Clube Albufeira Resort

Just back after a week at Clube Albufeira. Really great holiday. Very impressed with the room. Had a 2 bed superior and it was really spacious with comfy beds, great showers, sat tv, air conditioning etc. Even has washing machine and tumble dryer so if going for 2 weeks it's v easy to clean clothes etc. The kids loved the patio as it fronted out onto the landscaped gardens and they were able to play football etc. Defo need to request a ground floor apt if going with kids as the balconies are quite small. Pool areas were fab, all 4 of them. It rained for 2 days while there and the kids just stayed in the heated pool!! The development is large and quite hilly but doesn't annoy too much even with prams.
Onsite supermarket well stocked and good value. Plenty of parking space available too. It' s a good 15 min walk to old town, in the heat a bit far for small kids, but taxis only cost €4. About 20/25 min walk to shopping centre at start of new town. Didn't eat at any of the restaurants on site as we went into town each night. Had problem with noise from adjoining room on last night but as we had no phone in room we were unable to contact reception to sort prob. This was only issue throughout the holiday.
Would gladly recommend Ciube Albufeira, particularly to families.

Room Tip: Ask for ground floor apt near one of the pools

Just the holiday we needed!
Idyllic clean and very comfortable apartment. Well equipt.
Perfect south facing patio and lawn for our evening barbecues.
Four beautiful pools, one heated with great restaurants attached.
Great reception, hire cars, taxis, transfers etc. However very friendly and helpful owners in on site shop. Excellent choice and cheap!
Try the short walk into the old town and onto the beach, a taxi is only 4 euro if you need.
Hire a car and drive to nearby Praia de Galè. Scenic restaurants/cafe, shops, toilets, parking etc. beside miles of sand and fun waves. Turn left and walk east to rockpool or lie on an uninhabited beach.
Restaurante Tipico A Cochrira is a must! (pink building opposite only just down the road)
What more can you ask for home from home in the sun.

I would rate this hotel a zero if I could. My husband and I stayed here in April 2010. We came back on the third afternoon to find the apartment covered in black soot. Our clothes, toothbrush, utensils, everything. Even the food in the cupboards was covered in black soot.

Whilst we were out during the day there was a short in the hanging light above the dining table. I assume the short caused the light to burn which burnt through the cable holding the light. This caused soot throughout the apartment and the dining table was shattered (because of course the lamp fell through the dining table). I had reported to reception earlier that morning that there appeared to be a problem with the light (around 9am) but it appears that nothing was done about it during the day and it was only discovered around 2-3 pm (before we returned) when I believe a maintenance man saw smoke coming out of the apartment. We went to reception and they got the cleaning staff to take our things to clean and move us to another room (after we declined accepting a room in the same block). For the rest of our stay we attempted to meet with the manager to discuss the concerns that we had., e.g. what was the cause, have they informed the people downstairs that there was an electricity shortage, why was the light not looked at earlier, etc. Not once did the manager ever speak to us, only the supervisor who said that there was not much he could do and would take up these issues with the manager. We went to the office even single day to be told that the manager was in meetings, out of the office, etc. He did not even approach us to apologise. We asked whether the people downstairs had been told of the problems and I believe the answer was "Why?". They even had the nerve to ask up for our photos for their insurance policy!!! In addition, when we were supposed to leave we go caught up in the ash cloud storm and asked whether we could stay for 2 nights for free given all of the hassle that we had incurred and were told no.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!

I just wanted to express my shock at the last few reviews I have just seen here. They do not describe Club Albufeira at all. I can understand that these people had a bad experience but I think it is unfair to give the complex a bad review over one isolated incident. I had booked this complex months ago having read some of the great reviews on Tripadvisor and also had friends who stayed there for 5 years running so knew what to expect. I wasn't disappointed! The complex is top class with great facilities such as 4 swimming pools all with lifeguards and plenty of sunbeds, two great restaurants, a mini-market which sold just about everything, mini-golf and volleyball and play areas for the kids. the gardens are spectacular with so much colour and beautifully maintained. The apartment we stayed in was lovely with everything you could need. The complex is very quiet and extremely safe for children who have plenty of space to roam around. This was especially great for the teenagers in the evenings. the staff at reception were at all times friendly and helpful which you will read in most of the earlier reviews. The only downside for some people would be the hilly aspect of the complex but if you are booking just make sure to ask for one nearer to the first or second pools. I can only say that the last few reviewers had their holiday ruined by the incident they mention and this coloured their view of the holiday overall but I would definitely recommend this complex to anyone looking for a relaxing and stress free holiday.

When we first arrived at our apartment we thought we had been given a staff members apartment, it looked awful, however once inside very nice.

Pools great and child friendly

Reception staff and pool staff very rude and on occasions unhelpful

Lots of steps and hills and the only thing that appeared to be on the complex was a small shop. If you want to go into town you have to pay for a taxi or complimentary bus which wasn’t complimentary otherwise a very very long walk.

We were attacked outside our apartment by the neighbours who we had asked to keep the noise down due to them being very loud for the second night running and us having very young children. The police and the reception staff refused to move the offender/s meaning we had to leave the apartment with our two young children even though we both had injuries.

The offender/s were then allowed to remain on site using all facilities whilst we had to down size to a one bedroom apartment miles away from the remaining people that we had gone on holiday with.

Also the resort itself were unwilling to help as the offender/s apartment had been rented privately and they stated they were unable to do anything.

I have travelled to many countries and I can say that this has been the worst experience ever and the staff most certainly did not like holiday makers
