We stayed at the Gale Nautico from the 29/07/14 and returned today. This may have been a five star review i had not been the ear infection that my son suffered that ruined the last three days of our stay. The rumour going around the resort was that maybe up to 10 to 15 children had suffered ear infections with the general consensus being that the indoor pool was to blame. When I spoke to reception seeking advice where to take my son for medical attention they even stated that this was happenig alot. We did speak with the Thomas Cook Rep who stated that he had spoken to the manager who did not seem interested and passed it off like a politician.

I do really belive they need to address the ear infection problem. On one day they closed the pool and I thought finally they are doing something and recognising the problem only to find that they had erected a scaffold in the pool to fix the celing that had fallen into it and then opened it soon after

As I said earlier this may have easily been a five star review. Generally the hotel was excellent. It was very clean (bordering on excessive) and the food was pretty good, everything you would have expected for all inclusive. During the day they offer snacks around the pool that everybody seemed delighted with such as burger and chips and baguettes.

Entertainment was pretty good on some nights ,especially the dancers!!. And the staff were excellent and very friendly

I hope they sort this problem out as this is a very good hotel with great staff who are very attentive.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your kind comments about your experience in Vila Galé Náutico.
It is a great pleasure to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and let us express our gratitude by thanking you for sharing your positive thoughts, especially regarding our staff, cleanliness, AI quality and entertainment.

We truly hope that your son has already fully recovered from the ear infection.
Please be aware that management takes in high priority all issues concerning health problems, and those are dealt based on facts, not rumours or general consensus.

We inform that we run 4 times per day a chemical control check regarding PH, chlorine, etc. as well as a twice per month bacterial and microbiologic water analysis which we have passed already to Thomas Cook.
Please send us your e-mail in order to send you a copy of the lab results.
Unfortunately your son had an ear infection which we deeply regret but please be assure that the cause did not definitely came from the indoor swimming-pool water.

On my own behalf and on that of the Vila Galé Nautico Hotel team, we hope we have the honour of hosting you again in a near future or on our most recent 5 Star Hotel in Portugal (Vila Galé Collection Palácio dos Arcos).

Kind regards

We stayed at the Vila Gale Nautica for 11 nights from the 22nd of July with our two children age 13 and 15.

All in all we had a good time here the staff are friendly and our family double room was a good size with 2 balconies.

We had high expectations based on the reviews but we usually go 5 star and this hotel is what I would call a good 3 star with a few positives.

The good points:

Food not bad some nights have better chooses than others but the kids were always happy eating in the hotel restaurant.

The surrounding area is lovely to walk about in the evening with plenty of restaurants and bars if you fancy a break from the hotel. we dined out 3 or 4 times and this helped balance things out and some of the local restaurants are very good.

The floor is moped daily and beds made with clean towels etc that said the beds are twin not double and the mattresses are of very poor quality and uncomfortable.

The beach is nice and only a short walk across the road you get a nice breeze here compared to zero breeze at the secluded pool area.

The hotel feels very safe we were happy for kids to stay up and hang out and we left phones, ipads etc by our sun beds on many occasions with no problems.

The not so good:

The fridge in the room never has any drinks put in it for you and if you want water you need to wait until 9pm to get a bottle from the bar which has a massive queue at this time in general.

The pool is deep all the way round and cold so didn't use this much however the kids still enjoyed it.

This pool is not for poor swimmers and the sun beds are impossible to relax on they are lumpy hard plastic with no mattresses ( it's becomes too uncomfortable to sunbathe on these hard boney beds )

The entertainment is naff unless you like karaoke 80's style you might struggle to be entertained, and the Bar only has 2 bar men which is inadequate with lengthy queues and is very poor compared to other all inclusive hotels we've stayed at.

If you are used to a 3 star Spanish holiday you will love this place, however if you are used with 5 star hotels you will be disappointed and underwhelmed overall.

I will not be returning to this hotel but for the money it was ok I just think I will invest an extra grand next time and go back to 5 star.

Stayed for a week all inclusive from 19th July. The standard of cleanliness was fantastic, you could clearly see the care that was taken around all areas and was always people cleaning - the pool and surrounding area was also cleaned every day.

The food was really good, we are a family of three and between us have just about every bit of fussy eating you could find but we all ate well and enjoyed the food - a really good thing that I found was there is a special kids area which is at a lower level so that the young ones can help themselves which is always good to give them some confidence.

Most days we had lunch from the pool snack bar and again the food from here was really good.

One thing that we noticed however was there seemed to be queues for dinner if you weren't down by 7.30/8pm - this had no effect on us as we tend to be going for dinner about 7 anyway.

The room we had was in a good state of repair and there was loads of room, our wee boy was on a made up sofa bed but he found it comfy and all a bit exciting.

The only thing that I feel lets the hotel down a bit is the entertainment at night or rather the lack of it but that is the only grumble I have.

Finally, the town of Armaceo do Pera itself is small and quiet, not a bad thing but if you are looking for a lively party atmosphere you wont find it here.

Defiantly recommend and may well be back next year!

just returned from a 10 day stay, 2nd time at this hotel , nothing has changed and its still a great place for a holiday, food was brilliant, yes there were queues for the bar but it was peak season with the hotel at maximum capacity so what do you expect? . The 2 Ricardos and Joao do a fantastic job serving everyone, and all the staff from the cleaners , waiters and chefs do a brilliant job, pool was refreshingly cold and the weather beautiful, would definatly come again as we love everything about the Vila Gale nautico, the manager went out of his way to speak to us and my partner really enjoyed the sangria he gave us, thanks to you all

On arrival our room wasn't ready so the hotel offered to put our suitcases somewhere safe while we had lunch. Room was on the 2nd floor overlooking the car park and football pitch, which was very quiet. Room was kept extremely clean by our lovely maid every day. All staff were friendly and helpful. The food was ok, but we ate out most nights even though we were all inclusive. The queue for the bar in the evening was ridiculous!! Only 2 bar staff serving. The Thomas Cook Rep was so poor, unapproachable and thats if you found him! The sun beds were all reserved from early morning, even though everyone is given info that the hotel wont allow this. I noticed about 8 sun beds all reserved for a whole morning with towels and not one was used! This is off putting and we preferred to go to the beach. Overall, an enjoyable relaxing holiday and would go again.

Room Tip: 2nd floor facing the car park/football pitch, rather than swimming pool.

Just returned from 10 days all inclusive.
Generally the hotel is okay, it's clean and in good condition. The food is of a good standard and none of our party fell ill, which is always a bonus.
The only gripes we had were these:
There are only 2 bartenders at the bar each evening, which meant that there was normally a queue 20-40 people deep waiting for a drink. They needed more bar staff.
The all inclusive drinks were quite limited, resulting in only a few basic cocktails being available. (wife wasn't happy).
The A la carte restaurant wasn't really a la carte, serving just pizza's and pasta. It was normally always empty but took up valuable free tables in the restaurant which added to the long queues if going to dinner after 7.30 pm.
The town doesn't have a huge amount of shops or things to do. You can walk the length & back in 30 minutes and the main resorts are quite far away, resulting in expensive taxi rides of 40 -80 euro round trips.
We have a daughter that sleep walks and the family rooms did not have a security chain on either the front door or balcony door, which means that by pulling the handles the doors fully opened. We would have thought they should have more security.
The evening entertainment was generally equivalent to a working mens club, with an ageing chap on a keyboard knocking out old tunes. Sometimes there was a parrot show or 2 dancers, but very basic and not 4 star quality.
Rooms very small, when having 2 children in the room as well.

On the whole a nice hotel, but more 3 star or 3 star plus than 4 star.

The food was the best we have had in all-inclusive holidays, the staff are so attentive without being in your space. the accommodation of the hotel was perfect for the family and the entertainment was of a better quality of many all inclusive hotels. The local beach was wonderful and not over crowded, and the town was full of friendly locals. I went in peak holiday time and felt valued and not jut a number. Thank you Vila Gale Nautico

Room Tip: We was on the second floor near the reception. This was very good for us, If you want to be close to...
