“A wonderful place to stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2013

Just back from a great stay at Vale de Carros with my husband and our 2 children (aged 2 and 4 years). We stayed in a one bedroom apartment, which was great for us. There is a supermarket and many nice restaurants nearby, and the beach is within walking distance. Albufiera is a 15 minute bus/taxi ride away (approx. 12 euros for a taxi) and we arranged trips to Zoomarine and a boat cruise through a local tour operator. The apartments are excellent value for money and ours was spotlessly clean. We had requested a quiet apartment and were further away from reception and the bar area, but there was a second pool just outside our apartment, which was lovely and very quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. We did hire fans, as there is no air-con, and there were also a few mosquitos about, so pack repellent!

Would recommend this to anyone looking for a great value-for-money holiday - I would definitely return!

Room Tip: Our apartment was one of the furthest from reception and the bar area and was very quiet - great for...

This is our
Second visit to Vale de Carros. In 5 years
Not changed still very well run and small friendly Family Run Apartments.
The area is nice safe with good beaches. Beaches are about 20mins walk from Apartments but there is shuttle bus if you need it.
Apartment grounds are kept beautifully and service is very friendly.Lovely restaurants near to Apartments recommend Lacostira lovely food.
2 pools not all that big bit well maintained. Apartments on the small side enough space for 2 people but studios maybe quite tight with 3 in. Also has 1 room apartments. Balconies all pool faceing big balconies sun on all day.
Only negative for me was the extra charge for wifi if you wanted it and also people putting towels on sunbeds in the morning and saving them around the pool and not using them till late morning. It clearly states around the pool not to do this. Also the 2 ring electric stove is not good if you want to do all of cooking and if you want electric kettle you have to hire them.
I would return to Vale de Carros again it is a lovely relaxing area to stay and apartments are good value for money.

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the Vale de Carros apartments . The self catering facilities are very basic, and I would have to disagree with the details on their web page which states "Very spacious and bright with modern furnishings"! We thought the fixtures and fittings were a tad dated, although both of the apartments were clean. We were a family party of 5 and very obligingly we were facilitated with adjacent upper apartments at the lower pool end of the complex, away from the reception and bar area. It was lovely and quiet. Both apartments were a different layout to each other -- one had a much smaller living / cooking area with a good sized bathroom comprising of toilet, bidet, bath and shower, along with decent shelf space for toiletries etc. The other apartment had a decent sized living / cooking area with a small and basic shower room with no shelf space worth talking about. Having reported a faulty electrical socket and two light fittings, they were fixed the next day, however, the light fitting over the sink promptly became defective again and remained so until we checked out. The lighting in both apartments is poor. The apartments are regularly serviced and kept clean, and supplied with clean towels. Bed linen is changed on a weekly basis, and toilet paper is supplied, ( I have been to s/c before where it was necessary to supply your own!!!). Towards the end of the holiday my back was beginning to suffer from the mattress on my bed which may need changing, or may be OK for others, I don't know, but back in my own bed the problem has been resolved!

The whole complex was kept lovely and clean and it was very quiet and peaceful with pleasantly laid out gardens and flowers. The bar area was OK, and the food available was good enough for the money paid, although on one order which included two baked potatoes, both of them were cold, otherwise any other food we got there was quite tasty, with the menu comprised of what you might expect to get in a bar! Sadly we thought the entertainment in the evenings which started at 10pm and was scheduled for two hours was a bit too late for the kids, and consequently we didn't experience it.

The nearby town is quiet with a good range of restaurants, with the usual tourist shops and small bars and goods. There were two good supermarkets, and of the two, we found the smaller one to be more economical and friendly.

Overall an enjoyable stay, however, we did feel that the accommodation was on the basic side and lacking in facilities. We were very fortunate to experience excellent weather, with the temp usually in the mid to high 30s, and once or twice in the lower 40s. There is no air conditioning and the fans which we rented for our stay from reception were totally inadequate. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the provision of a mini bus to go into Albufeira was very economical for our family of five. We have only rated the property with a 3 because of the lack of facilities within the apartments, and probably because of that we would be unlikely to return, although we did have a lovely holiday nonetheless.

Room Tip: Ask for the lower end of the complex, away from the reception/bar area, although in fairness I don...

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the vales de carros apartments . Yes the self catering facilities are very basic as there is no toaster oven etc. but we made do , other families purchased a bbq for around 8 euros from the local supermarket which was a great way to cook a lovely evening meal . Our room was situated by the adult pool , It was lovely and clean and very quiet and peaceful (although We only had 1 change of towels and bedding during our entire stay) The pools and surrounding areas were very well maintained, the pool was spotless always. We spent most of our days by the children's pool which we found a lovely spot to sunbathe and watch the children . There was never many children running around the pool . My children made a few little friends which was perfect it was a lovely play atmosphere the type you loose with big hotels which is over run. Like most places there seems to be a mad rush very early morning for sunbeds and people reserving them but here there was no rush there always seemed to be spare sunbeds till around 9am , which was good. The kids club was superb , 2 hours daily mon-fri , sessions started 10-12am or 2-4pm free , My children loved going and I know other parents were happy as much as me to leave the children play in kids club , The lady was very friendly and approachable and a qualified teacher , which I found rather impressive. Each day my children came out with craft they had completed during the session , which were excellent !! I felt very comfortable leaving them in her care and my children's always loved the sessions. So thank you .
The Bar was ok , The food was typical basic bar meals such as chicken chips, burgers, hot dogs and pizzas. You can also have the meals to take away to eat at your room or by the poolside. I found the meals reasonably priced and at quite a good quantity . The crisps at the bar were quite overpriced though at 1.50 euro per pack !!! And as you can only eat around the poolside with food you purchased there 1.50 per pack seems quite steep.. The bar staff seemed lovely and friendly also , there were always polite and served quickly.
We attended a few nights entertainment such as kids disco, reptile show , parrot show and quiz nights . I found the entertainment start time at 10pm quite late for little children , as the show could go on for a hour or so . The nights my children stayed awake they thoroughly enjoyed all the shows they attended especially the parrot show which is a must see...
The area is lovely and quite away from hustle and bustle of albuferia , we did attend the beach one day to albuferia old town which cost 20 euro return by a taxi . They are plenty of places to eat and shop and also a lovely beach there , we didn't price up the sunbeds or parasols though , other people we met purchased their own parasols as they were quite expensive they said.
Lagosteria is a must go the atmosphere and food was amazing , If you go before 7.30 there is a meal deal of soup , choice between 2 mains coffee and glass of port. There is a little play area for the children which is good , the live music after 8 sets the mood lovely along with the candles . A MUST GO..
also the Italian I would recommend although it can get busy and there is a longer wait the food was gorgeous ..

The only points I would like the apartments to take on board is a children's disco every night before the entertainment starts as 10pm as its to late for some children , and also more facilities for self catering.

Overall a lovely stay at the vales de carros , I would definitely recommend to couples and families who want a chilled and relaxed holiday away from hustle and bustle , families all get to know each other as its a intimiate friendly place . We are looking to book for next year and we look forward to seeing you ..

We returned from this holiday last week, after having a fantastic few days at Vale de Carros. Myself and two other friends only booked the holiday a couple of weeks prior, and we were not dissapointed. We were looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful, in a quiet location and it exceeded our expections. We had a ground floor apartment with a large terrace area, less than a stones throw from the pool. Everywhere was exceptionally clean and well maintained, staff were amazing. We mentioned to the cleaner one morning that the toilet did not appear to be working properly, within an hour a guy was there to fix it. Housekeeping staff were great fun and always cheerful. Restaurant down the road called Lagosteira was excellent, lovely seafood dishes and great hosts. We only stayed for four nights and wish we had spent a whole week here, we will definitely be back!!

I went with a girlfriend to have a relaxing and fun holiday and Vale de Carros was perfect, for lots of reasons, including: really helpful and friendly staff, free shuttle bus to the beach (which was great - you can also walk there in about 20-30 mins if you want), walking distance to some shops/restaurants, a cab ride to the lovely Albufeira old town and Vilamoura port, lots of space in the apartment we had that had two single beds and a separate kitchen area and chairs on a patio (lovely), nice grass area and bar around the pool... Highly recommend.
