“Paladim hotel - October 2013”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 October 2013

My wife and I stayed at the Paladim after a recommendation from friends and very glad we did. The one bedroom apartment we booked with a pool view was excellent. It had everything required for a self catering holiday; air conditioning; very good flat screen tv with a range of English speaking channels; very large apartment and balcony. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Try the bar/restaurant very reasonably priced for food and drink. Close to old town and the strip and beside two very good supermarkets. Try the Paladim - you won't be disappointed! Looking forward to returning to this hotel!

Room Tip: I would recommend a pool view apartment - worth it for the view and the sun trap balconies

Recently returned from a very enjoyable three week stay in a one bedroom apartment We found it very good value. All the staff right across the board were extremely helpful.Which is not always the case. The apartment was cleaned to a good standard. The towels were changed every day(they were very soft and fluffy). As someone has stated it was strange to get mismatch doors on cupboards. So what.!The supermarket two minutes away catered for all our needs.Booked again for next year.Hope to get the top floor again.Brill views over pool and sea.Sandra & Alan

Room Tip: Get a high floor over pool area.

Very pleased with what we got for the price, 6 nights for £190. Clean spacious rooms, well serviced with all necessary utensils. Very good bar restaurant area with good prices. Found reception staff very helpful. As mentioned before road noise may be a concern to some, but we had room 111 directly at the front over the restaurant directly below as pictured on the hotel advertising, which must have the potential to be the noisiest in the place and to be honest we had no problems sleeping, but next time would pay a little more for pool view at the rear for a little quieter time and sun on balcony. Also pool very big and clean, no complaints anywhere really. I am giving this review 5 stars not because I rate it a 5 star hotel, but because it delivered what it promised at a very good price.

Room Tip: Ask for pool view.

We stayed in October 2013 in a one bedroom apartment on the ground floor (room 003)
The apartment was spacious and well fitted although strangely some of the cupboard doors were white and some cream.
There was a kettle, large fridge with freezer compartment, hob with 2 rings and a microwave/grill with a full range of pots, pans, cutlery, plates, cups and glasses.
The freezer compartment was good to keep ice creams as you can buy 6 from the supermarket for the price of 1 in a restaurant.
The balcony was huge with sun on it all day.
The only negative was that the bar was directly below and with entertainment until 1am nightly the noise( esp the Karaoke) would disturb those people who find it difficult to sleep. Once the entertainment stopped it was very quiet.
The only other noise problem is experienced in all hotels with marble floors in that high heels and chairs being moved in the flat above make a loud noise esp at night.
Room service was daily- this was either morning about 1030am or afternoon at 4pm. The room service was sweeping floors, changing towels if requested and making the beds.
The pool was very nice although by October it was cool at fine but fine when ou started swimming.
The restaurant in the bar seemed to do virtually no trade although the prices seemed OK.
The bar was used in the daytime by sunbathers and in the later evening. Beer was 2.50 euro a glass which was about 1 euro dearer than the bars outside the hotel.
The location was brilliant with the beach, old town and the strip all about 15 minute walk away.
There were two large supermarkets nearby- one nearly next door and one on the other side of the road. The Contiente next door seemed the best to us.
The staff were all very nice- with the receptionist smiling and speaking as you came into the foyer and providing advice on the hotel and the resort. All spoke good English which was as well as my Portuguese is limited to "Ronaldo"
We had a good time and would happily go back to this hotel although I would prefer a room on a higher floor.

Just returned from a week at the Paladin, pleasantly surprised what good value it proved to be. We found all staff very pleasant and helpful, and the place was very clean and decor in good order. Our towels were changed 5 times & sheets once, the room was serviced every day except day after arrival. Our room 006,was on the ground floor pool side, very spacious with TV (10e deposit) fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle etc. (No hair dryer) and a large balcony. There was a bar area with reasonable prices, it did however lack atmosphere as it tended to be under used. Nightly entertainment was Karaoke and not very popular, so a walk to the old town 15mins or the Strip 20mins was well worth it. Try O'velerio's in the old town if you want a 4 course meal + drinks + coffee for 10.5 excellent. Also try the cafe to the left as you leave the foyer for very reasonable prices.
All in all a great holiday with something for everyone, we would definitely return.

Room Tip: Pool view, one bedroom, high floor if possible.

Just returned from a glorious week at these apartments, our 3rd visit. Everyone, from reception to cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. Apartments cleaned every day. Some updating has been done which was nice and the snacks we had in the bar/restaurant were lovely. Pool area excellent, plenty of room and sunbeds, even though some guests choose to ignore the reserving beds notices. Great location, so handy for everything you could possibly need. Fully intend to return again next year. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Pool view apartments are a bonus.

Just back after 11 night holiday in Albufeira area. (5 nights in Olhos de Agua & 6 nights in Albufeira "Paladim"). 2nd visit here this year, and again very satisfied with accommodation. Biggest plus for me has to be the location of the Paladim. Mid-way between old & new towns, bus stops and taxi rank on your doorstep, large supermarket next door and both McDonalds and K.F.C. across the road. The rooms are clean and spacious, well equipped for self catering, there is a nice covered outside area next to the pool and wi-fi is available in both reception and bar/restaurant areas.(Would be nice if wi-fi was available in the bedrooms). The staff are also quiet friendly and I was surprised to read of negative reports about some of the staff recently, we did not experience anything like that while we were there. The only thing we would like to see changed would be the nightly entertainment, which seemed to be the same karaoke every night. Overall we would recommend this place and will definitely return to the Paladim next year.

Room Tip: Poolside rooms seem to be the more popular choice, as I heard that road facing rooms can become a bi...
