We stayed at JVP in 2009 and enjoyed it so much when we were looking for a few days break in Feb we had no hesitation in returning.Arrived to a friendly welcome and were told that we had been upgraded to an apartment with pool view. The standards we remembered from the 2009 visit had been maintained, very clean and as much kitchen equipment as you would ever need(most of it new)even a washing machine. The only downside as others have mentioned is it's a hike to the beach,we always hire a car from Economycarhire free parking on site and even got an upgrade from them.Shops,Restaurants and a bar all within a two minute walk, take care as the roads around complex are a bit busy.Gale beach is the best known but down most of the side roads another superb beach is waiting to be discovered.

We had a one week stay last September at this little gem of a place. It is a perfect self catering base if you intend to hire a car and want a home from home in the sun. The apartments are clean and functional, the pools quiet and welcoming and Vale De Parra is a really nice little town which needs to be discovered but not by too many because it might just spoil it.

It's well worth a visit, we will definitely be back.

Tips. 1) You need a car. 2) Don't go expecting a 5 star hotel, be realistic. 3) Ignore the negative reviews, some people make me laugh with their expectations.

We have recently stayed for a two week holiday and found it fairly basic in apartment facilities, the bathrooms are modern in design but need a general spruce-up (Tile grouting dingy and the floor floods when using the bath/shower, shower curtain in need of a holiday) but the linen was superb.
They claim to have Satalite TV but for English speaking guests there was only CNN and a very intermittent Sky news (it worked for two minutes and then vanished for the next ten minutes) they have no oven in the kitchen but the microwave has a grill/oven option.
The pools and grounds are excellent but there is little for children other than the pool to occupy (No means of kids tv or dvd entertainment) unless the kids learn Portuguese.
Overall we had a great holiday but dined out mostly and there are some really good local restaurants and beaches to visit and the staff are really helpful and hard working.

Spent 1 week here with friends, June/July 2010. The place is very clean & well looked after & provides all the basic needs for a sunshine holiday by the pool..( the poolside bar only opened on the 1st July) but the other 'Littrus' bar was open & the staff very accommodating. The town/village is very quiet with only 2 or 3 bars close by and 3-4 restaurants at most. We ate in a couple of the restaurants & the food was good & the prices very fair. The nearest & nicest beach ('Gale') on foot is an easy 1/2 hour walk, it is nice & sandy & quite spacious but it is a bit 'seaweedy' in the sea. This place was very popular with families & is a nice quiet place to stay (most days we had the pool to ourselves until about 3pm) but if you want shops & more nightlife you do need to go into Albufeira. The taxi fare was 10 to 11 euros one way, so if you want 'quiet', stay here but if you fancy a bit of life you need to budget for the extra 20 - 22 euros per day for taxis. (We didn't try the bus service so I can't say about public transport)

We went here with my 11 year old daughter for a weeks stay, I can't believe no-one has ever mentioned the traffic noise. The apts are on the corner of 2 very busy roads, one is the main road into Albufira and the other goes down to the coast, we nicked named these the M1 & A1. We were first put into an apt. over looking the A1 & over the bar (block 3) asked to be moved, which they did striaght away, but then we were sideways on to the M1 (block 0) with no view, if you can, upgrade to a poolside apt, the noise is alot less. We asked if we could upgrade, they said no. The apt itself was large, seperate kitchen(fully equiped), the beds are like sleeping on a board with very lumpy pillows. Our baloney was no more than a extended shelf (24" wide) couldn't sit out. They are very clean. The pool area again very clean, with plenty of beds, not so many parasols. The pool snack bar only opens in july & august . Both the pools were freezing. They are also open for the locals to come & use. There is 1 bar, 1 cafe, 1 supermarket, 1 indian resturant and that is it, you DO need a car. As for going the beach, we walked one day & at a good pace it took 45mins, along the A1, & thats with not carrying any bags/beach stuff. We would not go back here again.
