The last time I came here was a few years back and it was great then. This place is better than I recall and not sure why it has taken me so long to return. It is not in the main part of town where most restaurants can be found but a beautiful setting overlooking Meia Praia beach.

The food here is amazing. Fantastic fresh fish is the main selling point of this place but there is something for everyone if that is not your thing. The staff are knowledgable and extremely friendly. In fact the service is impeccable and all restaurants should take notice. This is service at its best.

Shame I'm going home... This would otherwise be a frequent haunt...

Desserts are amazing. Chocolate mousse... Or lemon meringue pie.

Four of us booked for a Wednesday night having failed to get in on the Monday night when it was packed. We were one of only three dining tables that night. Advisable to book because it is quite a remote location and 15-20 minute walk back into town if you can't get in.
Almost all seafood is sold by weight so make sure you are happy with the size of the fish you order to avoid nasty surprises when the bill arrives.

The staff will happily describe the fish which is on ice inside the door and explain what it is like if you are not sure. You can then choose your fish from the tray. Everything seemed to be priced at 40 Euros per kilo although comparing prices elsewhere locally, this is actually quite reasonable.
We ordered the clams in garlic and the fried prawns as starters, both were reasonably priced when you consider for four people (13.50 & 18.00 Euros respectively) Both were delicious and there was more than enough for four people.
We then chose an enormous sole (61 Euros) and a small sea bass (38 Euros) for our main course which were both cooked to perfection and tasted great.
The staff also served the fish at our table and took it off the bone before serving which was a nice touch.
Vegetables served were boiled new potatoes and a nice mixed salad.
Desserts were lemon merengue and apple pie. Both nice portions and tasted good.
The manager and manageress were very attentive and keen for us to enjoy the experience however I can see why some reviewers may have found them a bit over the top. Personally I found them both charming, helpful and polite, if appearing a little abrupt at times. I believe they are just very proud of their dishes.

The beachside location makes this a great place to eat and they will open the curved conservatory style windows for you if it's not too windy.
Smoking IS permitted when dining in the outer conservatory area. Great if you smoke, not so great for diners who don't and happen to be sitting nearby. Thankfully it wasn't busy and the diners smoking at the table next to us were finishing as we arrived. We would have been very unhappy if we had been eating when they were smoking.

The locals rave about this place and rightly so although be prepared to fork out for your meal depending on how much you order. Total cost for a blowout meal for four, starter, main, dessert, two bottles of excellent wine, water and coffee was 185 Euros.

Would we go back? Yes.

This place is amazing. The service was excellent. It was attentive without being intrusive. The staff took the time to explain all the different types of fish on offer, but there was no hard sell. As a result I decided to try the stone bass which I had never had before - it was delicious. The puddings were also lovely and the wine great. I really can't understand the negative comments and we actually thought it was quite a reasonably priced meal. Don't be put off - give it a go

How many times in 10 years of visiting Lagos have we walked past this on the way to Linda's or thr Bahia? Not anymore! It is easily the vest ! Our first visit for lunch was on Wednesday when we had the grilled sardines, wow! Served with salad and buttery garlic potatoes, so nice! Then yesterday , our last day on the beach we had the black stone bass again served with the delicious potatoes and salad and of course washed down with their São Roque house white wine! Without a doubt , excellent! Will definitely be back as the staff were excellent , Olga our waitress and found an old friend from the old fish restaurant behind the Tivoli ; Freddie ! Lovely to see him there and had was so surprised we recognised him and showed him a photo that we had of me and him! Lots of Portuguese there too, a sure sign of good food!
