Visiting Carvoeiro for the day. Found this place and the food was just great. All the family had clean plates. Gorgeous monkfish and prawn kebab, monkfish casserole and children had spaghetti (which they said was the best they had eaten!). Had to dash as not keen on driving in the dark on unfamiliar roads, but will have to go back to try those deserts which looked delicious.

Here is a place you can enjoy a good meal at a very reasonable price. The servers are attentive but my advice is to go at opening time (noon) before the real rush starts. For you Brits, they even do a Sunday dinner

Been to Vimar on numerous occasions now, never had a bad experience, The menu choice is really quite extensive. Vimar usually have two choices of soup or a basic salad for starter, a good choice of both meat and fish dishes for main course, and an array of lovely desserts including banoffee pie, tiramisu, choc cake, fresh strawberries etc etc, so much so you will be spoilt for choice, Service was good, The restaurant itself is clean and friendly, it's well laid out, and has a play area for small children. The lunch time menu (July 2014) is priced at €9 per head and in the evening its €13.50, this includes three courses, drinks and coffee. The food is of good quality and is unbeatable on price. If you are visiting Carvoiero it's really worth a visit.

Second year in this resort, last year no problems with this restaurant. It might be located at the top of the hill but the quality is down at the bottom. We had three visits, the first was OK with only the excessive wait a bit irritating, but, as we had ordered the mixed kebab we reckoned that it too a little while longer to cook as the chunks of meat were pretty big. The second visit was poor, the waiting staff are very quick to deliver your drinks, I think that this ensures that you won't walk out when faced with the lengthy delay thereafter. They don't seem to be organised and they don't seem to be too bothered about the sloppy service the deliver. However, we put this down to a "on off" and gave it a final visit on our last night. I thought I had walked onto the set of Fawlty Towers, as mentioned we were captured by rapidly served drinks, the the wait, the long wait, the interminably long wait. As I was considering whether extend my holiday for a day or so in order for allow the food to arrive, it eventually came. After waiting around an hour for the main course I just wanted to go home. Others in the restaurant were similarly unhappy, complaints were being made and some were walking out. In the midst of all this a waiter was trying to wheel a sweet trolley, which was too big to pass between the tables necessitating diners (if you were lucky enough to get some food) to stand up and move their tables. As it was not peak season when we went I shudder to think how they will cope. Somehow I don't think they will care one little bit.
