“Lovely clean appartment. Close to meneties but very quiet at this time of year”
Reviewed 17 December 2010

Stayed for 1 week from 5th Dec 2010. Booked a 1 bed apartment as we were informed the studios were "small". Delighted with our apartment (it was in K block) at the back of the complex, furthest from the beach, but this was fine as it was closer to the restaurants, bars, supermarkets etc. The weather was OK, (what do you expect in December). Apartment was cleaned every other day. We had a huge balcony which we managed to use 3 times, taking advantage of some winter sun. Very quiet resort, we did wonder how much busier it would be in the summer. We enjoyed the tranquility!
Not all the bars and restaurants were open, but there was still plenty of choice. The old town is worth visit and is within walking distance but suggest the bus. We found the best value supermarket was the "Mercado" but this was a reasonable walk and there were some closer but more expensive. As with most things it pays to shop around. Some restaurants were reasonably priced. One main thing to be aware of is when you are coming home, try to eat before you get to Faro airport as the food is extremely expensive - we got stung for 21 euros for 2 burgers with fries and 1 drink.
Overall I would ignore any negative comments about the Clube Praia da Oura. We had a lovely time, the staff were happy to see you nd extremely helpful. The trnsfers were well organised and the room and facilities were of a high standard. We would happily go back!

A friend and I stayed at Clube Praia Da Oura. The place was fantastic. Right on the beach. Supermarket nearby. Rooms were nicely furnished and very clean. Staff were exceptionally friendly. After reading the reviews I was scared, but I got an amazing studio with ocean view, and not to mention, that on the Algarve you can have breakfast in bikini suntanning on your terrance in november! We used Nelson [url]http://www.yorfaroairporttransfers.com) for our transfer and I can highly recommend him. The guy was waiting at the airport for us and the transfer only took about 30 minutes. He gave us good tips for restaurants, bars & discos…
Eager to return!

The resort has a good location at sea. There is a lot of services in the area and the plenty of room for own activities as well. Each of the apartments has its own terrace as well, but some of those offer only a limited possibility to sun bath. The reception is capable to communicate in English and it is frendly too.

At least in late autumn there are a lot of British people that is a plus or minus depending how you respect a very British program and food offering (which are of course targeted to the main client groups). In the area there is a good and reasonably priced food store as well.

The resort offer a wide variety of tours to Algarve sights and markets and to Lisbon too. (we didn't use).

The biggest minus is that the signing (or guiding) system in the area is inadequete - so at the beginning you need to have some exercise to find the correct apartments or other places. The apartments are a little bit old too, but still in good shape.

In the lobby there is a free internet.

Just returned from our 2 weeks vacation in club CPO. We are so disappointed as we were allocated an appartment on the side of the main road totally away from the main complex with dog kennels to the rear. The dogs barked constantly. We requested a change immediately but were told there was no other choice as we had a special package and this block was not as high a standard as the main block.
Finally we got an appartment on the ground floor which was cold and damp and never had sunshine.
There was no follow up on our complaint and we found reception staff to be curt with any general queries we had. Rose

We stayed here at the beginning of November on the Avanti free week. Flew with Easyjet which was fine. Transfers with Algarve365 who were very good. Check in was straightforward, we got 70euro credit to spend on food and drink as had paid a £50 booking fee. The porter took our cases to our apartment. The apartment itself was nice and much more spacious than we expected, it wasn't one of the refurbished ones but still had everything we needed. We had a really big balcony overlooking the pool with a partial sea view. We spent a lot of time on the balcony as it got lots of sun and felt warmer than by the pool, we ate on there during the day, we did ask for more sunloungers but didn't get any although the complex didn't seem to be full. Weather- we had two rainy days, the rest of the week was warm and sunny during the day but much colder at night. The pool looked very nice but was freezing! There were outdoor jaccuzis and a sauna though which were lovely. You can also use the facilities at the Oura Praia and the Beach Club but you have to pay to use the indoor pool. The evening entertainment was ok- the usual karaoke, tribute nights, parrot show, belly dancing etc. The bar did get very full in the evenings but there was also the quieter piano bar and the cafe bar at Oura Praia which has live music some nights, there are plenty of other bars within walking distance too. They do a lot of theme nights such as Latin/Portugese, BBQ, steak nights, but they get booked up very quickly, we wanted to go to the steak night but it was fully booked. There are activities during the day such as archery and aqua aerobics, there is also a kids club, we didn't use any of these though. The staff were generally friendly and helpful, the only problem we had was that we had ordered a food pack but didn't get it, this was sorted out after we told reception but we had to forward them a copy of the email as they had no record of it (internet 1euro for 12 min or they have wifi). The apartment was cleaned every other day, the whole compex appeared very clean and the gardens well kept. Its in a really nice position right on the beach which is beautiful and only a few minutes walk from shops bars and restaurants including the strip. The complex and the area around it seemed very quiet while we were there, I'm sure it would be different in the summer season though. We went to the old town a couple of times which is definitely worth a visit, so is the marina. We ate in Jacs twice, its not cheap but very good food and excellent service. Other places we would reccomend are O Veleiro in the old town- excellent value and really nice piri piri chicken, also Ze Do Peixe Assado- fish restaurant just round the corner from the apartments, past Oura Praia hotel. We didn't do any trips with reception as there is a shop by the Oura Praia supermarket which was cheaper, we went to the gypsy market and Vilamoura with them. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and would consider going back.

The apartments are somewhat dated and are in need of a refurb. We had a two bedroom apartment on the 8th floor. The bathrooms were in need of a good clean and makeover. Our biggest problem were the beds - I didn't sleep properly the whole week after getting bitten with bed bugs the first couple of nights. My 2 and a half year old daughter also got bitten in her cot! We reported a couple of issues during our stay to reception such as cracked toilet seats (on arrival!) and a plug stuck in the kitchen sink - both of these were ignored.

The resort around the hotel is grim. There are two 'strips' - appropriately named given that they have numerous sex shops and strip bars - not the sort of thing you expect to see in a family resort. Overall we were disappointed with the accommodation and resort. Have no idea how others rate this so highly.

Returned for a week to celebrate my 40th Wedding Anniversity. Knew we would have a great time and I was not wrong. We stayed in a large appartment overlooking the pool close to the timeshare appartment that we own. Reception must have noted that when we booked. We just chilled out, relaxed and had some great food in the warm sunshine. Thanks again to Neto restaurant where we spent a lot of time; and even celebrated the Feast of Mustogav (I think thats how you spell it). This goes back in foklore and the locals have bonfires and roast chestnuts. We just had the roast chestnuts with Alber.
This is a fantastic resort, has everything you could want for a self-catering (or not so self-catering) holiday. On the beach, and close to he strip, Delightful maids friendly gardners; even the local parrot made us feel welcome.
Going back in next year again. Been going for the past 10 years at least once a year, so that says it all.
