“Great location, clean, good facilities”
Reviewed 12 October 2012

We booked this hotel as part of an EasyJet holiday in October and were very pleased. The room was a decent size with a good balcony, fridge, comfy bed and very clean. It felt quite empty as Oct is out of season there and I think most other guests were leaving early to play golf but we had a very relaxing and pleasant stay. The hotel is a short uphill walk from the beach, very close to bars and restaurants, I wouldn't want to be any closer to the beach as I think it would be noisy. Hotel has large free car park. Staff were helpful and friendly (with one exception who was so miserable each day it became a talking point).

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, although this means you have the furthest walk from reception.

I went for a week and really liked it. Its in a great location, easy walking distance to the beach and restaurants/ bars. The rooms are basic, beds are hard and the room service people did not change our sheets on our second nite. The pool is great and lots of shade too. The breakfast is good,. but not brilliant. The bar and restaurant staff are very miserable .. and not friendly .. i would return and just ignore the staff. If you want a quiet week in october and nice hot sunny weather this is the place for you!

Room Tip: Do not stay above the restaurant... its noisy!! avoid room 127 and bring your own hair dryer.

Excellent range of breakfast options. Nice pool and plenty of sun beds. Rooms clean and spacious with good size balconies and air conditioning. Ideally located for a stroll into the town down "Restaurant Hill". Thought this was excellent value for money. Found staff to be efficient and focused on their work.

This hotel was excellently positioned to enable us to access the restaurants and night life in Carvoeira. It is far enough out of the town to avoid the noise but close enough to easily walk home on an evening.
The hotel is clean, has good facilities in two fine pools (one indoor), but you do need to be up promptly to beat the the procession of people (mainly older British holidaymakers)staking out the best beds with their towels then disappearing for a couple of hours
The breakfasts selection is good however the number of great restaurants in Carvoeira meant that we would not go half board. (TASTE was by far and away the best restaurant in town by the way)
The pool snack bar was reasonably priced both for food and drinks, however a number of the staff could have been friendlier (the reception staff were excellent and very helpful)
We would return in the future

We have just returned from a week in this lovely resort. I can only repeat what others have said about the hotel, great location, good reception rooms, more than adequate bedroom with clean and spacious bathroom and balcony. The breakfast was much better than I had expected from previous reviews, excellent strong coffee (using Nespresso capsules), good choice of hot food with fresh fruit and warm rolls, croissants etc. And yet...... there is no atmosphere, don't get me wrong - I hate the "holiday camp" feel of many hotels and actively avoid those offering "a full programme of activities" but it was soo quiet - no music around the pool, no conversation from any of the staff (especially at breakfast) it was very much like a city hotel, which you just return to to sleep! Such a shame because with just a little effort, it could feel so different.

This hotel is not maximising it's potential, which is a shame.
Did we enjoy our holiday? - Yes.
Would we return to this hotel? - No.

The good points:
. Perfect location at the top of restaurant hill
. Clean reasonably spacious rooms
. Efficient air conditioning
. Lovely relaxing pool area with lots of natural shade from the palm trees
. Really good coffee at breakfast

The downside:
. Small bathroom with bath tub & shower being most suited to those under 5 foot tall!
. Little or no service at the main bar- Was it actually open?
. Pool bar - miserable 'no personality' bar man.
. Bar snacks?? Very uninspiring toasties.
. Breakfast room - far too small for the number of guests. Tinned fruit (4 star hotel?!)
. Wifi 5 Euros daily

There seemed to be an easy fix to the breakfast 'scramble' - weather permitting, set some tables in the adjoining, unused empty courtyard, terrace area. And for goodness sake put some cushions on the wooden furniture set out there. And while you're at it, please provide some ash trays for the smokers. We witnessed numerous people coming out from breakfast searching for somewhere to deposits their cigarette butts.

To sum sum up, Mirachoro'a loss is Cafe Fino's gain!
Cafe Fino is virtually next door to the hotel & offers free wifi. (We were in room 106 overlooking this cafe & were able to pick up their wifi on balcony) They also do amazing breakfasts & lunches & by the end of the week they had our late night coffee & brandy ready as we walked through the door. (Mirachoro bar was always dead when returned to the hotel)

Thank goodness for 7 days wall to wall sunshine.

Just returned from 10 days at this hotel.Very clean,staff-very helpfull cant fault any of them. The food was fine, we thought not a lot of choice for evening meal, but everything was tasty and hot we always found something to eat. However i think you would struggle if you were vegetarian. We were half board ,breakfast was excellent. Was a little disapointed that you paid for water with evening meal and coffee after. The rooms are not big and unfortunatly we were in room 127 the rooms on this floor had view into rooms oposite and were quite dull also as we were over the dining room could not lie in as the constant in and out of chairs on tiled floors went on from 7.30 till 10.30.We did not let this spoil our holiday and had a lovely time. Would we go back again? no i dont think so.Must add that Miguel {not sure of spelling} pool bar was a lovely lad very polite and friendly.

Room Tip: rooms overlooking village are best
