I had the pleasure of staying at this small apartment complex in July this year. The photographs available really do not do it justice. The apartment was so much bigger than I had thought, and very well equipped (a dishwasher!!) As the complex is small, there is not dreaded sun-bed bagging, allowing for everyone to enjoy the pool area.

Prior to going on holiday I had broken my ankle and was allocated a ground floor apartment with a loo and a separate bathroom. The main bathroom had a bath, with shower over and a 'wetroom' style shower which I was able to use with a plastic chair.

The manager of the complex was so helpful and was on hand to give advice or assistance most of the day, if he was not on site he was easily contactable by phone.

As I was on crutches and the area is rather hilly we were dependent on local taxis for getting to and from the main town or restaurants. Normally the walk into the town would be easy enough however, I think the walk back with children would be a bit much as there were few pavements/street lights. A taxi journey from the main town to the complex was about 5 euros however to appreciate the area and to enable food shopping etc I would recommend hiring a car.

Just got back to England today, and I can honestly say that this is one of the best holidays that I've had. We arrived at the accommodation at around 9pm and we were kindly greeted by a gentleman who checked us in and also explained to myself and my partner by giving us a map, of the surroundings we had and where the town was located. Although there were just the two of us, we were given an immaculate apartment including 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fit-in kitchen and a huge balcony. The place was spotless clean and more than what we bargained for. All of the rooms can be individually locked too so we always felt safe and secure. There's also a pool where you can sunbathe and have a swim too.

The town square wasn't too far from us at all, a quick 10 minute walk in the sunshine was absolutely fine by us and we did this daily, sometimes twice a day.

There are so so so many restaurants in the square, including Italian, English, Portuguese and many other cultured food places to eat at.

The square contains many souvenir and trinket shops, markets, ice cream shops which was interesting, and we used one of our days to discover the towns shops and there are many gifts to buy for others and yourselves. The shops do not close until 11pm also, which was good as we found ourselves discovering new shops after an evening meal.

Many of the shops advertise trips out too, including many water parks, zoo attractions, safaris, spa days etc. We chose to go to Slide and Splash which was a brilliant day out.

The evenings we brilliant too, in the square, every night, there's a dj that plays music up until midnight and everyone dances as if it was an outside party which was entertaining to watch if you were having a drink in one of the side restaurants. All of the children joined in too so it's fun for them also.

The beach is so beautiful, it's spacious enough for you to lay your towels down and enjoy the sun. Drinks and ice creams are available near by, also sunbeds and umbrellas are available too. The beach also includes many fun activities for you to hire also, for example banana boats, boats with slides etc.

Overall this holiday was fantastic, from the accommodation to the town. I've told my family that it would be a great place for them to visit, I'd say that the accommodation, the town and everything is catered and suited for anyone and everyone.

Excellent, clean, comfortable, affordable accommodation. We stayed here for 10 nights in June/ July 2013. This is only a small complex with all accommodation spread over two floors, each with their own large balcony overlooking the surrounding grounds. The only downside would be the 15 minute walk into the main town....torture in the midday heat, though local taxis are plentiful and cost about 4 euros. There is also talk of a small bus service being introduced for next summer direct from the complex.
The caretakers were very helpful ( even got up at 4am to see us off on our last day) and apartments were cleaned thoroughly, with beds changed and clean towels on 3 occasions while we were there.
A trip to Bonaca Bar, a small bar and restaurant set in the cliffs, is a must, and local restaurant Jan in the main square of Carvoeiro is lovely.
Would also recommend a trip to Zoomarine for kids of all ages.
If you are looking for a quieter holiday, and wish to be away from the noise of the town then I highly recommend this place.

Room Tip: Would say that all the rooms are well situated and have great views
