The grounds & pool area are large scale & impressive, but that's where the praise must end. The rooms are reasonably well equipped but in need of some refurbishment. Perfect for Hens & Stags but not a family option

You get what you pay for - this cost €130 for 2 of us for a week. We originally had booked a studio but asked to be changed as the beds in the studio were 2 singles in an L shape on concrete slabs. It is located on the strip but as we were in a villa, noise was not a problem. There are lots of restaurants, bars and shops on your doorstep. The resort is located about a 10 min walk to the beach. The beach itself is small - 2 sun loungers and a parasol cost €15 for the day. The road train to the old town is located across the road from the resort and and all day ticket cost €4. There are 4 stops along the route. A taxi to the old town cost around €4.50 - €5. The taxi rank is located just behind the Cafe Del Mar pub across the road.

The resort itself is in need of updating but over all is in good condition - the villa was clean and had the basic requirements. There is a large pool and kiddie pool. There is also a poolside bar serving drinks and snacks until approx 9 pm. The accommodation is set among green areas of grass and trees, shrubs etc. If you have hay fever consider bringing antihistamines with you as this is the first sun holiday which my hay fever flared up. You pay a €100 deposit on arrival which is returnable on check out. The safe deposit boxes are located in a room at reception and cost €25 for the week - €15 deposit returnable when you return the key. There was wifi available at very expensive rate - better to wait and get it in a bar/restaurant.

The villa itself was a decent size and slept 4 people - 2 upstairs in single beds and 2 downstairs on mattresses which were on slabs of concrete. The mattresses are not that comfortable. The upstairs is served by steep narrow stairs next to the fire place. There was also an air conditioning unit upstairs which was not very powerful. There is a vanity area and wardrobe upstairs.

The kitchen has a four ring cooker, oven, fridge, microwave and all the usual cutlery and ware. The is a TV on the wall downstairs with some English speaking channels such as BBC1, Sky news, Viva, BBC News, Euro news etc. The bathroom has a shower located over a bath. The apartment was cleaned and towels changed daily.

The clientele is a mix of people but is mainly made up of groups of people for stag/hen parties, due to this the pool can be very busy at the weekend but quieter during the week.

All in, I would recommend this resort, it is cheap and cheerful and serves its purpose in a convenient location. If you are looking for 4* luxury this is not the place for you.

Room Tip: Ask to be located in Block 1 or at a villa in the back if you prefer quietness.

Just returned from a 7 night stay at villanoca and have to say i was pleasantly surprised on how good it was. Rooms were clean and comfy, grounds were well kept and the location was perfect for our stay. Loved the lively atmosphere aswell as chilling by the pool. Definetly returning this year. Julie evans

My sister and I have just returned from a 7 day break at this resort. We stayed in a studio apartment which was basic but very spacious.
After reading about the beds in these apartments we were a little concerned, they are basically a mattress on a concrete plinth. We had no trouble sleeping on them which was our main concern.
Only had a couple of little niggles there was no kettle in our apartment when we arrived and it took nearly 2 days for them to get one for us. Also you could not use the cooker in our apartment if you wanted to because you couldn't read the numbers on the dials on the front they had worn off.
We were in block 2 which we felt was quite a good block to be in and central to the strip where all the bars were. After the stags had gone home we had a very peaceful holiday.
We used the little land train quite a lot to get round and about. At 4 euros each for an all day ticket we thought this was good value.
The pool looked lovely but we never used it as there was some rowdy male parties who were jumping in quite a bit and neither of us are strong swimmers. The kiddies pool was been refurbished when we were there the first week in May.
Word of warning if you are a stag or hen party they do take 100 euros per apartment as deposit against breakages considering someone threw a cup out of the apartment above us one night you don't blame them.
We also used the safety deposit boxes which were 25 euro but you got 15 back when you returned the key..
We had a few trips out with Paradise tours which we booked through the hotel
All in all good location, basic but clean and good value for money.

Room Tip: Block 2 good black to get.

Just got back from a 4 night break to the Vilanova, which is a great place to stay for groups travelling together. There are lots of hen and stag parties that stay in this hotel and thetas whats great about it.

Its location which is right on the strip is ideal. Lots of bars and restaurants and there is a kebab shop right next to the entrance to the resort which is perfect after a good night out. The apartment we stayed in slept 6 people but there are also villas that sleep up to 8. The pool is great and so is the poolside bar which sells bar snacks etc.

Its a little dated but you get what you pay for and the rooms and the hotel grounds are clean and tidy. Not sure if id stay there with my wife and kids but it was great for 15 blokes on a weekend trip.

Stayed here 2 years ago and decided it was the perfect place to stay again for the trip we had in mind.

Room Tip: The Villas poolside are the best rooms in my opinion.

Well what can I say about Albufeira strip! its loud, very loud and full of stag and hen parties. When we arrived late Saturday night, we counted 26 stag/hen parties in less than 2 hours pass by!!! It is a fun resort not really somewhere to take your kids or granny in my opinion

To be honest I felt a lot of the people on the strip were chavvy, loud people you expect to find in a dingy Wetherspoons. I just felt uncomfortable a lot, with stag parties at ten am shouting, puking etc while wearing fancy costumes, generally people you don't want to be near!!!

My advice is the old town is way nicer, go there !!! get the little yellow/blue train to the old town, or even better- stay there !!
The Vilanova itself is perfectly fine, we had a 1 bed villa which was spacious and private and well laid out, we saw the studios and the villas are WAY nicer . Air conditioning is crap, the decor is very old but hey its cheap!
The pool is a good size with a pool bar, but there will be stags/hens getting drunk and throwing each other in the pool!
So without trying to sound like a snob, the strip - I would not go to again as some of the people are simply idiots, the old town is far nicer, the Vilanova is perfectly fine for a cheap drunken holiday away :)

Just returned from my Hen do here. We were lucky and got placed in a brilliant apartment (block 4) which was at the entrance of the hotel, over looking the pool.

Hotel was clean and apartment was spacious, room for 5 comfortably.

Main reason we chose this hotel was for its location, directly behind the strip it's ideal for those on stag or hen do's or a short break with friends. During the day the street is quiet with plenty of places to eat and a 15 minute stroll brings you to a beautiful beach with restaurants on the front (there is however a big hill to contend). At night the strip gets busy around 10pm as everywhere is open until 4am. You cannot hear this from the hotel though which is a bonus.

Overall the hotel was cheap and cheerful but a lot better than expected and would return for a short break with the girls. We went Monday to Friday and the place started fill up Thursday afternoon for the weekend (about 200 men!) so if you prefer it quiet I would recommend avoiding weekends.

I personally wouldn't recommend this hotel for a family unless you don't mind the possibility of it being a bit rowdy.
