We have just returned from albufeira staying at the Luna forte de oura. After reading the reviews we were a bit apprehensive. We found the hotel staff friendly and helpful. We were on the ground floor at the front of the hotel. We got the afternoon sun. The room was large for 2 of us with a wooden divider to separate the kitchen area from the bedroom. The hair dryer in the bathroom was broken when we arrived but was replaced within 30 minutes. Our beds were 2 singles pushed together and were like sleeping on park benches.(which I did on one occasion). We didn't eat at all in the hotel as the restaurants are plentiful and cheap. Most people who book this hotel I would imagine book room only. There was no entertainment on but it's only 5 minutes stroll to the strip. The swimming pool is on the small side but clean. Read reviews about not being able to take your own water to the pool area but I didn't have a problem. Must have missed the water warden. The rooms were cleaned daily to a good standard. I feel that because of the size of the hotel more could be done entertainment wise. I think they're missing an opportunity. Overall we thought the hotel was of a 3 star standard and would stay there again.

Me and my husband come on holiday here 4 yrs ago and we come back again! Pool is great with bar ad music, food was really nice, staff friendly and the room was clean and we had sun on our balcony too. Pity about the rain but that couldn't be helped! We loved the oura bar where Dario and Antonio welcomed us pretty much every night and the restaurants around and about are fab especially the Chinese across the road and the cockerel country kitchen yum yum!! We will be back! :-)) x

Hi All,

While we had a great holiday in Portugal our whole group (9 adults and 4 children) came home tired because of the set up of the apartments. Each couple/family thought we were getting a one bedroom apartment but what we received, can only be described as, a studio apartment with a wooden partition separating the living area from the bedroom. The whole apartment was very small. We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 young children) and we were literally on top of each other for the week. If one family member woke early, then the whole family were awake as there was literally no where to go! We tried closing the partition to see if that helped but the partition did nothing to keep the noise out of the bedroom so any chance of a ly on was ruled out after the first night. My parents were in another apartment and even they hated it as they couldnt make a cup of tea without waking the other person. Also, if you were in the sitting room, you have to walk through the so-called bedroom to get to the bathroom or leave the apartment so there is very little privacy either. I mentioned this to the receptionist (to make sure that we did actually have one bed apts and not studios) and she just smiled and said "yes.. one bed apartment that sleeps 4"!! I could not imagine 4 adults staying here! Another issue that we, and most other residents in the complex had, was that the balcony's didnt get sun at ANY time of the day so any dream of having breakfast/ lunch/ dinner on your balcony in the sun is ruled out.

The rest of the complex was good though. The pool area is large and there are lots of sun beds (so none of this running out at 6am to put your towel down:) The baby pool is quite deep though (for a baby pool) so arm bands were a necessity! The pool bar and food was good (we would recommend the spicey Chicken Burger!:). The complex has a small childrens playground which we loved as it was another way of getting the children out of the tiny apartment. The complex is only walking distance to the beach and general nightlife area. Unfortunately we didnt get to sample our complex bar/ restaurant as both were closed. This again was a dissapointment as, with small children, we were hoping to stay close and bring the children to bed when they got tired (which was often considering the set up of the apartments!).

So... in general the complex is fine. It was just a shame that the apartments let us down. If we had looked for, and paid for, a studio apartment, then we might not have been so dissapointed. I think the marketing of the apartments is misleading. Had we known in advance the set up we would not have booked these and as a result we felt we did not get what we paid for!

The Hotel foyer is dark and dismal the pool area is jaded never used it once the 10 days we were
there the rooms are clean but in need of an overhaul the staff in the hotel are the plus side
very helpful and pleasant also liked the security guard at night to keep the noise level down the location is good very near the beach and nightlife. The hotel next door is the oura praia this is
what you call Four Star wont be back to the Luna Forte.

Room Tip: Take a room with garden view on the first floor

Our trip was for four days for 2 adults. On arrival we were upgraded to a Premium suite. This was very spacious(room 405) double balconcy overlooking pool with a sea view. We had requested thus at the time of our booking. The rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh towels also. The rooms, balconies could be updated with a lick of paint and upgrading TV's to flat screen.(the missus wouldnt miss her soaps!!) The staff were very friendly and accomodating. This hotel is very central as discussed in previous posts.

Oura bar very good and cheap-great barman also the staff at SOL cafe facing it served up good breakfasts.however, Invictus up to the right. What can i say first class meals and staff. 3 course dinners with wine less than 50 euros. It was so good we ate there for 2 nights.

The strip was not as lively as i was told but plenty of pubs and shops. The beach 10 minutes away was great, 15 Euros for 2 sunbeds. A liitle restaurant above it Vivaldos?? very reasonable. If you get the chance walk through and over the rocks while the tide is out. there is a small beach here. If you have kids be careful of going into the sea as there are loads of pebbles and a steep drop to about 4ft straight away. The currents are also very strong but the vigilant lifeguards dont let you out too far.

Overall very good experience at a good time of the year. Would go back again.
