“Fabulous hotel, fantastic location”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

We stayed in one of the apartments directly opposite the hotel for a few days in May 2014 (For my Birthday) They were absolutely huge, with everything you could ever need. I didn't feel like I was on holiday, it was like moving into a new fully furnished house! The bathroom was roomy and clean and had a hairdryer which was great, the kitchen was amazing. Fully equipped with full-size fridge freezer, oven, toaster, kettle, coffee machine even a washing machine! along with all kitchen/cooking utensils inc cutlery/crockery etc etc.
Fantastic location right between the beach and the main strip. The strip was just a few mins walk away, perfect for strolling home in the evening after an overindulgent meal. Unfortunately, we didn't go to the beach as the few days we were there it rained so we either stayed in just happy of the break away from home or headed out on a coach trip (We went to Lisbon - fantastic day trip!)
Everyone in the hotel reception was friendly and helpful, and the facilities in there were amazing too. When mentioning to anyone where we were staying, the locals all seemed very impressed! Would go there again in a heartbeat and just hope for some sun next time! Could not fault anything!

We booked the hotel expecting to get in the actual hotel as it looked lovely and we have stayed in the area before, bit when we booked we got an email saying from an agency ( albufeira rentals) stating that we have booked with them ( news to us). The email contained a very long list of rules what not to do etc. Then we got a other email saying it had been cancelled because they couldn't take the deposit ( their fault not ours). Anyway, that got sorted.
When we got there we went to reception to be told to wait outside, which we did and met by someone after having to call them from our mobile, she took us to a room right around the back basically on a building site! I was nervous at this point. Went in and it was clean enough with cooker etc but they asked for €200 deposit, which we never had as we had a prepaid card with all our money on. Eventually they agreed to waive that.
The fridge broke and leaked all over the kitchen floor and we had to use our towel to mop it up as there wasn't a mop.
We asked for a double bed, we had two singles, we called about this and they said, we dont have doubles!
The beds - oh my goodness!! They were unbelievably uncomfortable! The mattress was on a piece of snapped mdf!!
The worst bit though was the view, we wanted a sea view, we could probably see about an inch of the sea! And the builder which were literally opposite my window started work at 730am til about 7pm! No lie in for us!
The pool was nice but we went to reception to be treated like crap because we were 'private' rented!
Never again.
If you're going here make sure it's the actual hotel or you will be very disappointed!

Dear jessevans1987
Quinta Pedra dos Bicos Tourist Apartments, is a wonderful four star accommodation specifically designed to provide guests with the ideal holiday destination certain to meet your every need and more.
The appartments are located in the Quinta Pedra dos Bicos Resort, which has a hotel too in the same complex.
Everyday we try our best to give our clients the opportunity to enjoy all benefits and facilities that the resort has to offer.
Some apartments nearby are privately owned and they are rented to companies such as Albufeira Rentals.
This kind of rentals can not provide the standard services that a 4 star complex offers such as daily cleaning, change of towels, bed linen, free internet, 24-hour reception service, etc. etc.
The apartment you have booked is private and has no connection with us.
Our services, including reception, are only to be used by our clients, as it is easy to understand.
We apologize for the things that went wrong during your stay, but these unpleasant situations should be clarified with the company that you have made your booking.
Thank you for your constructive comments, and we certnaly would be delighted to receive you again, but in the apartments of Quinta Pedra dos Bicos.
Kind Regards
Dionete Gaspar

Stayed here for a hen party. We arrived early about 12pm and was allowed in our apartments straight away we had 2 apartment's booked but they were positioned opposite ends of a corridor with no balconies. We was in the older block and some of the girls had been here before and wasnt happy with this apartment so went down to reception to see if we could be moved, was told couldn't be done that day but next day was a possibility. Went out and done some exploring supermarket just over road beach not far away stairs down to beach were a bit scary very uneven and little bar opposite was lovely. Strip not far away but very much like an 18/30's holiday down their! By the morning we had recieved a letter to say we could be moved so went and had a look and was newer apartments and next to each other with balconies and right by a pool. Was very nice so we moved and had a lovely few days in the apartment had everything you would need in apartments and staff were very helpful. All in all a good complex.

Booked for a two room apartment and ended up with a three bedroom together with a living room/kitchen. Excellent apartment rooms clean and tidy (cleaned every day we were there) electric cooker, fridge, microwave, plenty of accessories as well if you need to feel the urge to cook, we ate out most of the time. Only criticism I have is when people let themselves into the building (approx four apartments to each building) the door bangs, and this in turn shakes the building and of course the associated noise, not nice especially at 2am in the morning. Facilities on the complex we good, pool side restaurant offering adequate meals during the day, a 15min walk down some steps (about 98!!) gets you to the beach which is lovely, the walk back might not be for those who struggle up stairs. We explored with short walks up the road and found other nice beaches which seemed to be better especially as the locals were the only ones on the beach.Children's facilities are very limited to the pool and a kiddies slide located elsewhere on the resort.
Booking in and out of the resort was no problem, although you have to leave a 20 Euro deposit for the key to the apartment which is refunded on your last day, would have been nice to have more information on the resort in the apartment, but that is only a minor observation.
A really good place to stay, the four star rating certainly meets the criteria.

Room Tip: The fitness centre was closed whilst we were there, there is very limited childrens acivities apart...

Plenty room in apartments only complaint not enough room around the bed. Lovely and clean central to beach and the strip also only 20 - 25 minute walk to old Alberfuria will be returning. the apartment block we were in was nice and quiet

Room Tip: Would have been better to have a room facing the pool

Have just returned from a week at this property and there were good and bad things about it.
We arrived just after 12 and were told the Apartment wouldn't be ready until after 3pm so had to put our cases in a locker room, which was guarded like Fort Knox. The temperature was in the 30s and we had to go back to ask for our cases to change into something more suitable and weren't allowed in the locker room. We had to point to our cases and the Receptionist bought them out. A lady was with a child and was told she could go in to look for her case but not the child. Quite rightly the lady said there was no way she was leaving a child on her own.

Rooms

We had a large but dingy couple of rooms. The bedroom had burgundy walls and brown curtains and was like a 70s throwback with beds so hard I think they were made out of the same material as punch bags. I kept waking up during the night with dead legs and arms which had gone numb due to lying on a rock hard bed. A few glasses of wine gets you over to sleep but it's not long before you wake up.
There was a large kitchen with good facilities, including a kettle, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, fridge and plenty of utensils if you wanted to cook. It also had a large table and was spacious.
The bathroom was fine with a bath with an overhead shower.
Towels were replenished daily and the rooms were cleaned daily.
There was no balcony or terrace and because the rooms were so dingy with the view being of a tree right in front of the windows, it wasn't very pleasant.

Staff
The Receptionist seemed pretty clueless no matter what was asked of her. When we asked about getting to the gypsy market she said it was too far to walk and we should get a bus or taxi but she didn't know anything about which bus or where to get a bus.
I also asked her about hiring a towel as I had forgotten mine. They were advertising you could hire them for around 1.50 a day or just over 7 euros for the week, but when I asked about towel hire she was again clueless and I went out and bought one. There was a chinese shop quite near to the Apartments with a large range and I got a decent towel for 6.50 euros.
We were with Jet2 and had been told the return flight times would be on the noticeboard or in the book after 5pm the night before the return journey. This didn't materialise and we had to make a number of trips to Reception before being told around 9pm of the pick up times. It's just a little niggle but you shouldn't have to rake around trying to find out what time you are getting picked up so I think the Staff in resort are seriously lacking.
Also the Jet 2 book had very little information and there were no visits from Reps during the holiday.

The Staff around the pool behind block 13 were very pleasant and helpful. The pool area is large with sufficient sun beds and mattresses can be hired for 2 euros.
A word of warning regarding the pool. There is a deep pool and a small pool above it with fountains. As you step in at the right hand side there is a slope which you can't see until you're in there. In my case I did a Delboy and slipped straight to the right as I stepped in, creating a canny splash and scraping my back.

Location

The apartments are in a good location. As you leave the complex straight ahead takes you to a good supermarket called Intermarche which had a good variety of food and drink at very reasonable prices e.g coconut cornetto type cones for 1.69 euros for 6. There was also usually a wine tasting corner where a member of staff let you try a couple of wines. My partner found a one he liked after the mini wine tasting and we stuck to it for the holiday, and at 2.79 a bottle was excellent value for a decent wine.
If you leave the complex and turn right you get to the Strip after about 5 minutes. There are a good selection of bars and restaurants but with the football being on wall to wall in most bars we didn't really get a true reflexion of what it must normally be like.
There is a taxi rank just outside to the right of the hotel and it cost 5 euros to the old town. There is also a bus stop over the road and I think it's about 1.40 a journey but we didn't use a bus so can't comment on how frequent or good a service they are.

I was quite surprised at how big this Complex is. There are a lot of buildings and it looks like some are owned and some belong to the hotel. Some had lovely balconies and some had terraces but if you get block 13 it's a bit dingy.

For location it is a good choice but there are pros and cons

Stayed here for 10 days in June. It was a little hectic at check in with tired kids and plenty of people trying to get the lone girl's attention at the desk but we ended up in a lovely 2 bed roomed apartment across from reception. View wasn't terrific but we had a balcony and tons of room for the kids. It was clean and had every extra we could think of (TV, microwave, cooker, oven, fridge, toaster, kettle, washing machine, dishwasher, etc).

The pool area was well maintained (although the adult pool tapered away pretty quickly being the only minor gripe) but the staff were very friendly. Service at the pool bar was very friendly again if a little slow.

The hotel receptionists were kept busy but they always smiled (well bar one but she at least was helpful) and special thanks to Nadia for her help on getting us all out the door on final check out.

All in all, close to the beach, great pool, nice apartments, friendly staff and a short walk to many bars, shops and restaurants. Exactly what you need.

Room Tip: 2 bedroom apartments across from reception seem to be newer and better equipped for families.
