Just got back from a week at the Lageado Sol and feel like I got myself a bargain.

We arrived at about 9.30pm and although there is nobody on reception at that time there is a number on the door that you can call. Within 5 minutes or so there will be someone there to let you in. Even though we arrived quite late we were given a run down on Albufeira and shown where everything was on a map by Salvatore. He then showed us around our room. A thoroughly warm welcome.

There were 3 of us in a 1 bedroom apt and there was plenty of room, even with 1 person using the lounge as a bedroom. The bathroom is basic but clean. The owners are aware of some issues with the showers and possible wet floors (mop and bucket provided) but we did not have any problems at all.
We only used the apartment for sleeping and showering etc so didn't do any cooking or much food preparation. The kitchen does seem to be fully stocked with cutlery, crockery and utensils though (including microwave). There is a supermarket just across the street and other larger ones nearby.
The pool area is pleasant and surprisingly quiet considering the apartment's location. There are lots of lilos around the pool if you don't like the sunbeds. There is a bar by the pool run by Marco who will look after you as long as you want to stay there.

The Lageado Sol is about 5-10 minutes walk from the strip, far enough away from the carnage! The old town is about 20 minutes walk away or about 4-5 Euros in a taxi (taxi rank is towards the strip).

The reason I gave this property 5 out of 5 was for the welcome and service from all of the staff. If you have any issues or problems or need advice, simply ask. If you want a big shiny expensive hotel with robotic staff, this place is not for you. If you want low cost, friendly accommodation in a great location, this is perfect.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Lageado Sol for 1 week at the middle-end of September. I'd read the rave reviews on tripadvisor and as a result I think I was perhaps led to expect too much. Having said that - for the price, it was very good but it certainly wasn't amazing or outstanding. We stayed in a studio, and for some reason I was still expecting a bed... well don't, you'll be sleeping on a single sofa (we just pushed ours together and the cleaner didn't seem to mind this).

The same as the reviewer below, we also had a shower that practically made the bathroom floor into a swimming pool every time you used it. A manky mop and bucket were provided so I expect that they knew that this happened (if the hotel owners are reading this, please fix!) - a bit annoying, but not the end of the world. Toilet roll supplies were very tight to start with, but towards the end of the week we ended up with a couple though we did have to ask for another one when we ran out one day. Again like the previous reviewer, we did notice a few ants around the studio (namely on the bed near the window and in the kitchen) - there weren't by any means enough of them for us to complain but if I were you I'd move one of the beds/sofas away from the window and make sure you keep your kitchen worktops spotless. Our bedsheets were a bit drab, mine had holes in it which was annoying in the night as my foot would get stuck in it. Last negative echoes the same point as many other reviewers - the sun loungers! You can only lay on your back and they're quite hard and don't recline. We noticed most people tended to grab a lilo and lay on this instead.

Aircon was offered at a very reasonable rate, but we didn't find that we needed it so I can't comment on the effectiveness of that.

Onto some more positive points! The location (for us.. a couple aged 24 and 27) was spot on. We didn't want to be too close to the strip, but at the same time we didn't want to be too far away and the hotel is ideally located for this. I'd say it was around a 10 minute walk along the main road to the strip and a little bit further to catch a 'touristic bus' (as they call it) to the Old Town (well worth a visit!). The staff at the hotel were all friendly and welcoming - they do a great job to hats off to them. We had a problem with an electrical socket in our kitchen and the man from reception (didn't get his name... you'll know who I mean!) fixed it - felt sorry for him, as you'd expect them to be able to call an electrician - I expect they're not paid very well but do a lot of work.

To sum up... you're not paying for the Ritz, so don't expect the Ritz :-) But do expect a nice holiday in a good location.

OK not a bad place buttttt arrived at 10.00 pm, two of the beds had no sheets, only towels for two people,(were 4 of us) a manky mop in bathroom. Ant attack on the next morning , sorted . Only one toilet roll for 4 of us. Turning on the shower flooded the bathroom. Cleaning was minimal every day, beds made but not all of them
Marco- bar manager - was wonderful guy, so helpful and pleasant.
Place really needs a bit of updating!!!! More staff to clean,
Good location though, pool area good

I arrived to these apartments at the start of September with 11 other friends. We were looked after from the minute we set foot in the place. We had got three rooms, none were beside each other but we didn't mind as we didn't expect it. Rooms are basic. All had microwaves, hobs, toasters, kettle and fridge/freezer. This was handy as the supermarket was directly behind the apartments(which is extremely cheap). The hotel bar was amazing. 2.50€ for a large local beer and 4.50€ for cocktails which were made to your money's worth! The pool was a perfect size, sun beds were always accessible and there is a kids pool also. It's very close to the strip, about 5-10minute walk depending on how fast you walk. About 20minute walk from old town which is a lovely walk. Alternatively you could get the train which is only 3.50 for an all day ticket or ask Marco the barman to ring you a taxi which cost nothing to ring then 4€ into old town. Marco was excellent, very helpful and kept the bar open for us if we asked. The all you can eat BBQ for 15€ was worth every cent. Fresh meat from the butchers and prepared to perfection.

The only downfall to these apartments were that the family above us often moved they're chairs without lifting them. Also we were awaken a few times by the noise of their child banging the floor with toys. We did get a few noise complaints from surrounding apartments which were dealt with from the hotel in a very professional manner.

I would recommend these apartments to anyone who is looking for a Laid back holiday or want close to the strip without having the hustle and noise from the strip.

Really nice holiday, small and friendly apartments, didnt have entertainment on or food, but the strip is a 10 minute walk away the Anchora bar was worth a visit,a very good Elvis act on two nights ,and the old town was 4 euros in taxi, with excellent resturants the oceano facing the sea, and bars the twist, fastnet, bars providing entertainment, with plenty going on.Salvatore greeted us on arrival, and provide us with maps of the area, and made us feel welcome, and new everything about area. Also moved us to a lower ground floor, due to the travel agents fault not informing that we need a ground floor.Marco run the bar,was really good company for our family whilst on holiday, and kept the bar open until late, but as there wasnt many rooms it wasnt busy. The apartments were basic, but maid came everyday, and cleaned.excellent aircon in rooms which was 5 euros for two weeks.A supemarket is 2 min walk, men dont walk in with no shirt as you get turned away,or it might be because iam fat and ugly :)..Pool was never really busy,so was always a sun lounger available.Definatel go back to Albuferia, and to the Lageado Sol.Thank you Marco and Salvatore for a lovely holiday.

can.t believe all the hype these apartments have been receiving.when we were dropped off by the shuttle bus from the airport I asked the driver had he took us to the right place.the surrounding area was like a tip over flowing rubbish bins.went in to reception to book in were the chap gave us a list of to do and don.t do and a lesson in map reading.after about 20 mins we were shown to our apartment where we given another lesson on how to use the KEY? the rooms clean and basic furniture abit dated average two star apartment, the pool area was fine but the sunbeds should have been dumped years ago,one good point was the bar and marcus the barman he was excellent,to far to beaches and old town taxi,s a must.apartment,s more suited for young people.

Myself, husband and his parents stayed for 1 week in July, nothing was too much trouble for Salvatore and Cidalia, you only had to ask and they were there. Marcus runs the pool bar and if he hasnt got it he will get it for you the next day if he can. Everybody really went the extra mile to make your stay as good a possible.
Half way through the week they organised a BBQ for the residents at 15 Euros each. There was plenty of food for each person, of burgers, half a chicken, salads, fruit, etc. It was cooked lovely and the atmosphere was fantastic.
The apartments are basic but there is everything you need and they are clean and the beds are very comfortable. We paid the extra for the room safe which if you are leaving early the next day arrange with Salvatore to get your deposit bank the night before which is what we did.
The pool is very clean and there are inflatables to lie on which were there everyday so I presume they were provided by the apartment as well as pool sunbeds.
The apartments are located in a quiet area of Albuefeira and are approximately a 10 minute walk from the strip. We did not attempt to walk to the old town as it is much further and my husbands mother does not walk well, but we were able to catch taxis (called from Reception by Salvatore) which were very cheap at 4 Euros a time for the 4 of us.
A restaurant worth a mention nearby is Fat Cats, food is very reasonably priced and friendly service.
Would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view and you will get a room overlooking the pool.
