“Lovely hotel but a bit out of town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2013

We stayed here 14th - 22nd September - great time to go as weather was great & there were very few children.
The room was spacious, clean & functional - we had a room in the hotel rather than the townhouses
All areas were well maintained, pool area was quiet, gym had good facilities
It was quite quiet and on that basis they had obviously reduced staffing levels, but a bit too much in the restaurant and bar
The pool bar & restaurant was a bit disappointing with a poor menu selection & expensive for what it was - certainly one area that this hotel really needs to improve
Concierge were helpful, booking several restaurants for us
Tip would be to order taxi well before you need it as you often have to wait a while for them
It's about a 5-10 min taxi ride into town c.10euro so you really do need to either have a car or be prepared to pay to taxis to get out & about for some atmosphere
Overall a lovely hotel but a bit soulless

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 October 2013

We stayed 15-22 September in a one-bedroom townhouse. The townhouse itself was absolutely gorgeous, much larger than we were expecting, and beautifully decorated.
The resort is beautiful, well maintained, and really clean. The high-point of our holiday though, were the staff. They were always really friendly and helpful, and made the stay exceptional.
We stayed half-board, and found the food at both dinner and breakfast to be of a really high standard. Breakfast was a variety of hot food, cold meats and fish, juices, yoghurts and cereals, and breads and pastries. We always ate too much, it was so nice. The evening meal was lovely too. The daily menu had plenty of options for us, but you could always pay a supplement to eat off the A la Carte if you wished. The children's menu was suitably sized for our slightly-picky daughter, so she was able to try a few different items. The only day we were a little disappointed, was on the BBQ night. Dinner in the restaurant normally started at 6.30pm, which was a bit of a push for our 3-year old, but BBQ night it didn't start until 7pm. We weren't told this until we went down for dinner, so it might have been nice to have been warned in advance, either the night before, or at breakfast. Also, there wasn't a good choice of food for children that night, so it was hard to enjoy the BBQ with a tired and hungry 3-year old!
The pool bar was nice, and we'd heard that there was a happy hour, which turned out to be true later in the week, so we had some really nice drinks at very reasonable prices (otherwise they were a little expensive). The happy hour wasn't well advertised though, so it was difficult to know when this was on.
As we had arrived late on the Sunday night (10pm), one of the waitresses mentioned that we should ask reception about transferring the meal we had missed into lunch one day. We did end up doing this, (which reception made very easy for us), so we did have lunch at the pool bar, and while it was nice, we could see why other reviewers would say it was over-priced.
The pools were nice, if a little chilly, and there seemed to be no issue with getting a sun lounger. We were there one day while it was busy, and some guests couldn't find a lounger, so the staff just brought some more out - which I thought was really good.
We visited Carvoeiro a few times, there were no issues getting a taxi from reception, and there is a taxi rank in town, so getting back was really easy too. The taxi was 8-10E each way, so if you were going out and about quite a bit, or going further afield, a car might be worth getting. The beach in Carvoeiro is lovely, easily accessible, and with good facilities. We went on the little train around the town one day, which was really good value at 3E each.
There are quite a few restaurants, bars and cafes in town. Also plenty of shops and supermarkets. We did notice, that although the shop on the resort didn't have a massive range of items, it was fairly reasonably priced in comparison to those in town.
Overall, a fantastic holiday in a lovely setting, with exceptional staff. For the reasonable price we paid to stay at the resort, our expectations were far exceeded, and we would definitely recommend it.

The wife and I were here from September 20th-27th. We found it an ideal time, no children, great weather, superb staff who were very helpful. Bed was to hard for me but I was provided with a topper on request. Spa was excellent, the gardens were beautifully maintained, swimming pool was ideal. Could do with a bigger choice at breakfast, try the poached eggs they are great. Pool drinks were a tad expensive. One of the best breaks we have had. You will need a car if sightseeing.

Room Tip: Choose a top floor with a balcony to sit on. You can hear other residents above and to the side of y...

We went for a week, it was not long enough, arriving on the 20th September, we had a 2 bedroomed town house, which was a massive garden bungalow, all on one level, not a house, we were by ourselves, so it was like being at home, it was beautiful inside, a very high standard, one a thing which was missing was larger cups to have a cup of tea, only coffee cups, but reception got us two from the restaurant, we had two meals in the restaurant, from the fixed menu, which included monkfish, steaks and scallops, we didn't look at the other la a carte menu, and the waitress even remembered the wine we had, on the first night. Only thing I could find wrong was the sheets, were worn, and had started to have nobbles on them. The grounds where beautiful, an very thing else was spot on, it is the best 5 star hotel/resort I have stayed at. We will be going back, The staff, especially the reception staff were brilliant. You need a car, as it is situated by itself, and security was very good.

Room Tip: If possible, get a 2 bedroom villa.

Just returned from Vale D'Oliveiras and had a great self catering holiday. Our 1 bed townhouse was fantastic, clean with plenty of space, good cooking facilities and lots of room outside to enjoy our sunbeds. The accommodation was perfect for us and our 2 year old son loved the kids pool. The staff are also very friendly and helpful and we used the excellent Spa facility.

We only had lunch at the Pool Bar once but were let down by the poor service and noted others similarly unhappy. Some of the food we ordered never actually arrived and we never used it again. To be fair we received a personal apology and gift from the Operations Manager.

I would rate the evening food as only average for a 5* hotel and on the expensive side for the quality - bearing in mind we were there in a fairly quiet period.

If you are staying here you definitely either need a car or be prepared to pay for taxis.

Overall this is a great base to explore some of the best beaches on the Algarve and the quality of the accommodation was the highlight.

Room Tip: We were in Block S and had our own personal sunbeds with plenty of room right outside our townhouse.

We spent the first week in September here and have never had such a relaxing holiday. we did hire a car which we picked up at the airport (be aware of the toll charges on the A22, you have to pay them 48 hours after you have travelled) Which gave us the freedom to explore as the resort is quite a way from everything and you would not be able to walk anywhere.

On one night there was a firework display, which I loved, but for the family next to us who had small children in bed it was quite a shock as they were really loud, maybe reception could have told them in advance.

As mentioned in other reviews the staff are lovely and the accomodation (we had a one bedroom town house) is superb with everything you need.

A final note, It seems that this resort is also used as timeshare property and when we realised we worried that there might be some hardsell, But that was not the case at all.

Room Tip: Garden rooms are private and Quiet

We came on a 'babymoon' package first week in September and generally had a lovely time.

The 1 room villa was delightful, well furnished, in good condition, very very spacious. Only complaint is that the bed was rock hard.

There was confusion regarding our package, partly my fault and partly the hotel's fault but the management handled the situtation with a great deal of grace, which was really appreciated given the week was entirely focussed around reducing stress!

Breakfast bar was great. Hot english breakfast style, plus a selection of fruits and cereals, plus fresh breads and pastries, juices and you could request eggs or expresso style coffees if you wished. I agree with previous reviewers that more staff would have been great, but the wait wasn't ever ridiculous.

Pool is great - one point I would make is that there is a children's pool but virtually all the children were constantly in the adults pool. It is just that kind of family friendly place. We weren't really expecting that for our last holiday before having a baby but the parents were always around and aside from quite a bit of noise (and a lot of adults using headphones accordingly) it really doesn't make a difference. The resort was busy but we could always find a loung chair without a problem. Only one couple I saw was silly enough to try and reserve beds. A lot of the resort guests went out for day trips to Carvoeiro or further afield.

I would really recommend a car. You are an easy drive away from Carvoeiro town (and their restaurants are quite good) and the beaches are amazing. You want to be able to drive to the Intermarche to pick up decent supplies for your apartment too. The lunch menu at the pool bar was pretty poor and we picked up our own supplies to make much better Club sandwiches ourselves.

Staff are friendly and helpful, the spa treatments were great... we recommend a visit.

I was a little disappointed that so many of the activities usually offered for free in a resort all required payment e.g. tennis/badminton/table tennis.

Room Tip: The resort is huge so try not to get too far away from the pool/reception or it is a pain to walk ba...
