crazy or boisterous took place, well until the locals showed up on the Saturday! Cue 12 hours of screaming, drinking and swearing, and they say us Brits are poor guests!

The surrounding area was worrying, it really was like 1980's Beirut, abandoned cars, decrepit buildings and stray dogs littered the streets, gangs of Africans and local kids hung around, and for a young lady, or group of ladies, it would have been quite intimidating, I didn't see or hear of any trouble but its something to think about. A short 5 Min walk and you're at Erin's Bar, the biggest disappointment this side of the Algarve (see separate review), a cheap supermarket and then another 5 mins and you're at the top of the strip. So everything is reachable in 15/20 mins.

Listen, its cheap, its not that cheerful but it is clean and the staff are helpful.

I've had far better holiday accommodation, I've also had equally and worse that have cost a lot more.

What more can you ask for £35 for 5 nights?

Stayed here for 3 nights - girls holiday, 8 of us in two rooms. Taxi driver had a job finding the apartments but after showing him the map we arrived ok.
Check-in staff very helpful and friendly (through out or stay). Both rooms clean and well equipped (rooms cleaned and towels changed during our stay) Plenty of space in each room.
Pool area small with not many sunbeds, cleaned daily but WATCH OUT for broken glass on the walkways as beer glasses are allowed poolside and we saw several smashed in the space of half an hour!
If like us you fancy a fryup at the restuarant - DONT BOTHER if you are starving, you may have a long wait on your hands! The chef is the bartender, cleaner and check-in staff !!! The Irish bar (just up the stairs on the way to the beach - not far) does great food.
The walk to the beach is mega in the lovely hot sun so use the transport provided by the appartments. WATCH OUT - the prices for the hire of beds&brollies down at the beach is incredible - €15 for the day !!!!
Great night life but beware of the cobbles all the way down the 'strip' - very slippy under foot.
All 8 of us enjoyed our time at the Mirachoro - great for the money. Enjoy your stay if you decide to stay here.

and friendly

Travelled with my daughter and 2 nieces as a last minute hol arrived at hotel approx 16.00 first impression of the area very run down but reserved judgement on apartments until we got inside. Have to say the apartments are ok nothing special but large enough a little frayed round the edges but basically clean, only drawback 4 women sharing 1 shower to get ready in the evenings not good! the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor and out into the hallway, we had nothing to mop this up with and had to use towels, when i requested clean towels and explained why was told you had to be there for 4 days before you got clean towels.Cleaners also picked random times to so call clean ie 19.30 in the evenings when we were getting ready to go out. On speaking to some of the local taxi drivers they told us to be real careful at night as the area is notorious for muggings, rapes stabbings etc not from the locals I must add. Pool area is way too small for the amount of apartments so had to use the Park swimming pool 5euros for 2 beds or else the beach which was 7.50euros per bed. However Tanya on reception was lovely. Apartments to sum up ok its just the area, spent every night in the Old Town.

We have just returned from the Mirachoro apartments with two young children. I was abit concerned after reading the reviews, however, to our surprise the apartments were lovely, clean and very spacious everything you need for a family holiday. THe hotel staff were eer so friendly esp tanya, also the free bus service helped with the trips to two different beaches fantastic service !!!!

The apartments are based at the top of the strip out of the way, YOU DO NOT hear noise from father eds bar across the road we were facing the bar and didnt hear any noise late at nite !!!! you do have to walk 5 to 10 mins to the strip through montechoro and YES it is very safe even at 2 in the morning.

I would certainly recommend the apartments to families, we didnt use the pool as preferred the beaches and teh childrens pool isnt a childrens pool, apart from that we had a great time and we have stayed in 5star resorts so yes it is quite basic but great at the same time !!!!
