I stayed at Tropical Sol Apartments as part of a group of four 18 year olds. The hotel is located quite close to Faro airport...a 30-40 minute journey in a taxi (some of the taxi drivers drive like maniacs making it a quicker journey!) We travelled to the hotel with a company called Greenbus Transfers which I would 100% recommend - despite a 2 hour delay they were punctual and our driver came to find us rather than us having to search for him! When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by our one bedroom apartment: the room was huge, had two flatscreen TVs and was rather modern compared to many hotels abroad! The first morning we went for breakfast in the bakery round the corner which was AMAZING! The prices were so cheap and the chocolate croissants were so nice - make sure you give it a visit.
The location of the hotel was perfect. The strip was only a 5 minute walk away, however if you wanted a quiet night in then you still could as there was no noise from the strip. It was my first time visiting Albufeira and I loved it! The nightlife was amazing every night without it being scruffy like other resorts such as Magaluf. The Old Town was much more traditional and not too far away, the beaches looked gorgeous but make sure you wear shoes as the shells in the sand are quite sharp! If you are wanting to get a real taste of Portuguese food then I would recommend the Old Town over The Strip (which is catered more to young tourists) and try some of the seafood as it is a Portuguese speciality so is well cooked! There is a reasonably priced restaurant overlooking the beach and sea at the Old Town by the tunnel which does amazing food!
As for what previous reviews have mentioned about the beds, the mattresses aren't too uncomfortable, however the pillows do feel like they have been stuffed with large polystyrene balls - but considering how great the hotel is and the rooms are this is a minor issue. Also air conditioning is free which is great and the cleaning service is good. As for what people said about stag and hen parties, we did not see any on our stay and the couple of early nights we had were quiet and undisturbed. Despite our group going out drinking until late we respected that families stay in the hotel and were quiet when coming back to our room - this seemed to be the case with most (if not all) of the young groups staying at the hotel.
Most of the locals are really friendly and don't hassle you too much...except perhaps around tea time! One place that I would recommend for cocktails is a bar on the strip called Mambos - the cocktails are to die for and the staff are also nice! Matt's Bar was probably my favourite place for nightlife though - a very sociable bar for young people.
If you are debating coming to this hotel then book it - for the price it really is amazing and you will feel safe and really welcome! Also, if you are debating coming to Albufeira then it really is a lovely resort, but if you are with young children then perhaps stick to the Old Town on a night as the strip becomes quite loud after 11pm.

Tropical Sol apartments are very clean and tidy with possibly the most spacious apartment I have ever stopped in. Cleaning is all done to a high standard and the pool bar is not extortionate in price.

Nice to have free air conditioning.

Staff at Tropical Sol were very knowledgeable when asked and were always polite.

As mentioned in previous reviews there is a slight issue regarding sunbeds with towels going on from 3.30am in the morning!!!! We tended to get up about 8 to 8.30am and sunbeds were available up to 9.00am every day so we didn't really have a problem, however there were always a few people without sunbeds, this could easily and quickly be rectified by another 20 or so sunbeds (there is ample space), this MIGHT have the effect of people not wanting to get up at stupid o'clock to reserve what is available all day. Sometimes the easiest solutions are the best.

With regard to Albufeira Tropical Sol was ideally located for us a we enjoyed the walk into the town on an evening before our evening meal and drinks, for those less active taxis are readily available. Would not recommend any of the restaurants in the main square, go a couple of streets back for the best food and drink.

We didn't bother with "the strip" not for 55 year olds, certainly looked "interesting" when we walked down deserted bars at 2.00pm.

All in all a very enjoyable stay at Tropical Sol, you just have to get up slightly early to get a sunbed.

I booked this just 4 weeks before we went and the total price for 3 adults was very reasonable, so I my expectations weren't too high. The accommodation had been recommended by a friend, who has stayed here on several occasions. Honestly I was not disappointed. We arrived at around midday and our room was ready. We were given a one bed apartment on the second floor. The apartment was spacious & clean. It had a balcony which overlooked the pool; a kitchen which had everything we needed; the bathroom was very spacious and had suffcient towels and a really good over the bath shower, it even had a hairdryer - unusual for an apartment. The bedroom had airconditioning and twin beds - my only negative comment would be that the matresses on the beds were.......hard. The lounge area was adequately furnished and there was a flat screen tv with satellite channels if you felt like watching it. The pool area again was well looked after and cared for with sunbeds, umbrellas and a small snack bar. The pool was lovely, with a shallow end and an slope to the deep end. There was a separate childrens pool too. The location of the apartments was quiet, with a small Spar shop and lovely bakery just around the corner. The beach - well you could chose from a few but the Oura beach is probably the closest - a 15 minute walk and the hill down to the beach is epic - short but very steep and be careful as the sea is a bit nippy but worth a dip. We walked to the old town and it took us 25 minutes; we caught a taxi back it took 5 mins and cost 5 euros. The most hilarious thing was the 'sunbed wars'. We like the beach so it didn't really bother us; but at 6 am people were going out and reserving sunbeds and not just one or two but up to 15, so by 8 am there was not a one to be had - well that was the case for the first 5 days of our holiday then as some people went home less were reserved, so more were available. The apartment owners did try to intervene but the situation appeared self perpetuating. There is a bar which is open in the evening and breakfast can be taken in the morning. All the staff we met were extremely friendly and helpful - we all really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to go back here in the future.

We stayed in these apartments from 21/7/14 to 28/7/14 and were really pleased with our accommodation. The apartments are spacious, well furnished and spotless. Reception staff are welcoming and extremely helpful. As people have previously mentioned rooms on the lower floors have their own sun loungers on their balconies and we were quite envious of these.
My only gripe was the selfishness of other people - who went out at the crack of dawn to grab sunbeds - only to leave their towels on them all day - never making an appearance themselves

We visited the Tropical Sol apartments in January and had a lovely peaceful stay due to being out of season.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
The facilities were great and the room always maintained and cleaned except on Sundays.
The pool was a little chilly mainly because it was January!
Close to the beach and main town although not all the bars were open due to being out of season.

Lovely Stay,Great Price!

I here stayed for ten days.
The apartment was a lot bigger than we thought it would be, based on the pictures. The room was very comfortable, clean with a view of the pool from the balcony. We did not find any creepy crawlies in our room.
I shared my room with three other girls and there was plenty of room for all of us.
The restaurant by the pool was very nice and the price was very good, for food and alcohol.
The pool was lovely, a part for children to go in and a deeper part for swimmers. It was not very deep. It was refreshingly cool.
I had never been to Portugal before and I enjoyed my stay very much.
It is a 10 minute walk to the Strip and about 20-30 to the Beach.
The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
There were families and couples and stag do groups in the hotel, very mixed and people from many different countries.
It is the perfect holiday for just relaxing by the pool.
I would stay here again.

I have just returned from a week with the missus in Albufiera.

Pros:

The hotel was very clean, rooms had everything you need. Balcony with a view of the pool was very nice. The pool itself was nice and room around it to relax. Snack bar does nice food and drink. Shops around the corner easily accessible. 5 min walk to main strip. 15 min walk to beach Oura. Cleaners did a good job with beds.

Cons:

Toilet didn't flush so had to go to main toilets instead which was inconvenient and uncomfortable. TV channels were fuzzy. Staff could be a bit more friendlier. People putting towels on sunbeds - you'll need to get up early to claim one...

Overall a good holiday with good hotel but one or two things could improve
