The being an apartment-hotel, it is very good. The rooms are big and modern, the kitchenette is very well equipped, and almost all rooms have a view to the ocean and the pool. The pool is pretty big and nice, the pool-bar is open until 1 a.m. and the staff is nice. The only disadvantage of the hotel is the fact that it is far from the center of the city or the beach. During the day, however, there is a free bus to take the guests to different beaches of the zone. By night, if you want to have a drink in the city, better drive or call a taxi.

Stayed here from the 3rd of July for 8 nights self catering. Nice hotel, very spacious rooms with very good self catering facilities. Hotel is very isolated and there is nothing nearby accept for the O Favinha restaurant (turn right out of the hotel , carry on straight and then left no more than a 5-10 minute walk, amazing food and very reasonably priced). No longer a supermarket in the hotel which means that unless you go straight to a supermarket in Albufeira you will pay 1.50 for a tiny bottle of water in the hotel. Bar lady around pool area could do with learning how to smile, quite miserable and unfriendly, pool bar prices are very expensive but are ok for the odd bite, but very expensive if you chose to eat there regularly, and always a big queue so be prepared to wait!

Did not use gym or indoor pool so I cannot comment but indoor pool is very very small but would be suitable for young children. Outdoor pool really is cold even in July but good for cooling off, just beware that the deepest end is 9ft deep and there is not much warning so beware with young children. Sunbed availability was ok for the first couple of days but as the hotel got busier we had to reserve our sunbeds by 9am otherwise you will be without one all day, most people reserve their sunbeds go out all day and use their sunbeds from 3pm onwards. However there is plenty of areas away from the pool that you can lay a towel on the grass.

Large tennis and football courts, did not use these but my understanding is that you pay a deposit for the equipment. Iron and ironing board available at reception, £25 euro deposit to pay. Air conditioning in the room was great however the Air con in the living area never worked very well but we may have been unlucky with our room.

The hotel is very large and is the nicest hotel I have personally stayed in, however it does lack character and atmosphere. Reception staff were very friendly and were happy to call Taxis for us at no charge, however taxis can take anything from 5 minutes to 1 hour, I would recommend getting a card from one of the taxi drivers and asking the hotel to call that particular taxi if you require more than a five seater for example as these seemed hard to come by but did not affect me personally but did seem a problem for families wanting to venture out. Wifi was free whilst we were there and worked around the pool area and lobby, we were on the fourth floor so did not work in the room but there was another free wifi called PT wifi which was useable out on the balcony. As we arrived when the Hotel was not as busy we were able to check in early but by the time we had left we were unable to get a late check out, however checkout is not untill 12:00 which is a lot better than previous hotels i have stayed in. There is a shower and storage room next to the reception and they will provide towels and access if you have a later flight.

As other people have said if you are self catering, bring a dishcloth, salt, pepper etc. I spent the week washing up with babywipes :)

Cleaners came in everyday and towels seemed to be changed very regularly, however they clean between 9-5, not great if you like a siesta!

Although we ventured out every evening, when we did return there did not seem to be much in the way of entertainment, the man that plays the piano is very good but not sure this is something that you would want to listen to every night. I believe there is some form of entertainment in the area next to the pool bar but we did not go there.

The free shuttle bus was good and runs Monday to Friday at 10:00, 12:00, 15:00 and 17:00 from the Hotel. The driver had a split personality and went from very friendly to quite rude quite quickly! The Hotel should think about running the shuttle bus in the evenings/weekends, perhaps for a small charge per person to eliminate the taxi issue.

I personally would recommend the Old town which has so much choice and is suitable for families, couples and teenagers. There is a beach bar which makes the best cocktails and you can lounge on beanbags. Taxis cost between £8-10 euros, new town is between £7-8 euros, the new town is good for a few drunken nights out but does seem to host a lot of bar crawls 

The hotel is approximately 30-40 minutes from the airport and for us was the first and last stop, there did not seem to be any other hotels inbetween.

Overall a nice hotel but very much out in the sticks, i would probably not stay again for this reason but may look to stay at their sister hotel in the centre of Albufeira.

Room Tip: Groundfloor ideal for small children as steps lead down to pool area.

The hotel is situated close to nothing. There is no shop in the holtel so if you are self catering you need to go out (taxi ride) to buy provisions. The staff are rude, have attitude and speak to you like naughty children if you do not comply with the many rules in place.Has potential but staff need to remember we are their customers
ok for a base if you don't mind a taxi ride to go out
would recommend looking for a hotel nearer to civilization

Could be so nice. Dirty outside the rooms. Lack of staff who give a hoot. No shop in hotel or nearby hotel. Tiny bottle of water 1.5 euro and I mean tiny bottle. Whole place needs a management team and staff that have been trained to care.

Just back from two weeks here - 11 to 25 June 2013. Party of 4 on All Inclusive basis - all adults.

I would not say this was a 4* hotel by the standard of others I have visited around the world. I think they probably got it because of their "facilities" - indoor as well as outdoor pool, gym, spa treatments, hairdresser etc.
Be warned the hotel is isolated - there is nothing close by - no bars no shops and the on site supermarket is now closed! You will need to use their free bus (BUT that finishes at 17.20 and does not run on weekends or bank holidays) or get a taxi to nearest towns. That is unless you fancy a 30 minute walk into Alhos d' Agua or 60mins into Albufeira!! Yes we did both. Taxis are about 7 Euro into Albufeira.
Free bus runs from hotel to Albufeira at 10.00, 12.00, 15.00 and 17.00. It comes back at 10.20, 12.20, 15.20 and 17.20.
On arrival we found the rooms large - with full kitchen, table and chairs for 6, two sofas (which were also beds), large bathroom and twin beds in the bedroom. Lots of wardrobe space. Blackout curtains in the rooms. Air con in the bedroom and living/dining area. All nice and tidy and clean on arrival. All rooms look over the pool and have balcony. We were on the third floor. At least 6 lifts in the hotel as well as staircases. Restaurant on the 5th floor overlooking the pool. It's buffet at all times. I did see some comments about the food not being hot (before we visited). They have signs up saying what temperature it's at (they must have had complaints) and if you want it heated more then you just need to ask. We though it was 95% hot enough. Good selection at every meal - breakfast usual - sausage, bacon, eggs (all ways), bread, rolls, cheese etc etc At lunch and dinner always soup, fish, meat (beef, gammon, pork), pasta and something for the kids if they don't fancy the main e.g. fish fingers. I don't think you will go hungry:-) Oh and if you need something else to eat just to keep you going - the pool bar serves snacks between 11.00 and 18.00. The usual - burgers and chips, toasties etc. The bar also sells crisps and nuts - normal size bag of crisps at 1.5 Euro (ouch!!). But that's better than 2.5 Euro at Faro airport.
I think they could do better with the cleaning side of things - our room was never as clean as when we arrived and the public areas - particularly the staircases were not clean - fag ends and accumulations of hair etc. all the while we were there.
The pool bar was ok - everything in plastic (good for not breaking but horrible to drink out of) - local spirits and Sagres beer. You can only get 2 drinks at a time per person so if you are in a crowd - go up with your mates! When pool area was busy there was often a long queue at the bar. The bar in reception was "soulless" but drinks in glass. And contrary to what someone else said you CAN take drinks from here to your room - all they ask is that you get them in plastic tumblers - seems fair given everywhere is tiled.
Entertainment was TERRIBLE when we visited (June 2013). A guy on a piano, someone on an accordion, a singer and guitar player. Oh dear what about the kids!
Wi-Fi - is available at a cost - 5 Euro for an hour in the lobby. They have an internet kiosk for 1 Euro for 15 minutes in the lobby. If you fancy a walk or the first stop on the free bus - most of the pubs in Alhos d' Agua offer free Wi-Fi! Good excuse to go for a beer:-) About 1.5 Euro a pint.
Safe deposit box in the room - again at a cost - 25 Euro deposit (for a key that goes inside the box) and then 3 Euro a day. I thought that was quite steep.
You can get pool towels for 10 Euro deposit.
Lots of sun beds BUT watch where get them: Looking at the bar with pool to your back: if you choose beds to the right you'll get the sun first thing until about 16.00. Drawback is that the nearer the pool bar you get the noise from a huge extractor fan (from the underground garages I think) gets really loud. It runs for ages - goes off for a while and then starts all over again. If you go to the other side you get the sun from 11.00 (ish) until late.
Pool is large and in places 9 feet deep! Oh but you are not allowed to dive?? We did and no one came near. There is NO lifeguard on duty. Water very cold - sorry - bracing:-) No doubt will heat up a bit as season goes on.
Kids pool looked ok and plenty of seats around for the parents.
Couple of stag do's in when we were there - one of about 20 guys. They did clog the bar! I can see why us Brits can get a bad reputation.
Staff on the whole were very friendly and had reasonable English - enough to get by and certainly better than my grasp of their language!!
I did notice that English speakers were very much in the minority at the hotel a mixture of Portuguese and Spanish mainly.

There was no daytime activities at all when we arrived but that changed about the 19th June when the "animation" team got going. Not the "heart and soul of the party" types but they tried.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms - patio doors from living area open onto balcony and then a few steps down to the...

Recently visited this hotel as a group of 9.

We arrived early and the hotel were good enough to check us in early.
The rooms were clean and tidy aswell as modern and well equipped. With each room having a twin bedroom and a lounge area with 2 sofa beds, full self catering facilities despite being all inclusive.
The pool area was clean with a bar open most of the day. The bar man on the first day Jorge was very friendly and helpful however on the remaining days a woman had taken over who was rude and would not allow common sense in any of her decision making, allowing only 2 items per any transaction despite our party sitting within 10ft of the bar in her view resulting in a farcical scenario of carrying out a transaction and then rejoining the end of the queue for the remaining items 4 or 5 times, we all agreed she ruined the days on which she was on duty. The food was also served cold and sometimes not at all and was pretty poor quality with bizarre looking burgers and cardboard chips.

The food in the main restaurant was the same food regurgitated night after night which was pretty low quality and also cold. Despite being all inclusive we only ate here once as it was that bad.

Breakfast was the best meal served at the hotel with the expected usual selections available.

Fortunately as we were on a stag week we spent every night outside of the hotel as the entertainment consisted of a man playing a piano in the hotel reception/bar area, the same every night! Talented but very dull.

Beware the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, around 8€ away from the main town in a taxi, not walkable!

Overall not bad but would not rush back!

So we arrived at the hotel Saturday late morning and it did look very nice. Our apartment was ready, a very pleasant surprise.
Unfortunately that was where pleasant ended.
The hotel wasn't 5euros away from the town, but 10 euros in each direction. When the receptionist was asked where the shop was or if there were any local shops, her response was 'there is nothing, we are in the middle of the trees', really helpful.
There was no store on site, the shuttle bus only runs 4 times a day and not on weekends, and the resort was geared up for all inclusive only, not much good when your trip is self catering. The hotel was tatty and could do with a major facelift.
I would not recommend this hotel and certainly would not stay here again.
Portugal however is lovely and I would highly recommend it!!!
