“Great Location, Awesome Staff!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

Awesome location, fairly cheap for Lagos, not far to walk from the bus stop. It is across the road from a bar so it can get fairly noisy at night but it is bearable. The best thing about the hostel were the staff who helped us out alot, especially the new manager Katarina who is an absolute gem, she helped us out with planning our travels and always had a big smile on her face. Would stay here again. P.S also has a nice big balcony on the roof with a great view of the city.

We stayed at Sol a Sol for 4 nights and had a great time. The rooms are small and basic but they were all we needed while we stayed. The hostel is beside a bar or two so it was a little noisy at night but the balcony had double doors so it canceled out a lot of the sound. The hostel is in a great location with hundreds of shops and places to eat or buy groceries within short walking distance. The hostel staff was very friendly and helpful and we made many new friends there. The hostel holds events each day like "beach day" or "free sangria night" (our personal favourite) which really brings together everyone in the hostel as one big group of friends. The terrace up top (which got a bit of an overhauling while we were there) was a great place to unwind at the end of the day and have a few drinks while watching the sun go down over the ocean. The view from up top is fabulous!

Very helpful staff. Great central location. Our room was slightly noisy as is close to the bars and street - but all rooms have fans so we closed the door and put the fan on which cancelled out a lot of the noise. Good beds, sheets and towels come as part of the room. Shower had very low water pressure - ladies with long hair, take note! Otherwise a good place to stay. Good wifi reception, too.

he location is awesome and the man who's mainly at front desk (probably the owner) is very nice and helpful. We stayed there 3 or 4 nights and the last night we found a cockroach in our room but overall it is a clean place. Very noisy though if you are looking for a calm and relaxing night,it might not be the best place..

the sol a sol must have changed owner. it's no b & b now but a hotel. no breakfast. room was shabby and small but with a nice view. double room at 45 €, advance payment. we stayed 4 nights which was too long considering the size and state of the room.

staff was nice and tending quickly to our needs. there are some bars around so it was very noisy. we slept with closed windows and plugged ears.
good location in the centre of lagos but definitely wouldn't recommend if you need something quiet.

Wel the smell was terrible inside the room. I don't usually fuss but it was winter in portugal and houses seem to gather a bit of mould from the humidity. I'm not sure if it was the curtains or ceiling but it was strong. Otherwise the room was ok. For 30 euros you can stay in cleaner (smelling) guesthouses but there were other advantages other B&B's there did not have.
The greatest thing of all was that they had heating and as we didn't manage to sleep one night there were looads of TV channels to keep us busy :-)
They had a vending machine too!
