This place was so disgusting, we checked out the next day. The apartment smelled overall, with the bathroom smelling like sewage. The bed springs were broken & the bed was damp as if it had been set outside in a rainstorm & had not completely dried. The outside of the bed was stained & falling apart. The bed linens were old & threadbare. The white sheets were yellow & the blanket stained & we found hair on the sheets (not ours!) The doors had rust around them. The floor was dirty & had hair. The kitchen was outdated & had on old beat up fridge next to a sort of newer fridge as if it were just being stored there until it was to be thrown out. The staff did not care one bit that we were unhappy with our unit & were checking out after one night of what was to be a one week stay. I do not understand any of the good reviews listed here. I would warn people to STAY AWAY!!!!

We were here the last week of March 2012. If like us, you have the idea of using it just as your base and then travelling the beautiful area of Algarve by car, I'd say that the place is OK. But, if your intention is just to be here and relax, I'd say that is NOT a good idea.

Generally I don't pay too much attention to some "small inconveniences", but I am going to mention some of them in the case you do.

Although the apartments are like nice condo townhouuses, you'll hear all the noices around you, including walking or moving chairs from the guy upstairs (2 levels of apartments) or the talking of the couple just byside your unit, or the snoring of your oth neighbor. If you are a TV lover, you'll find just one small TV set in the living room.

Also, depending on the location of your house within the resort, you'll also hear the noice from the street (cars, sirens of the police or ambulances). There is a mayor road sorrounding the club

As it happens in most of european resorts, Internet in the room is non existant. If you need it, you must go to the reception building (in my case about 10 blocks) and pay 2€ for 30 minutes using their only computer because there is NO wi-fi. Also there is NO partial use. If you need only 10 minutes, once you logged off, the half an hour is gone.

Club Albufeira has 2 swimming pools and a lot of the houses are built around them. I was lucky because in the last week of March there were no kids and the temperature was not too high but, if you come in the Summer be ready for the daily and noicy party because from your bedroom to the water there will be no more than 15 yards. So... If you are a silence lover, don't come during the Summer.

From the point of view of money for value, I'say that it is OK. Anyway, when I made the reservation last Sept/2011, using an RCI certificate, I had to pay $200 extras for an upgrade from a studio to one bedroom. But to my surprise, when I was making the check in, a couple before me was offered the same upgrade for just €52 (about 70 dollars). Thanks RCI !!!!. FYI: if you are coming through RCI, the maid will make your room twice a week.

Also they will charge you an utility fee up front of €52 per week for a one bedroom apartment for the use of water, and electricity.

The rooms are very confortable and well equiped but, if you have kids, the small fridge below the countertop is almost useless. It has also a dishwasher and a small freezer same size of the fridge. By the way, the room have NO washer or dryer. You should go to the laundry room (lavanderia) wich is located one block from the reception. I can't imagine how they handle that during the Summer with so many visitors !

For your convenience, you have a restaurant and a small minimarket in the resort but you'll find more selection of food and better prices if you go to PINGO DOCE (a supermarket located five minutes away by car).

Again, I have no complaints. These coments are aimed just to those who these details can ruin their vacation

This was one of the best apartments we've stayed in (couple with 2 kids, aged 2 and 4) - huge, excellent kitchen with dishwasher; washing machine and dryer in separate cupboard with cleaning eqpt; nice decor; enormous balcony/terrace; great pool for kids.

We were lucky enough to get upgraded to a superior 2-bed, 2-bath apartment (had booked a basic one-bed), at the top of the development (up the hill, near the blue restaurant) - about 60m2. Loved everything about it, from the colourful prints of local scenes on the walls, to the curved sitting room with built-in sofa; excellent electric cooker; open kitchen to dining/sitting room - separate rooms, but with opening between them - perfect for keeping an eye on kids when preparing meals.

Massive corner terrace - we were on end of small block, so had roof of apartment below - ideal clothes-drying spot as sun most of day!

All seemed new - paintwork, furniture, kitchen equipment - not sure if well maintained or newly fitted/decorated. Solid, good-quality furniture (dining table was round and wooden, topped with granite with glass over it), and decent cooking pans. Nice fabrics with matching cushions. Thought had gone into such details. Even the lighting was superb - ambient in dining room, bright in bathroom. Hard to fault generally.

Plenty of storage space - fitted cupboards and bedside small chests of drawers.

Great pool - large adult part with various areas, then small, shallow kiddie bit attached. Pool bar, and cafe nearby. Other pools in other parts of complex. Very well maintained grounds with bougainvillea, fig trees, adelphas.

Handy little shop with everything from British newspapers and magazines to armbands, suncream and fresh, packeted and frozen food (incl cereal, ice-cream, pasta, fresh bread), all more expensive than supermarket (several close by), some items triple the normal price. We ate at one restaurant in the complex - pricey but delicious, and good service (Brazilian owner).

Five minutes' drive to Albufeira - loads of bars, restaurants, beaches.

Only complaints - loo at pool was really disgusting - filthy and stinking; and drain overflow poured water into area behind apartments, with sludgy stuff hanging down from pipe - yuck!

Overall, an excellent options for families who are happy with some days spent by pool, others at the beach. We were very happy and comfortable and wished our own house was this nice! Will probably be back, though not sure if we'll be lucky enough to get such an amazing free upgrade again!

Room Tip: Near the pool is probably noisier; we had go down some steps and over roads to get to the pool, but...

We spent two weeks in the Algarve area and after staying at another hotel complex the first week we then stayed at Club Albufeira. When we first arrived, we were given an apartment close to the main road, a bit of road noise and away from amenities. But went back to reception and asked for another apartment. No problem. They gave us an absolutely beautiful new apartment with its own back garden (5 star standard). The kitchen was a delight, everything you needed. The cozy fireplace was a nice addition. Air con/heating was great for keeping things comfortable. And the apartment was only a short walk to any of the swimming pools. We came in December and was a little disappointed that the one heated pool they had was out of service because the heater was broken. But couldn't be helped. I would also suggest that they try to get internet access available in the apartments. All in all our stay was enjoyable and VERY comfortable. The staff at reception was more than helpful at directions to places in the area. would love to return again!

Room Tip: Less road noise further back of the complex, closer to the Azur Restaurant or around the pools

Totally enjoyed our 2 week stay at Club Albufeira. We are 2 adults and 3 children ( 12,10 & 4 ).
We booked our apartment directly with Club Albufeira and it was delightful ( we tend to book 5 star accomodation when we go abroad, and wondered if this would be a disappointment ) but, it definitly wasn't. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had everything you would need for a very comfortable stay. Clean linen was delivered every other day, the water was hot for baths etc, air condition was very useful indeed.
Each morning, the garden staff would be out, pruning, tidying the grounds for the day ahead. It was impressive to see how much dedication was put into maintaining the environment for their guests.

The resort is slightly hilly, but going by the obesity problem we have in the UK, its a perfect place to go and get fit !! We decided not to hire a car for our stay and had great fun walking, using the club mini bus, using the taxis and local busses ( all very cheap and cheerful ) it gave us an opportunity to really " see " portugal, than be stuck in a car.

The children thought the pools were excellent, catering for all ages.

The staff in the reception area were very helpful an friendly.

Overall a super place and will be going again in 2012.
