Owner description: Guided tour of Roman Portugal. Visit ruins of a Roman settlement in Cerro da Villa, near Vilamoura; during the Roman Empire, the harbour was a hub of commercial and trading activity. At the Roman Museum in Loulé, peruse Roman artifacts. In Faro, explore Vila Adentro, the oldest part of the city to see significant monuments, including the Sé Cathedral, the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, as well as authentic Roman tiles in the Museum of Faro. The last stop is Tavira, famed for its stunning architecture. Cross the ancient Roman bridge and retreat to the parish church to observe a variety of art pieces and architectural styles. Then, trace Roman tracks through Tavira's oldest quarter to the 11th-century castle, and the Church of Santa Maria.

“This was the best all day tour we've been on!”
Reviewed 4 October 2013

If there is one tour you should do while on holiday, this is that tour! It is an all day tour which will cost you about 32 euros each, but it is a very long tour lasting from about 8 in the morning until 7 at night! You visit Silves (The old Moorish Capital) Castle and Cathedral. You climb the Monique Mountains to Foia which is the highest point in the Algarve. I would suggest wearing a pair of trainers or similar as the actual peak of the mountain is about a 3 meter scramble. I did manage it in my thonged foam flip flops, but it was a challenge...
You then make your way down the mountain to a restaurant which they offer you to stop at for a meal. It will cost about 13 euros, but this includes an all you can eat starter, main course and dessert. It also includes plentiful wine, a coffee at the end and a shot of either fire water or almond liquor. We did bring a packed lunch, but decided to take advantage of the meal as it was such good value.
After the meal you will then make towards Lagos (fort and old town including Saint Anthonys Golden Church) before heading to Cape St Vincent (also known as the End Of The world).
You will need to pay for entries into the different churches and castles. It is not much, maybe a couple of euros each per attraction, but it does add up a little.
There are toilet facilities at the castle in Silves whoich are located behinf the café (you do not need to purchase anything). You have to pay 50 cents for the ones in Cape St Vincent.

I probably wouldn't do this tour again, as I have already done it, but I would definitely recommend it if you haven't hired a car to do the tour yourself.

“lots to see”
Reviewed 13 June 2013

If you only have a short time in Algarve this is one way to see a lot.. we took the tour at 8am and only returned at 7pm.. in the day we saw 5 different areas including villamor, albuferia, cape st Vincent, Lagos, the monchic mountains.. the tour took you up to the highest point in Portugal and down to the end of the world as they call cape st Vincent.. it takes in lots of the areas and you get time to spend in the town of Lagos with a stop as you come down from the mountains for lunch. We got a lovely restaurant and lunch was only 13euro for a 3 course with wine.. we saw all the trees along the way that provide the cork for all our wine.. an experience up the mountain especially in the summer with lots of buses and roads not really big enough for 2 buses.. the town of Lagos was great for last minute bits and plenty to see either in the town or in the shopping area... a great tour overall.. we were lucky to have an English gentleman as our guide and with all his knowledge he fit a lot into the day and the time just flew by.. a great day was had by all

Portugal has an old fashioned charm and is full of beautiful coastlines. One of europe's best climates.
