Stayed here recently and have just returned. On arrival we were not made feel welcome by the frosty receptionist. Not sure how she has a job in a front desk reception and unable to even fake a smile to guests. We were given 1 key card which is fine because my husband and I always came and left together but had the hotel been in a central location 1 key card would not have been ideal. Was disappointed with the blue and yellow old fashioned room, very outdated and must not have been seen when the hotel were awarded 4 stars! It was clean which means a lot but I'm not so sure about the floor. The bed had 1 pillow and a small one (cushion size) in the wardrobe. I requested one from the cleaner. She left in another small one. I met her the next morning and she told me it's all she could find. The bed clothes didn't stay on the bed too well eg. Under Sheet was ripped and wouldn't stay on the corners which is something that bugs me! The bathroom was fairly modern and nice, toiletries not topped up so much but we had enough. The wardrobe contained a safe but I'm not sure did a key have to be hired at reception for this, we didn't enquire, I kept our passports and valuables with me at all times as felt safer. The room didn't have an iron as advertised, but we managed without. We did get fairly good nights sleep as no external noise issues. Good points about the room aswel as clean, free wifi and air con.
Found the breakfast to be inedible. Tried different things the 1st 2 mornings but had to eat elsewhere after this. I like my coffee and the machined coffee was disgusting. We therefore didn't try an other meals here when they got the breakfast so wrong.
The bar seemed to be a counter beside reception with the black white leather chairs as the so called advertised lounge, not so inviting and never saw anyone have a drink there. The outside pool area we attended once and was adequate. Around the pool could be kept better, some grass growing between tiles etc
The location wasn't suitable for us at all. We were having to get taxis mostly. The public transport system in the area is not at all great. Poor signage in general for tourists. We normally went to the old town as I had researched and this seemed to be the nicest area and indeed it was nice.
We booked this hotel due to the tour operator Alpharooms not being able to honour our booking at another 4 star hotel due to overbooking. Hotel Maritur was more or less booked hurriedly by alpharooms less than a week prior to our departure. There is no atmosphere at this hotel. It reminded me of a morgue and we couldn't wait to get out of there.
