I stayed there for one night. These are my facts.

POSITIVE:
* fast check in process
* staff speaks English and is very helpful
* big room with balcony

NEGATIVE:
* no elevator
* WIFI signal is very weak
* hall way is extremely dark, you cant see anything before your eyes adapt to darkness
* quite a walk to the old town

Great location around 15 minutes walk from the old town and closer to the strip.

The hotel looks excellent from the outside and in reception and the first impressions were very good. Check in was smooth and the room was ready early.

Then you go upstairs and the strange vibe of this place starts. There are no proper lights or windows in the hall way. It is extremely dark as you go up the stairs ( no lift) with just a lamp on the floor for light.

The room itself was extremely small, the twin room was two beds pushed together. They have gone for an ultra modern look but the furnishings are just extremely cheap so it just looks tacky. The bed was uncomfortable too and on none of the nights did we get a good nights sleep.

We didn't eat breakfast here and there appeared to be no other food on offer. They advertise a bar here, but the only seating that wasn't laid out for breakfast were a couple of tables in reception. At no point did we see anybody drinking or socialising in the hotel and the receptionist actually doubles up as the barman.

The swimming pool area was well presented and clean, however it is very small and there is very little privacy from the road side (you can just see straight in as you walk past). On the plus side the pool was scarcely used even in the height of summer so getting a sun lounger wasn't a problem.

The hotel has numerous strange rules, such as charging a Euro to ring a taxi and the very annoying policy of having one key per room and that key needing to be left at reception when you leave the hotel. Very annoying when the receptionist (who is also the barman, pool cleaner, parking attendant) isn't at the reception to take the key or retrieve it. Completely pointless inconvenience.

The other thing to watch out for here is that the doors don't lock when you close them. You actually have to use the key to lock it behind you. We didn't realise this and anybody could have just walked in.

All in all we found it to be a very strange place lacking in atmosphere. The rooms are tacky and the place just feels a bit amateurish.

A cheeky tip for you - any store card/debit card etc works in the key card slot for the power. So even when you're not in the room and you've handed your key in, you can still have the aircon on to come back to. Which was nice when it was mid 30's outside and the aircon took an age to get going.

We have just returned from a five night stay at KR Hotels - Albufeira Lounge (July 2013).

The staff are exceptional. Friendly, polite and courteous. They are obviously proud of their hotel and made us feel very welcome. They couldn't do enough to make sure our stay special.

We had a most enjoyable time, the hotel was extremely clean, tidy, quiet and relaxing. Our room (208) was very comfortable, we didn't have any issues regarding the comfort and sleep quality of the bed. Bathroom was amazing, very modern. Powerful shower (no bath), towels changed regularly or when requested. Hairdryers provided by hotel if required during stay. Room serviced every day. Only had breakfast two mornings, only continental provided but that suited us fine, lovely fresh products, endless coffee, tea, juice.

Stayed at the pool most days, lovely and quiet, people very respectful as it seemed mainly couples staying, although there were children staying the whole ambiance was relaxing. Pool Area again was extremely clean with changing and toilet facilities provided in adjacent building.

5 Minute walk to "The Strip" and the train to the Old Town leaves the roundabout beside hotel every 10 - 15 minutes.

We will definitely return.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 208 on second floor, balcony at back of Hotel, sun from about 5 pm. Quiet road at...

This is a clean modern hotel. Staff are very polite. The rooms are basic but very stylish. Had a lovely balcony with a pool view. Didn't actually go in the pool as we went to a few different beaches. The continental breakfasts were nice. Not massive variety but the food that was there was nice. There was usually 2 cereals, 1 choice of fruit, yoghurt, breads, juices and tea and coffee. Overall a lovely stay here and would recommend.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights in April 2013. The only complaint was the lack of an elevator. That said, the staff were beyond friendly and I felt like part of the family by the time we left. The room was clean and modern, albeit small. Our balcony provided a bit of a view of the water and the bathroom had better water pressure than any shower I've seen in Europe! The breakfast was included and was as good or better than most continental breakfasts. The location is great, just a short walk to the strip, the beach, or to shopping. Also on a bus route so you can venture a bit further if you like. We didn't use the pool due to our proximity to the ocean, but it looked clean and well maintained. Many restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance, but there is also a bar/lounge in the lobby with exceptional prices. Being the low season, there was not much for noise, but I suspect that rooms on the back would be quieter during the summer when Albufeira is a lot busier. Again, can not say enough good things about the staff. They made the visit wonderful and are the single biggest reason I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front, while having a view, also look out onto the street, which can get quite busy wit...

If you are going to bring big or heavy bags, be prepared to haul them up the stairs. The rooms are sparse but adequate and the bathroom was very clean and modern. Good shower. Location is ok and parking is easy and right out front. Our room had a balcony which was appreciated and pleasant. The nearby restaurant that was recommended by the management, the Three Palms, was truly outstanding and highly recommended. A fair ways to the beach but we weren't there for that so not an issue for us.

We stayed here in November so it was very quiet in the area and not many people in the hotel. saying that the staff were helpful when needed and the hotel was immaculate. Pool area was nice but we did not use it due to being out and about.

The location of the hotel is excellent - you can walk to the strip and beach and also get down to the town area in the opposite direction so right in the middle of everything. it's on a road but a quiet road so it wasn't too bad at night.

We chose to stay in the bungalow which was a stand alone room with a beautiful bathroom and fab shower. It had its own entrance also which was a nice touch and a little seating area outside. As it was off peak this was very reasonable.

There were two negatives:

The Internet was terrible and considering this is a small hotel that's a bit of a pain, it couldnt be that hard to get right. We were also the only ones using it I guess so it should have been efficient.

The bed was probably the worst bed me and my boyfriend hav ever slept in. Ever. We were in agony after a couple of days. I hate when people complain about small things that shouldn't be mentioned but I have never had trouble sleeping anywhere! So I was shocked when we both agreed on this. It's a shame as its a great hotel with a nice modern decor but I would strongly recommend they sort the beds out.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the bungalow
