Pretty much have the same pro views as most of the previous comments. Only downside is you're a €12 to €15 cab from civilisation, and that can mount up over the course of a week between just the 2 of you. Wouldn't go back there on the basis that it's too far from town, that's all.

My only complaint would be that on our last day we had very heavy rain, so we called reception to see if they would pull the pool cover across as we was getting cabin fever. They said that the cover doesn't get used for another 2 weeks! I went down and looked at it and it's literally something you just pull across, but didn't want to do it myself in case they kicked off. Annoyed me. There was no reason not to pull it across for us so that people could use the pool just for that rainy day

I stayed at the Bayside for a week in mid September and had a really nice relaxing time. All the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and spoke English better than me. My room was up to date, squeaky clean and comfy with a/c which only needed to be run for ten minutes to cool everything down. Towels were changed every few days but sheets only after the seventh night. I had a small balcony too (ground floor) and it was so peaceful to sit and read with a cool drink out there. That was until a group of selfish muppets arrived at the pool 30 yards away and had to play their skip rescue cd player full blast with hits of the eighties. They had come to the wrong place as this is a quiet hotel, ideal for families and couples. There is some entertainment there too every few nights.
I would definitely go back to the Bayside and its tranquillity.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor are cooler.

Bayside is situated beside a massive golf resort. It's about 15e in a taxi from the main strip but closer to the old town. However there is a massive beach about 10 minute walk away which has a supermarket on the way. The beach has a cafe & restaurant. The restaurant looks impressive but we felt was disappointing compared to other meals we had. Food at Bayside is great and the small restaurant beside it even better. There are two local restaurant a short walk from the top of the resort - Prima Pasta & Museu dos Salgados. Can't recommend Prima Pasta enough!! Beautiful little Italian! Museu is right beside it and was nice. There are another more basic restaurants on the walk there which we didn't get time to try. Bayside is clean and modern. Staff are helpful. There's a 2.50e charge for wifi per day. The bus runs twice daily at 1.75e. If your a cat lover there's lots of cats!! This resort is more ideal for couples or friends looking a quiet relaxing holiday as there is no baby pool which was disappointing for us and the play park wasn't great. I wouldn't stay here in peak season as I don't think there would be enough room round the pool. Staff were helpful to arrange trip to Zoo Marine which is definitely worth a visit if you have children!

Great atmosphere, food and prices. Staff are amazing. So helpful and friendly. Had a fab holiday here. Will defo be back. Only downfall is the location. Its 10 euro for a taxi into the old town. A bus runs twice a day into town and is very cheap. Fabulous Beach is 10 min walk away and supermarket only 5 mins away

This was an instantly forgettable place to stay. No redeeming features. Staff didn't interact much at all. We got there at 2pm and had to wait until 3pm to get into our room. Had to get up twice in the night to ask a group if young girls staying for the weekend to keep the noise down, which to be fair they did but management the next day just shrugged and said they were leaving that day.
We went 11/9 - 18/9 and I was As if the staff had a bit of burnout from the summer visitors.
Not much in the surrounding area and taxis to/from albufeira expensive at €12-14 a time.
Beach was beautiful but sunbeds on the beach cost €15 per day for 2. I know it was inexpensive but civility doesn't cost much.

After reading the reviews we were a bit concerned with what we would find at Bayside. However, we have just come back after two weeks (6th to 20th Sep) half board and can honestly say that we were very pleased with the accomodation and services that we received. Yes, the studio appartment was a bit dated and the beds were typical holiday beds (a few aches in the mornings), and there was a very little bit of rust on the outside of the fridge, the spiral stairs to the appartment were awkward when getting luggage up and down. So, the poitives. Dated but well cleaned and maintained, the beds were adequate, the inside of the fridge was spotless and efficient, the stairs were a bit novel during the stay. And, there's more! All of the staff were extemely friendly and helpful. The restaurant manager was fantastic and the meals were great - off the menu a couple of evenings and by discussion with the manager on all other evenings, really excellent for the price we paid and excellent quality. The bar was tended by a super efficient, friendly chap who couldn't have done more for us. The young girl who tended to breakfast was probably the hardest working holiday staff that I have seen, super friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was buffet style, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon (the best we have had on european holidays) and beans. Further, there were the continental cheese, ham, sausage, various breads, fresh fruit yoghurt and cereals.

The pool was never crowded and spotlessly maintained with more than enough loungers for anybody that wants them.

So no, don't believe all the negative press, Bayside is great value for money.

Praia dos Salgados!!! Not my cup of tea. If you want a beach holiday you will not find a better beach. Gets very crowded at the nearest end but, walk a bit and the bodies thin out and give plenty of space. The walk to the closest part of the beach took about 15 - 20 minutes, bear in mind that the first obstacle was "heart attack hill" - quite draining for me with health issues and the heat but still managed it nearly every day. Other than a supermarket and small shop, nothing else available. Transport in and out of the resort was by mini bus from Bayside to Albufiera at 10:00 returning at 15:00 or taxi at 7 to 8€.

General comment on the resort is that it is not that well maintained. We saw a lot of broken glass on the side of the roads and footpaths with dogs mess much in evidence with some even on the beach and litter almost everywhere.

Lastly, if you do go to Bayside, do take a look at the nature reserve half way along the beach where you will find numerous birds including, flamingos (greatest number that I have seen in the wild), herons, storks and ducks.

Would we go back...no but, only because it was not our sort of holiday. If you want to go to a fantastic beach with a great value hotel Bayside could well be for you.

Hope this review helps.

I've just got back from 8 nights at Bayside. I read the reviews in advance and had low expectations which were very pleasantly smashed when we arrived. Our apartment for 3 had plenty room, the bathroom was small but you don't spend much time in there do you. It was clean, our little kitchen area had a twin hot plate, kettle and microwave and we hired a toaster for a few days. We were on the ground floor so our little patio looked out onto a well kept garden.

The overall look of the resort was very well thought out, I loved the colour scheme of pink and turquoise on the balconies and the flamingo wallpaper in the restaurant is fantastic! There are some really nice touches like a couple of swings and some hammocks to sit in outside, a caddilac sofa and a hanging egg chair inside. You can play pool, or table tennis for a small fee and there's wifi available for a small charge.

The pool and jacuzzi pool were clean, there were plenty loungers for Everyone, bear in mind we missed high season. There is usually a pool bar available but it was closed for the length of our stay as we were out of season, which didnt matter to us. The beautiful beaches are very close, a fifteen minute stroll away, you can hire a lounger there for 5euros for half a day. We even saw some flamingos on our walk there.

We had our room cleaned every other day and towels replaced. Which was perfect, we didnt spend much time in our apartment as the weather was so glorious.

The hotel offer a daily bus service into the old town for 1.75 each way. It is worth going on this to see the beautiful old town and the beach.

Bayside is not in the heart of a throbbing nightlife so if you are looking for party central this is probably not for you. It costs 10/12 euros to get into Albufeira in a taxi which will mount up if you want to go out every night. There are some nice restaurants a short walk from the hotel or if you have hired a car there are plenty to choose from a short drive away.

Getting to bayside from Faro, book an airport transfer through bayside as they get good deals. We made the mistake of getting a taxi on the advice of our travel agent thinking it would cost around 30 euros... 75euros later we were a bit shocked!

We found the resort to be lovely and quiet during the day and the evening entertainment provided was fun. Its a good way to meet your holiday neighbours too. I highly recommend the sing a long bingo for a laugh!

We were 3 30ish girls who wanted a quiet holiday, sunshine, relaxation, beach times and book reading. We did not want to be hustled by people outside restaurants or to go out and get pissed every night. Bayside was perfect for us, it's by no means 5 star but it is quirky, friendly and peaceful and for that I would highly recommend.

Many thanks to all the team for making our stay so enjoyable.
