This place is clean & has a great location as well as being cheap, what more can you ask for.
Location, it is literally a few minutes to the old town square as well as a few beaches.
It is surrounded by places to drink, eat & shop.
Hotel - I stayed here for a week on a room only basis but I was suprised to find it had some cups, plates, cutlery, glasses, mini fridge & they provided me with a kettle at no extra cost.
The towels were changed every day as well as the rooms cleaned, now considering I stayed here as a solo traveller & I do not make a lot of mess the cleaning standard was fine for me.
The room had air conditioning & also a tv which had a few news channels, music channels & a few movie channels, again a pleasant suprise.
The room overlooked the old town square, pool & had a sea view, the balcony was very small but you could sit out on it. You would probably have a problem if you were a tall person as not much leg room.
They provide free wifi but you can only pick up the signal in the seating area at the entrance to the hotel which was fine, all the details for connecting to the wifi where in a brochure on the reception near to a table full of leaflets with ideas of trips/days out.
I never went down to the pool area as it only got the sun until around 3pm ish & there was not room to really move the sunbeds around (sun bathing queen) so I used a couple of the hotel's terraces on the 4th & 5th floors. The views from up there were great, plenty of room & sunbeds, I was in heaven as the weather was lovely & they got the sun all day.
The staff on reception were good, they sorted out my kettle for the room, they advised me where the terraces where for sunbathing, they sorted out the rental of the safe in my room which was 30 euro but you get 15 back & they also gave me a wakeup call on the day of my departure.
The cleaners were smiley always said hello & good morning.
It was a mixed bag of people who stayed here, young, old & people from different countries but I never seen or heard of any problems. I felt safe in my room & yes on an evening you can hear the music from the bars in the old town square but I closed over the patio doors & popped the air-con on & I never had an issue sleeping.
To sum this place up it is a little gem, for the price I think you get a lot. It really depends on what sort of holiday you want but I would have no problems staying here again either as a solo traveller or with the girls.
My holiday expectations was a week off work & the gym in order to chill out, sunbathe, eat/drink & meet some nice people & I achieved all of that.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room with a sea view not near the lift & near to the sun terraces

Just got home from this hotel. Well I do think it was good value for money,it's very clean and the housekeeping ladies all so friendly. Rooms small but fine for a few days. Reception staff I thought were very efficient and friendly . Pool cold and tiny but fine for a quick dip. Sun terrace on 4th and 5th floor nice and quite with just a few sun beds. The breakfast was a nice start to the day,not much choice but enough. Shop over the road very nice people,in fact think all Portuguese people we met were very nice, shop has enough things for snacks and drinks to keep you going. If you need a corkscrew ask behind reception to borrow one. Beach long , so clean, men selling drinks , doughnuts ,fresh fruit ,save you moving all day. Location perfect 5 minute walk to beach or town. Now to not so good points , could hear music from the town till very early in the morning, lots of loud groups of people with no respect for others there banging about day + night , not hotel fault though. Town in my opinion was just to English and loud, if you want fish and chips and loud music in every bar trying to out do each other then this is the place, but if you not a night owl then the early evenings with the brilliant entertainers in the square to watch with a meal and a drink before the large groups arrive ,then this is perfect.

Room Tip: We had pool facing room on 4th floor, fantastic view, but could hear music from square till early hou...

For the price this place is excellent don't expect anything and you will be pleasantly surprised. Small rooms with free air con and tv and ok beds.
I would say this place is ideal for a short break of 3-5 nights any more and you may feel a little disheartened.
Grounds are lovely with a nice bar area.
Pool area very small with tiny pool and around 20 sunbeds but there is a roof terrace.
As titled it's cheap and cheerful but if you want something modern and more luxurious don't stay here.
One down side is because it's so cheap there are a lot of groups of youngsters.

You do get what you pay for
Reception staff never smile and rarely speak, they're also happy for drunken guests to come in 2,3 & 4am and walk around shouting and banging doors. Balconies too small for two in fact only room for 1 chair
Rooms very clean and cleaned regularly by pleasant housekeepers, location is good
Would I stay again No, would I recommend No would I visit Portugal again most definitely

LOCATION:
In the heart of old town next the church. 5 minutes walk to the beach and town square. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel there are several English style pub and few restaurants, most popular being Grill Restaurant 52. It serves some excellent sea food. The next door church rings a regular hourly bell chimes, including early hours in the morning. For Saturday evening mass and Sunday morning mass the chimes go for prolong periods and can be pretty loud.

For those day to day basic food and drinks items, there is a supermarket just across the road.

THE HOTEL
Very basic twin bed rooms, TV, bathroom / shower, one wardrobe with safe inside, dresser and tea making kitchen top with a kettle and a fridge beneath. Safe cost €30 per week, with €15 refunded at the end of the stay. Rooms cleaned every other day with supply of fresh towels and toilet papers. Wifi is available only in the yard immediately outside the main door of the hotel. Breakfast bar is also just outside the hotel. Swimming pool is on the small size, however they are plenty of sunbeds and parasols. For more sunbathing the hotel has 2 sun roofs on the 4th & 5th floors

STAFF:
Personally I found receptionists unhelpful & unsmiling. But the chambermaids are wonderful, with always a smiley face and chatty attitude.

Room Tip: Rooms with odds number on floors 4 or 5 give nice view of town and the beach

For the cost its very good, nice and clean with plenty of towel and sheet changes.
Would I go again ? it would be a YES.
As for some of the other comments about noise of other (drunken tourists) when they had booked in 15 people Ill bet that they made enough noise between them.If there is a problem with noise book next time further up the hill by the windmill.
We did not have any noise problem and we were facing the square from the window, all we had to do was close the window and put on the air conditioning.

We had a week's stay here. The keywords are: Small room, being well-cleaned, balcony only for one person at a time. Pool area fine, but swimmers and sunbathers compete with sea gulls who leave their spots. No pool bar - in fact no bar open at all ! There are a lot of bars in the neighborhood though and the noise is to be heard most evenings and nights until around 4 o'clock in the morning. If you love South American flute players, their stuff can be enjoyed most af the daytime from the balcony. Breakfast: Two kinds of buns, toasts, cheese, ham, jam, oranges and a coffee machine that could have been adjusted more properly in my view. Staff seemed quite reserved to me, not many smiles.
