It is a super kind, nice, clean hotel! We went their for the second time!
Breakfast was complete now with eggs, bacon and beanes! We will go again!!
The walk to the beach is less than 10 minutes, and the busstop across the street!

Room Tip: We had now a great balkony arround the corner, not at the mainstreet!!

We have just returned after our third stay at this hotel yet again we found everything to the usual high standard.
The new management team are obviously trying to improve things, for example introducing a selection of hot food at the breakfast buffet. The staff are willing and helpful at all times. They do have a hard act to follow after the previous management team and from what we could see they are maintaining the Velamar high standards.
The only negatives we could identify was the occasional smell of drains, the usual inconsiderate noisy late night revellers returning back shouting "Goodnight, seeya tomorrow" down the corridors and the incessant yapping of numerous dogs from neighbouring villas (out of the management control).
Thanks Velamar for excellent value for money and agreat stay (again).

Best thing about this hotel was the great sleeps we had. Never heard a thing from surrounding rooms (I'm a light sleeper) Lots of choice at breakfast, loved the freshly peeled oranges. Always got a sunbed when we wanted one. Pleasant, friendly staff & good location for us.
Worst thing about it was sometimes the maids didn't come to make beds till 4.30 pm which in my opinion is too late when we want to shower etc. There is also minor drilling/hammering going on poolside which I felt should have been done earlier in the season, quite annoying when trying to relax..
Saying this, I really enjoyed my holiday & met some lovely people ..

We have just returned from a 10 night holiday at the Velamar. The hotel is situated in the quiet resort of Olhas D'Agua which is ideal for couples and families. The hotel is more suited to couples or friends and it was nice to see no large stag and hen parties in the hotel which is destroying many good hotels.

The staff in the hotel were all very polite and helpful. The staff were very attentive and every time I sat in the lounge the staff came over to speak and say hello. The restaurant staff were lovely always busy clearing tables for other guests. The reception staff were very helpful as was the hotel manager.

The rooms were large with fridge and air conditioning. Our room faced the road but the double glazing kept the noise out. The balconies do not get the sun as they are very enclosed, a drying rack would be useful on the balcony as I hate to see towels hanging over the balconies. There is free wifi throughout the hotel which is an added bonus. The tv had a 24 hour movie channel which was great on our last day when the weather wasn't great. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean, although cleaning was sometimes very late in the day. The beds are extra, extra, extra firm and my back is paying for this unfortunately. Great powerful shower in the bathroom.

The bar/lounge area is very comfortable. The bar prices are very good a bottle of cider was 2 euros, coffee 1 euro, great prices and they had a happy hour in the bar with selected drinks on special offer. The bar sells ice cream and toasted sandwiches.

The pool area is very small although I always managed to get a sunbed, however I did notice a few reserved beds with towels lying vacant for a good number of hours why do people do this? I think there was a lot of wasted space at the pool which could have been utilised with additional sunbeds and it would be nice to have tables and chairs just to sit and have a drink at the pool but I know the hotel are addressing this with the changes they are making.

We enjoyed our stay at the Velamar and would return as the management and staff have very high standards of customer service which is good to see. I'm sure all the improvements that are being made will further enhance the hotels good reputation.

Room Tip: Email ahead and ask for a room with a balcony.

Went for a 4 night stay with my friend as she is getting married and we wanted a chilled out few days in the sun. And that is what we got a wonderful relaxed few days in a spotlessly clean hotel in a lovely part of the world. The room was spacious, spotless and cleaned each day. We had a fridge and air con which were free. We paid for the use of the safe at 3 euros a day. The only small negative is that there are no tea making facilities in the rooms so I took a kettle as I do like to have a drink on waking and before bed. The breakfast was lovely plenty of bread croissants etc and condiments fresh fruits cereals yoghurt and some hot options. You can also have a glass of champagne if you wish, which my friend and I did. The breakfast staff were very friendly. The breakfast room is lovely and clean with beautiful views. We only sat around the pool one afternoon very comfy sun beds and new parasols which arrived while we were there. They were doing some work near the pool on that afternoon and as an apology the management gave everyone free drinks which I thought was a lovely touch.our room also overlooked the pool.the bar area is very nice comfy sofas and chairs it was very homely. The barmen were lovely, friendly and chatty. There was a karaoke one evening which we didn't stay for as had already planned to go to albufeira but it did look fun. I'm not sure how often there is entertainment. The reception staff greeted you everyday on going out and coming back and even the cleaners in the corridors spoke and smiled.I cannot fault this hotel at all from the clean rooms to friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble they were approachable and keen to answer any questions. The area is quiet ideal for rest and relaxation the beaches within walking distance are beautiful. Lots of little shops to have a look in. There is also a supermarket nearby. There are some lovely restaurants close to the hotel reasonably priced and lovely food. Overall our mini break was 5/5 we will definitely be back together for a girly mini break or with our respective partners. Thankyou to all the velamar staff for our enjoyable stay just wish we could have stayed longer.

We have just got back from a weeks stay here (31st May to 7th June) and I would definately recommend this hotel.
Like other reviews I was a tad bit worried as after booking the reviews seemed to go downhill but I need not have worried.
The hotel itself is spotlessly clean (not sure about review that said room cleanliness leaved a lot to be desired), our room 114 overlooked the main road, which could get noisy at times but nothing major (balcony doors are double glazed) - we did have a slight problem with not being able to turn the balcony light off but once curtains are closed this is not a problem (unless you like the curtains left open). Room was light and roomy, plenty of space and the en-suite modern.
For the first couple of days we found the corridors very dark and had to keep switching the lights on but after a few days the electricians either fixed or changed them to automatic ones which was a great improvement.
Breakfast was average but plenty to choose from, hot and cold, cereals etc.
The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the young girl with glasses and the young lad. Always had a smile whatever the time of day.
Cant comment on the pool area as we didn't use it, other than we did notice people putting towels on the sunbeds then coming up for breakfast! The only thing it is lacking is somewhere to sit outside and have a drink but apparently they are currently working on this and the pool table is being removed and a snack bar put in its place (and by reading some reviews this is going back to how it was). There was some work going on, painting drilling etc but it was kept to a minimum and hardly noticeable. I would stay here again if in the area. Excellent hotel and staff.
