My husband and I stayed with our two children over half term. We got really cheap flights and managed to bag ourselves some lovely warm winter sun! We had only one day of rain, but it wasn’t a chore being inside as the house has such amazing panoramic sea views we were fascinated by the changing scenery, the waves and the colours of the sea . We also headed into the Algarve shopping centre which has a good variety of shops.
We chose this townhouse because of the photos but they don’t do it justice, It’s simply beautiful! The owners have really decorated it so tastefully, and having a well equipped kitchen was great with the children. The owners also provided board games and DVD’s - so the children were happy, we weren’t totally reliant on the wifi.
Getting out and about is so easy within a few minutes of the house you can go to at least two beaches, & we also found that there are many ways of getting into the town - via the coast road (which has great views!), or there are cut throughs via steps, or you can take a road further back which is less steep. On a lovely bright day we did the Carvoeiro Cliffwalk, a board walk along the cliffs, which was really lovely.
Even in winter where there is less open, we still had a good selection of restaurants only a short walking distance...we never had a bad meal (& the prices were good too!). The children loved going to the local bakery in the morning for fresh bread and pastries, & one evening we decided on a lazy night in so we got a pizza from a local take-away, which is just meters from house. After putting the children to bed, we sat looking at the bay, listening to the waves with a glass of wine – bliss!
We stayed just before Christmas, we booked last minute for a friend's birthday and what a gem we found, we even had a surprise of a little Christmas Market on the beach. The house is just on the edge of Carvoeiro bay, just behind Castelo Guest house. Within couple of minutes walk you can reach loads of bars & restaurants. It's also brilliant that you are only few min walk to 2 beautiful beaches! Although Paraiso one is via cliff steps.
You don't really need a car, there are two small supermarkets in the town that stock all essentials. But early in our stay we took a taxi to one of the large supermarkets, which cost us 7euros.
Even in winter in Portugal there are lots to do! When to golfers played, we hit the shops in the Algarve Centre and Lagos. It was lovely some days just walking, so we strolled down in to Carvoeiro for lunch or we simply sat round the pool.
The house must be brand new, everything is new and high quality, there's even anti-mist mirror in the main bathroom and a large walk-in shower. As we were 4 friends we chose to have both bedrooms set up as twins, rather than superkings. The house had everything we needed, and is beautifully decorated,it felt like we had our own boutique hotel. And wherever you are sitting- on the patio, on the balcony or up on massive roof terrace the views are breathtaking! You also are so close to the sea you can see and hear the waves.
Perfect little holiday with friends! Loved it there and definitely gona come back with families.
