Me and my family stayed here in october 2013, when we arrived the hotel looked nothing like what it does in the pictures. When we entered the apartment it was very dated - shabby sofa beds, 14 year old tv, cracked cupboards in the kitchen, lamps that didnt work - the list can continue! we went to the bedroom and there was 2 single beds pushed together to make a double- no quilt just a tatty blanket and 2 flimsy pillows. The bed was so hard I may as well slept on the floor! because of this I ended up with severe back pain and cramps in my neck. The cot was filthy and also broken had to ask for replacement which never got done the balacony is unsafe which we were told by the staff not to lean on as there have been incidents of them collapsing also not child safe as no more then 3ft high and no railing on top.
The Indoor pool is a joke you have to wear a swimming cap for hygiene reasons, apparently! Never heard or seen this anywhere else. There were cracked tiles around the pool aswell as inside the pool. This is more of a health and safety matter rather than Hygiene! The outdoor pool bar was out of use, snack bar a rip off, food was awful, there is no food court just 2 restaurants! The list could go on and on! This hotel is more like 2 star, it is a shambles and misleads its customer just to fill rooms. False advertising.

The maids were good, clean towels daily, empty bins and bed made.
The reception staff were miserable, rude and no help whatsoever!
The noise from the corridors of an evening to early hours was unbelievable. Not once did we see a security guard.
The shop on site is handy and the ladies that work there were pleasant.

The location isnt excellent but the distance to New & Old Town is walkable within 10-15 minutes or a €4 cab ride.

I will say that this is the only holiday that we have been on that has MADE us leave earlier than we were expected too. We caught an early flight home. For us, we will never return to Portugal again let alone Paraiso Albufeira!

my husband and myself have just spent a week at this hotel. first off i must say the staff were very friendly and helpful.we were given a room on the 8th floor which looked out on to the main road. the room was quite big but very dated, and we had two single beds one of which my husband had to repair. the room never got any sunlight at any time of the day. we found the hotel was not very disabled friendly, both my husband and myself have mobility problems and found we had to climb into a bath to get a shower, which was in need of renewal and the hotel lifts were quite small for wheelchairs. the hotel is fine for a short-break, but is short of luxury.

Room Tip: try to get a poolside room if possible for the sun.

Have just returned from a fabulous week at the Paraiso. The whole experience from arriving at the hotel until we left was excellent. We were staying all inclusive and found the food, drinks and snacks to be very good. In fact we never had a bad meal during the whole stay. There was plenty of choice available at each meal time and it was up to you to pick what you liked. The entertainment team was great and we all enjoyed taking part in the various activities that they had organised throughout the day (two adults, 16 yr old and 12 yr old). There was something to appeal to every level of fitness/ability. The rooms were cleaned every day and were always spotless. We had opted for a two bedroom apartment and it was huge. Two large bedrooms, two bathrooms and open plan living/kitchen/dining area. The staff were also very friendly and polite.
WE enjoyed it so much that we are already planning a return visit.

Hotel is well located between old town and the strip. Really geared for all inclusive famiky deals but the price was right for just renting a single room. Best to go either old town or the strip for meals and drinks. Hotel has good outdoor pool, two indoor pools plus a good sized bar with liv entertainment every night. Be warned entertainment is geared to kids and later the mature crowd. Also hotel has full gym on premises for a small daily fee. Wifi is only in lobby and it is also extra. Beds are pretty basic but rooms are big and have kitchen.

Room Tip: Hotel is not on the beach but able to walk to it in 20 minutes. Rooms are all self catering.

We spent a week from 05/10/13 all inclusive (AI) at the hotel. We booked an apartment for 2 requesting a pool view and were delighted to find ourselves in a pool facing suite on the 6th floor. Had we been self catering the kitchen facilities were more than adequate. 4 ring cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle. Plenty crockery, cutlery and glasses and dining table and chairs in the lounge. Maid service kept suite clean, regularly changed towels and bed linen got changed too.
Hotel had a fitness centre, indoor pool and jacuzzi, hairdresser, booze shop and a tourist shop. We purchased alcohol and some little gifts to take home at the hotel as they were same price or cheaper than the old town.
The weather was great, hotter than we expected 25 to 30, apart from the last day. We were amused to find that a couple of dozen towels were put round the pool around each morning way before it opened at 9 as there was really no need. We never found a shortage of beds and anyway preferred to be on one of the grassy areas back from the pool edge which was more private. Towel service and pads for the sunbeds was AI for us but some had to pay.
We used the hotel courtesy bus into the old town a couple of times and back form town once. We also used a couple of taxis only 4 euros when returning later at night. You could walk but it but it's all uphill back.
The AI was food, adequate, the restaurant was too British for our taste and rather repetitive but always fresh and plenty available. The snack bar had chips, onion rings, salad, pizza, burgers, sandwiches and ice cream. The fries and onion rings were fine and the ice cream was fab and came in plenty of flavours. We had to go into the old town to eat Portuguese and went twice for the change of scene. There are fast food places just along the road. A great shopping mall and a bakers (Riviera Patisserie) to die for, under or part of Hotel Brisa Sol. Much frequented by the locals for coffee and cake to sit in/out or takeaway. We just enjoyed sitting with a large jug of sangria but some of the cakes were a vision and a half to behold! There's a shopping mall with a big supermarket and great sports shop. We both made purchases, good range and prices so much cheaper than at home.
From the Tuesday the Thomas Cook reps took over the bar area from 8-9 for their kiddies entertainment and then to put on their own entertainment. Beforehand they had been on the lower ground floor. The reps had the kids all scream together and then one by one shout with the mic as loud as they could for as long as they could. Well used to the kiddies hour usually singing and dancing not making them scream their heads off or congo ing them all the tables. Which also prompted the bar staff to change to plastic glasses. Sincerely hope Thomas Cook re-think THEIR actions. As this was the only bar open for AI we were not amused and took advantage of the booze shop prices, the fridge and glasses to sit on the balcony away from the cacophony of noise and it was a good excuse to visit the patisserie.
The hotel put on entertainment Fri to Sunday so at least you're spared the reps attempts to entertain or a karaoke that no one but them was interested in.
We've been to the Algarve a few times before and just went to chillax. However, there are loads of trips to go on and the hop on hop off bus tour stops just outside the hotel if you're not familiar with the area.
We will definitely be going back but not until after a fortnight in Rhodes next year.

Room Tip: Ask for pool facing as the balconies/patios get the sun and the view is more scenic.

The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to both the old and new towns (however we did tend to get taxis due to laziness and their cheap price). I would recommend the old town for eating out; there are some lovely restaurants by the sea serving great food. The new town is where the strip is - fine for drinks/night out but not exactly classy.

Hotel is kept clean and rooms are spacious with all the facilities and equipment required for cooking if you would want to as well as free air-con. There is also a large supermarket about 2 minutes walk away on the same side of the road. Cleaners came daily to change towels and make the beds and we found the reception staff to be very helpful, calling taxis and recommending a restaurant when asked.

We were self catered and so did not sample the food at the hotel. There is a bar by the pool at which to buy drinks and snacks during the day. We did go in the hotel bar for a drink one night and found it to be really expensive comparatively, and the evening entertainment was really quite poor - two singers doing cheesy cover songs.

The pool is nice enough, though quite small considering the size of the hotel. We went in October and so didn't struggle for sunbeds, though you would in the height of season. One thing we did really struggle with was a lack of sun parasols - I counted 15 round the pool despite the fact they needed triple this amount. Ended up sat under a tree quite far from the pool just for a bit of shade.

There are beaches in both the old and new towns so both walkable - went to Fisherman's beach in the old town and paid 15 euros for the use of sunbeds/sun umbrella, rip off but there you go!!

Overall we had a great time!

Room Tip: Ground floor pool side have direct access to pool
